I was banded a little over 7 yrs ago. Initially lost over 150 lbs. and maintained it for about 4 yrs.I was never really happy with the band. Never felt normal vomiting all the time, but I thought it was the price I had to pay for being thinner and healthier. I suddenly started to gain weight even though I was still unable to eat much and getting fills. My new surgeon eventually did an endoscopy and saw that the band prolapsed. In the interim I developed Psoriatic arthritis. I have the rash and pain in both knees .I was put on Enbrel injections but then it was discovered I was exposed to TB as a child so I cannot take those injectons any longer, They did help
. So now my rheumatologist ,pcp, and surgeon all agree the band should be removed and I have the gastric sleeve. My insurance company approved the procedure practically overnight. So here I am writing this the day before my procedure. I am 62 and for that reason I'm feeling a bit apprehensive having major surgery. I am in otherwise good health .Anyone else my age have is procedure. Any feedback would be appreciated.
