Oh Shelly you poor dear.... so sorry you had to go thru that. I don't have much faith in ER doctors..... Back in 1990 I went in by ambulance not once but 3 times for horrible pain, I mean pain so bad I was passing out. Each time the ER sent me home and told me I had a stomach virus. My appendix burst and the knuckleheads couldn't figure it out.... If they had done a simple CAT scan it could have been avoided. So Donna, with or without a band you have to be careful. JMHO folks

port pain, lots of scar tissue, what's going on?
NJChick replied to lovecats85's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
You poor dear, my gosh that does sound painful. The only thing I notice is when I'm at work (sitting) my port side gets sore & irritated. I slouch so I'm sure that doesn't help either. One thing I do know is scar tissue can be very painful. I have lots of it due to 2 other operations but so far I havent noticed anything with the port scar. Feel better  Let us know what the doctor says. -
You know, even though Dr. Phil looks like a penis in a suit, the man makes sense

Cool !! how many calories ?
-
I wondered about this myself... good question. My doc had me on Clear Liquids for ..... get this crap... 5 days after my first fill. Normally its 2 days but I think he didn't want any trouble during the weekend so he extended it a few extra days, nice eh~ . Let me just say I ate on the 3rd day (mushies). But this got me thinking that maybe I should have eaten before the fill so I wouldn't go thru the day with a growling belly.

WOWEEEEEEEE YOU GO GIRL !!! WHOOOT!!!! I'm so happy for you  Your really an amazing person.

My boss would not understand me taking off time for the surgery. He is very structured and would look at it like I was wasting company time and just why can't I keep my mouth shut to lose weight... he would NOT understand. I also did not tell anyone here but 2 people (work that is) I don't want people watching me and watching everything I put in my mouth.. no thank you bob !. Every situation is different so evaluate yours and do whats best.

Good Evening Good news, MIL's surgery went well, they took the intestins out where the blockage is. As of a few hours ago she was sitting up drinking gingerale Thank you all so much for your prayers. I am a strong believer in prayer. Thank you thank you thank you !!! Betty, hope your ears are better by tomorrow too. Good luck on your interview. My right ear is giving me problems the past few days, nagging pain but not so bad that I need a doctor yet. I have to be careful because I am hard of hearing and the last thing i need is more damage to the ear. Feel better. Paula Dean RULES !!!! she's my favorite. Sherry sorry you had a rough time with the soup. Feel better !! Patty, I think Pat has a card, not sure. But yes you can use it at restraunts and they will give you a break. I have a medical ID bracelet. I was told not to get the fancy ones b/c EMT's might not recognize it as a medical allert. Mine says "Gastric Lap-Band, No NG Tubing without Scope" and it has my doctors name and phone #. Cindy do enjoy the skating and concert...sounds like a great time. Doc, hope your feeling better soon. Enjoy the kids Hugs to you all. Talk to you tomorrow.

Tiffany, yep, me too. For some reason I pick up a bag of chocolate a week. I don't eat the entire bag myself, DH does that but for some reason I need that bite of chocolate after dinner. If I don't have it I am climbing the walls looking for something to replace it. I said on another thread that when I crave something sweet and I try to fight it I wind up shoveling 10x more crap in my mouth just to satisfy the beast. I'm better off with the real thing, a few pieces of chocolate and I'm a happy camper. Problem with that is I want chocolate all the time lol.

Cynthia, thats wonderful that your trying to make better choices, WTG !!!! I'm having a hard time staying away from the junk so I can't offer much here except that I do "try" to get baked things instead of fryed. Protein & veggies first like Paula said. Thats about it from the pnut gallery. Mostly I want to wish you much success with your changes... HUGS !!!!!

Good Morning, Thank you Patty, Edna did good in surgery last night. My DH came home at 1:30 am and said the surgeon was able to remove part of her intestins where the blockage was. She is so frail and fragile that he didn't think she would make it if they had to do that. He is going back there this morning to check up on her. I'll go see her tomorrow, she's not going to be up to seeing alot of people today. I mean she's only out of surgery 6 hrs or so. God is Good !!! Other than that, nothing much is happening today, same old, same old. Whats everyone doing today ?

Sitting in the hospital the day of surgery waiting for my # to be called. But it hit me the hardest was walking into the surgery room looking back at my DH crying. Up until then, it was a dream.

Oh yeah, I saw this on TV. It looked pretty cool. I think any equipment is worth it as long as you use it. Do they give you a 30 day try it and if you don't like it send it back? That might be something to consider, but check out the shipping charges b/c I believe you'll have to pay shipping to and fro if you don't like it. This product is pretty new so I'm not sure if you'll get many answers. Try doing a google on it and see if you get any reviews. good luck !!

Hi Beth, I guess for me the band is my last hope at trying to lose weight. Gosh only know's we've all tried a gazillion things. I can lose 50 lbs but can't keep it off for Beans. At this point with the band I have very little restriction which means I can eat a lot of food, but, not as much as before banding. I am finally feeling a little bit of my fill / restriction. So for instance, instead of eating 4 slices of pizza, I can only eat 2. But even with those 2 slices I'm not losing weight b/c I'm still eating more calories than I'm burning (yes I pick inbetween and my exercise sucks) I'm hoping my next fill will help me even more. I knew that I would not change over night with the band, and that its going to take time to modify my habbits, I mean lets face it, I'm not going to change 40+ years of bad habbits in a 1 hour operation. But you know Beth, thats okay. It took years for me to blow up this big, and if it takes years to get me to lose it, well thats okay too, just as long as I'm heading in the right direction... ya know. I just want the band to help me eat like a normal person and I'll be happy. Slow IS good :scared: One day at a time

Hey Patty, enjoy your pizza and the time alone. pineapple pizza YUMMIE! Cindy are you practicing to come to NY ? GOOD SHOOTING WTG !!! little ol you. Dianne, hope your feeling better soon. Betty I hear ya on being able to eat to much. Hope you can get a fill soon. Sherry glad to hear things are going okay..... how are you feeling? how was work? Well I went to bed at 8:30 only to get a phone call that my MIL is in the hospital having emergency surgery. She can't hold down an ounce of Water so they can't do a CAT scan on her. They are not sure what the blockage is and why she keeps throwing up but the doctor said b/c she is so frail and there's just a long story behind her health that if they had to take part of her upper intestins that she mostlikely won't make it. She is 78 years old and such a sweet little lady. So here I sit while DH is at the hospital waiting for her to come out..poor little thing. Please say a prayer for Edna my friends. Thanks !!!!! and as always I love you all.

Congratulations :scared:

Catholic? What are you giving up during Lent???
NJChick replied to StartingOver's topic in The Lounge
Protestants participate in Lent as well (most Christians do). I'm going to try to give up bitching about my boss. -
Nothing is wrong with your band and there's nothing wrong with you, it is normal to feel hungry. The day I got banded I wanted a cheese burger sooo bad. The only thing that kept me on the strait and narrow was the fear of hurting myself. I did not want to wind up back in the hospital. I know exactly how you feel, I was on liquids for 3 weeks, 2 of them clear liquid and I was ready to chew the wall. Hang in there Stacy, please for your own well being, try to stick to the doctors diet. But also know, your not alone in your struggles. Try getting some Protein shakes in yah, that might help calm the beast. Hugs !!!
