Has anyone tried Meridia to help lose weight prior to lap banding?
NJChick replied to RKidder's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
The only thing Meridia did for me was give me wicked stomach pain and gas that could peal wallpaper off your walls. Icky stuff IMHO. Sorry  -

I also have a 5 year old and let me tell you, I wouldn't be pissed, I'd be fuming. You have every right to let them know they overstepped their bounds... my gosh...what's next? a tattoo at the age of 6. Don't get me wrong, I like piercing and tattoo's but there's an age, time and place for it all. My DD has a little chubby belly and anyone who tells her she is fat will have to deal with me. I grew up being told I was no good b/c I was fat... I won't have my child subjected to that sort of abuse. I'm so sorry this happened to you and your DD. Shame shame on them!!

Yes, and I'm glad they are LOLOL (just kidding). My DH can not feel the port. IMHO I would tell them the truth if they ask because you wouldn't want to start off a relationship with a lie. If they jump ship because of that... well then you never really wanted to be with him in the first place. Good Luck !!!

Shelly, CONGRATULATION !!!! you look amazing, just beautiful girl. Thanks for sharing your special day with us. *hugs*

I buy smaller pants but keep the shirts until I really can't wear them anymore. People are used to seeing me in baggy clothing anyway. Just recently I bought several colors of smaller size pants to get me through the summer but I still wear my summer shirts from last year. I get my 'disposable' clothes from www.roamans.com or kmart, walmart or anywhere that has my size thats cheep. Good Luck !!

My Dh was nervous too, but at the same time excited for me b/c he knew this is what I wanted and needed. Ditto's to what Jack said.... the op is fast and pretty darn safe (as compaired to gastric, etc.) and the recovery is fast too. I too am scared of the unknown but when you read the many many folks that do well it will ease your mind. Good luck

Lots of people gain weight from the surgery, I've heard some gain as much as 10 lbs. Don't worry, this will come off fast. Weigh yourself in 2 weeks and you'll see (your still swollen inside). Hugs and don't panic

Good Morning, Sherry and Donna have a safe trip and tell us more when you get home Its beautiful outside today, crystal clear blue skys, brilliant blue if I may add and its already 80 degrees out. As soon as DD gets up I'm in the pool..yep. I love the morning. Nothing mush is going on... my fill feels a little looser which is strange, I was just getting used to 4 bites and OUCH... now I can eat more. Odd little thing the band is lol. Anyone got any goals for next week? Mine is to lose 2 stinkin pounds.. I wanna lose 50 but 2 will do for now Shall we do a mini challenge? no reward except to see those #'s on the scale go down. I really want to eat healthy and NO goodies this week...anyone wanna try with me? Okie dokie lovies, I'm gonna get some coffee and do some reading. Luv yah's. Eileen

I don't know enough about it but it seems to be okay for the thicker liquid phase after surgery. The less air inside the better (gas reasons) so you might not want to whip it up that much after surgery. Ask your doctor and what ever he/she says is what I'd go with. Good Luck !!!

Some advice for pre-bandsters/new bandsters! - Probably a repeat!
NJChick replied to Cheri's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
OMG Cheri.... that sounds like a lot of work LOLOL !!! Your right it is a good thing to do when the scale is not moving and you need some reassurance that you are making progress. I did not take measurements..... *shrug* -
Good Afternoon, Awww I missed saying goodbye to Cindy  I hope she has a safe and happy vacation... and comes back with lots of details and pictures Donna you look great!! Your son looks very happy, I'm glad you got to see his graduation Sherry, have a blast on your trip, enjoy and we want lots of details and pictures when you get home *hugs* Patty, I'm so glad that this information (diet) will help. You know even if you get approved now, you can always ask your doc to schedule you for a later date, sept oct when its cooler. How's everything by you? Did you say your going to visit your Mom? How are the boys enjoying the summer? Beanie congrats on the WL WHOOT!!!! ... ohhh and a pool, girl your gonna love it. Mary, how are you doing? how are the kids? Is your dad still staying with you? Betty, I know your afraid, can't blame you. I'm glad your getting it checked out and I'll pray its something simple and easy they can help fix. Kat, I'm glad your dad's results came back good Your poor DH, I feel so bad for him, he must be very frustrated with the whole ordeal huh. Please know that we also continue to pray for him AND you. Things like this not only wear down the person who it effects but it also wears down the family as well....... ENJOY your breakfast w/the girlies  Annie Bananie, whats shakin toots? how are YOU feeling. Haven't heard a report in a lwhile (okay days).... Is DD home yet? Dianne, how are you feeling love? Darcy, ya heading up to the cabin this weekend? How are things with you? Nothing going on today, DD as a bit of the runs lol, so I'm leary on taking her out anywhere pfffffft ! I got lots of things to do around the house, laundry and fun stuff like that (NOT). Its supposed to rain today so who knows if we'll get in the pool... rain doesn't bother me but we get thunder and lightening to go along with it b/c its so hot and humid. No update on Jessann... her surgery is next Friday, so there's nothing else we can do. She's in good spirits but then, she really doesn't realize what she is in for. Hopefully the doctors are wrong... In my gut, I believe they are wrong so I am very relaxed about this believe it or not.... its a peacefull feeling I can't explain (THANK YOU JESUS). My boss keeps looking at me asking if things are okay... kinda with a sad look on his face.... so I'll take that as his way of showing concern. For some reason I can't believe he is 100% asshole... maybe 90% LOL. He even asked me how my Mom was (she was sick and I had to leave early the other day to take her to the doctor)... so. I think he's just trying not to make me upset. Although he IS odd.... MEN! Whats everyone up to?

Sounds like your calories are not consistant...meaning...your eating very little on restricted days and then eating alot on non restricted days. Thats exactly what happens to me. On days I can eat I think OMG, I better make up for the days I couldn't... WRONG! I also need to keep a close eye on calories, if I go over 1400 I will not lose. Also remember, persistance not perfection wins the race... we are not going to be perfect every day but we must keep trying

First Fill, first pb - no longer a virgin
NJChick replied to Stitchy's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
WOW, your doc was gonna give you 2 in a 4 cc band? It took me almost 8 months to get my doc to work up to the 2 cc's thats in my 4 cc band. And I'm surprised he said to eat so soon after a fill. I have to go 3 days w/no food after a fill (I really go 2). You might want to do liquids for a day then mushies to get used to it. Good luck and congrats on getting your fill. -
57 is not old unless your a rock star (like ozzy) lol. I'm suspecting he's living long b/c his body is pickled ~

Good Morning Chickies, Nothing new today SOSDD. I can't play now but I'll be back later tonight or tomorrow morning, either way I'll see ya soon. Hugs to you all and Thank You !!!

How soon after surgery did you feel hungry?
NJChick replied to div95008's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I was hungry the minute I opened my eyes from surgery... my tummy growled and growled. I remember asking the doc for a cheeseburger -
I'm just amazed Ozzy can still function LOL !!! Gotta love it. Glad you had fun
