Awesome congrats :crying: I was really worried that I would end up being denied after doing all the requirements and then have to appeal but nope was good to go first try :crying:

My surgeon doesn't recommend alot more than just a Multi Vitamin broke in 1/2 take 1/2 in the morning 1/2 at night. He told me that it wasn't entirely necessary but I could take 1 B-complex and 2 chromium 1 B-122 Calcium If I felt tired. Mine are all in pill form since I haven't had surgery yet.

The whole 6 month diet thing was a slight hiccup in the road for me.... While the dietitian would give me information on how to eat better she knew I was there working towards my banding. I was pretty lax on the first couple months but by about month 4 I started losing 1 pounds per week. My surgeon said they require it just to make sure you get enough nutrition education, have the drive to lose weight, and that you can keep all your appts. I was approved in just over 1 day after completing my appts :crying:

I am not on an all liquid diet I have just changed the way I eat all together since I am getting ready for surgery next week. My stomach growls all the time too although it's not that loud I guess to get embarassed over but it growls.

It's the age old question on here for some but I WOULD gain 5 pounds or whatever I had to so that they would pay for the surgery.

Everyone pretty much covered it. My doctor isn't making me do one at this point he just required me to lose 5-10 pounds.

My surgeon said it wasn't necessary for me either.

Pre banded and soon to be post banded and I use dailyplate.com

I am pre band and I can barely drink that now without feeling like I am going to pop. It's alot of liquid calories so you might want to rethink if it's really worth it or not... But I would just get a tiny bit in a glass and sip it very slowly to see how you react.

It all depends on your surgeons requirements, if you're self pay, if you have insurance, your weight, your comorbities... Theres just not a set guideline really... The best thing to do is if you have insurancec call them ahead of time and have them fax you the part of your policy that talks about the bariatric surgery coverage so when you fill out the surgeons paperwork you have that info to get a head start.

I had bloodwork done today. I go in on 4/17 for my Preop with surgeon... if I have lost 5-10 pounds they said they wont put me on a pre op diet.. currently I have lost more than that but it's almost that time of the month so I am gonna balloon up any second I hope they realize that :rolleyes2:

Yes , I had to do the 6 month diet... very easy tho and time went very fast.

My surgeon charges 23k with everything included in Eugene, Oregon. I have heard great things about a surgeon in Coosbay, Oregon tho for 10k.

It's not a scare tactic some surgeons will close you up and not complete the surgery. They have medical reasons that they do this... it's for your safety.

Hi Sufina, I spend a ton of time researching everything on this site. You will find it all very helpful! I spend most of my time in the pre op section since most of the threads there will answer questions all the questions I had about the procedure and what to expect. I am not sure if I would of been ready for all that comes with lap band if I hadn't read this forum.

Sorry to bug but I need to go shopping for my surgery and life with the band!! Hooray (Excitement hasn't worn off yet) I know I saw shopping lists somewhere... can someone point me in the right direction?

I think it's because of what people put on the krispies that make them so horrible With the right knowledge of what to add and not add and eating it in moderation you'll be fine.

Oh man I tried to use Tongs last night on the grill..

Call and ask your surgeon they will tell you whether to stop taking it... Whats good for one person might not be good for another.
