They have some supposeably tasteless Protein powders out there you might want to try adding just a few sprinkles to everything u eat that will make you stay full longer.

The title of your thread caught my eye..... When I woke up from surgery the nurse that woke me up for one reason or another looked like my mother in law and the first thing out of my mouth was "Tell dan (my DH) I didn't die" She thought I had lost it and let me go back to sleep haha. Just a thought on the not being able to take a deep breath.. make sure u still try a few times and hour and use the breather tube thing they should have given you. Once per hour u should hold a pillow on your belly and cough to. This clears your lungs of the anasthesia not to mention the fluids that pooled in your lungs that can casue pneumonia. Glad to see your doing good  Wishing you a speedy recovery!

Don't worry about it right now. But here is a tip... You really need to get the Protein down so for now stick with just that. that is what my doc recommended. He told me that the liquid I took in from the Protein shake countedd towards the Water count so I just walked around with those for I think the first 4 days then I was fine... Now I get water and protein in. But obviously check with your doctor if you think there is an issue. Most of them are happy to answer questions over the phone.

Very awesome  I just found this thread and added myself to the list. -
How many calories a day are you averaging?
Brandy~ replied to Hippiemama's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I am taking in 400-700 -
I just thought I would post my update. So I do not have 1 thing to complain about so far in my banding adventure. I am 9 days post op. I had surgery at 5 am and was up and about by around 1 pm and home at 6pm. I never used the robe that I took... the staff just gave me a gown to put on backwards. I didn't care since it wasn't a fashion show everyone I passed in the hall was dressed like that. They also had an area that you could sit in just to visit with others that had the surgery so that was kind of nice. I made it about an hour in there but kept falling asleep sitting up lol. I took in some hot liquids and everything went down just fine in the hospital. Since I have been home I haven't been hungry 1 time. I constantly forget to eat. I am thirsty alot so I never forget to take in my Water. Since day 2 I have been back to exercising some and since day 5 im full bore exercising.... My regimen consists of 5 days of jog/walk 3 miles. 2 days of weight which I am waiting on clearance for swimming then I will do laps on these days as well to cool off. I had something very strange happen to me yesterday.. I saw a grapefruit and couldn't picture anything for the rest of the day... i was dreaming of putting salt all of it and licking it and drinking the juice (I made a thread about this) I couldn't take it anymore so I went and got one. It took me almost all day but I slowly consumed most of it throught out the day... I guess I needed salt lol. I retained 1 pound of water weight though because of it and im currently trying to flush that out. Oh and as for the air they use to blow up your abdomen for the surgery... As my surgeon was helping to push my bed into the operating rooms I looked up and said could you please make sure u get all the air out I really don't want to feel that shoulder pain. Well I haven't had one single problem with my shoulders. I don't know if it was cause of how well he did getting it out or because of the extensive workouts that I now do to keep moving. I ended up with 4 small incisions and 1 port incision... They used dissolving suture inside and on the outside Glue so I don't have to have anything removed such as staples  I go in for post op 5/8 and hopefully while I am there they will give me my first fill date. Even though I am not hungry now I know I will be but for now I will just be very very thankful. Sorry for the long post everyone but I love to read others experiences and share my own

You've heard it a hundred times I am sure but were all different. I have lost a total of 25 but I think 16 was in the first week. I think its depends on what you did before the surgery too.. did you have a preop diet? I didn't so my body was shocked when it went full liquids...... heck I went out to a big italian dinner the night before surgery. I also jog/walk 3 miles 5x per week. I am not saying your not exercising but our bodies react to things in many different ways.

I am 9 days post op. Since being banded food is of 0 interest to me. I haven't had anything to chew even tho the doctor has released me to eat mushies and a few other food. Yesterday though I couldnt get salt out of my mind I rarely ever have salt on anything so that was weird for me. I was doing my shopping for the family at the grocery store and saw a red grapefruit and my mouth started watering..... very weird no hunger just a massive craving for it. I used to hate grapefruits wth is wrong with me lol. So I buy it run home cut it into small pieces cover it with salt and pick at it till the whole thing was gone......... I have only had a couple shakes a day since surgery so I guess I wasnt getting enough salt? LOL now im back to normal today and lack complete interest in foods again and still have no hunger pains. Anyone else do something very weird like this? I think my husband thought I had lost it. I wouldnt be suprised if he brought home a salt lick they use on farms or something from the way I was acting lol

Sounds funny but yet makes sense. I will try that lol. I am drinking about 80 oz a day right now.

I found this great article that might be helpful to some. I plan on trying the Trader Jo's Feta  Determined to lose a few pounds but already feeling cranky and deprived? Take a cheese break. There’s nothing like cheese to make you feel like you’re not on a diet. And there are lots of low-fat varieties -- they’re just not all worth eating. But these 6 are. We know. The RealAge staff taste-tested dozens to find them. What’s more, there’s evidence that the Calcium, Protein, and other goodies in low-fat cheese (and other low-fat dairy foods) can actually help you lose weight, nourish your bones, lower your blood pressure, and reduce your risk of diabetes. End of bad mood, beginning of new body! BEST SPREAD Boursin Light A homerun for cheese fans and garlic lovers alike. Just a schmear of this creamy spread goes a long way on a whole-wheat cracker or slice of baguette. 2/3 tsp: 40 calories, 2.5g fat (1.5g saturated), 3.4g protein, 2% DV calcium BEST CRUMBLES Trader Joe’s Fat- Free Feta These moist, cheesy crumbles make a perfect final flourish for a baby spinach salad tossed with berries, walnuts, and balsamic vinaigrette. 1 ounce: 35 calories, 0g fat ( 0g saturated), 5g protein, 10% DV calcium Treasure Cave Reduced Fat Crumbled Blue Cheese Great on salads and burgers yet has roughly half the fat of regular blue cheese. As with all blues, you must be a fan of salty and stinky to enjoy this one. Lucky for us, we are! 1/4 cup: 80 calories, 5g fat (3.5g saturated), 7g protein, 15% DV calcium BEST Snacks Mini Babybel Light These rounds of creamy, semi-soft cheese are perfect with a handful of grapes and a couple almonds. 1 round: 50 calories, 3g fat, 1.5g saturated fat, 6g protein, 20% DV of calcium BEST SLICES Jarlsberg Lite Replace your usual Swiss slices with these thin, deli-style slices -- they have a mild, slightly nutty flavor and an almost sweet aftertaste. 1 ounce: 70 calories, 4g fat, 2g saturated fat, 9g protein, 25% DV calcium Sargento Reduced Fat Provolone This mild Italian favorite maintains a nice buttery taste with a minimal amount of fat. 1 slice: 50 calories, 3.5g fat (2g saturated), 5g protein, 15% DV calcium BEST FRINGE BENEFIT Need another reason (besides fitting into your skinny jeans) to swap full-fat cheese for lower-fat choices? Try this: Eating a diet low in saturated fats (and trans fats too) can make your RealAge as much as 6 years younger.

Good thing my mother in law has a sense of humor since she was my support that was there....... she is about 125 soaking wet. She asked the nurse to give her some too. She wouldn't tho.

three weeks post op
Brandy~ replied to LanclosMomma's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey there. I am sure it will pick up. I noticed that you said chicken nuggets, sandwiches, mashed potatoes. Are you exercising alot? The foods you listed have carbs. Carbs are fuel that should be used to burn. If you're not working out I would switch to : 3-4 oz of grilled fish or chicken no breading or anything instead of mashed potatoes do a 1/4-1/2 cup of steamed veggies Sandwiches... eat all the innerds without the bread? These are just suggestions that might help mix up the way you eat. If you're not excersizing try to start walking a few blocks a day even then work up to a mile. Believe me thats enough to shock the system into dumping the calories. Oops editing to add: You might try a 1/2 can of Tuna as well and maybe 2-3 WHOLE GRAIN crackers if you don't add mayo.. if you do make sure it's the lite mayo and u measure it out. -
Before banding I never had cravings. I was just an overeater when I ate... So I have to assume from what I felt my body was telling me it was lacking or something. But in the moment that I was eating that grapefruit nothing else existed lol man it was good.

When were you banded? Its been 9 days for me now and I don't want food or to have to chew. They have me on mushies but I don't do it I stuck with the liquids for the most part. -
Yeah whatever they gave me to calm my nerves was almost enough just to perform the surgery. I was up running around my room in my bra and underwear lol.

APPROVED! And now I wait- any suggestions?
Brandy~ replied to Bandme08's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey Bandme  I too just joined the gym and I am hitting it hard and heavy.. alot of fun once u get past the burning in your muscles haha. before and after banding you learn patience because we are always waiting on something... waiting on insurance, surgeons, doctors, then after waiting on fills, restrictions, sweet spots... believe me patiences is definetly a virtue. I agree just don't do the whole farewell to food thing. If you must have a last walk down memory lane with food just make it 1 special day or a great night out or something with friends and family don't do a week long tour. Plus your life of food isn't over it's just gonna change in a more healthy way. You will still be able to have that cake once in a great while... just instead of the whole cake you will only want a few bites and a few bites isn't so hard to work off at the gym. Make sure you stock up on liquids for atleast the first week of your surgery. I kept broth, crystal lite, tons of Protein shakes around, ice chips in the freezer. I hate Jello but most like to keep that around in case your a sweets type person. You'll be fine and it will all go much quicker than you realize. patience patience patience Good luck! -
PRE-OP SHOPPING LIST - Please add your ideas...
Brandy~ replied to NancySmiles's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I just needed the liquids to drink and liquid tylenol. I don't think I used the tylenol but maybe 1 time. Other than that I was up running around the house the same day. -
Drinking while eating flushes it through faster so u can keep eating.
-
I would just leave them there. Call me paranoid but if they aren't hurting anything just let them fall off. Luckily I had inside stitching and glue on the outside so not guaze or steri strip.

Healing after surgery
Brandy~ replied to cathychatts's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
When they band on you they are manipulating and irritating the stomach to place the band. Plus your stomach has went all your life without ever being squeezed so its bound to swell up around the band. I had my surgery 8 days ago and haven't chewed on one thing and haven't wanted to either. -
i am staying on plan today because ...

Because I have to meet with my personal trainer today -
Hi Ashlee and welcome.. You have very cute babies

Before the surgery I was really worried about how it would affect me foodwise since I cook for a family of 4 so I would be near food all the time. I have the exact opposite problem then I thought I would... I hate food. I don't want to have to eat. I just have 2 EAS shakes per day 54 grams of Protein and the rest is Water or crystal lite. My doctor says it's normal and no biggie... I have restriction since I am only 1 week post op. I am wondering if this will change... I love cooking it even if I don't eat it so right now its nice to cook and smell all the yummy things but not have interest in eating them.

I am a belly sleeper... I am 1 week post op and was just finally able to lay on my side.. I am getting there lol
