surgery date set for June 30......very nervous!!!
Brandy~ replied to kacarter's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I know you're nervous and that happens to most people. I see you have a goal of 64 pounds thats great! So look at this liquid diet and post op diet as a way to kick start your weight loss. Just think some people lose 5 pounds and some lose 30 pounds... Just keep that in mind when the head hunger hits. You will be fine :tongue2: Come visit us often during the liquid phase we will keep you in line hehe -
Will the surgeon operate if I have allergies?
Brandy~ replied to Camel_Cracker's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am sure you'll be fine. I had a cold the day of my sugery and their response was .... were putting tubes to your lungs we dont need your sinuses lol Make a quick call to your doc today and ask if they postpone surgery when their is sinus issues caused by allergies. Just make sure you dont use allergy meds without asking them. -

Am I doing something wrong?
Brandy~ replied to MrsCooper's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well first of all I am a new bandster so I can't offer too much advise based on experience. But having dietitians in the family helps. I can only speculate that you're over eating with the amounts of food and the lack of exercise is just holding you back. Sure having the band is slowing your eating down time wise but not quantity. You really just need to focus on what you NEED to eat to lose. Measure out your food. The portion you scoop on your plate is probably alot different than when you weigh it. Have you been getting all your Water in? You can count any liquid you take in that isn't alcohol or caffeine towards your water count... SO why not mix it up and trick your tummy? Try having a cup of coffee preferably decaff in the morning. After about 30 minutes have a Protein bar with low carb, After about an hour have a cup of broth like you would coffee, for lunch make sure you take food that is very protein heavy. Try to steer from crackers or breads as they have carbs and sugars. For dinner take a salad plate and put your food on that... This actually tricks your mind into thinking that you just finished all that food. Another way to shock your system is hit the track even if you're just walking it will help speed the metabolism up. Oh and don't forget the water, water, water :tongue2: Since you're a lower BMI and closer to a goal you will have to work harder to achieve the overall results you are seeking. I wish you tons of luck  -
I have a 10cc band... I go in for my first fill in 2 days on 6/12 I hope they fill'er up! thanks for this thread :behindsofa:
-
I love LOVE LOVE crystal lite... my favorite is the grape or the ice tea. My dietitian told me that is all she drinks and that it's good for you. You can have anything to drink that is non caffinated and it will count as your fluid intake.

If you're doing as well as you say you are with the food part and restriction all I can say is........ Shock your system with a walk. I guarantee that if you either get on that tredmill or if you go for a walk around the neighborhood after a week or so you're going notice probably 3 things. 1) You feel more fit even if you dont do alot of exercise you feel better right away 2) lose weight 3) You will be slightly firmer and clothes fit different. As I tell my kids all the time..... Get up and move :behindsofa: I go to the gym and do 3.25 miles on the treadmill then I come home and ride 1-3 miles on my bike. Eventually I want to be doing 5+ miles on the treadmill.

has anyone had laperscopic surgery turn into an open surgery?
Brandy~ replied to shannongetsslim's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wow, I am sorry to hear that things didn't quite go as expected for you. I wish you the best and a speedy recovery. -
how long does the surgery take
Brandy~ replied to donna.furr's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doctor recorded in the notes that my surgery was 31 minutes long with no complications and just a band replacement. -
Sounds exactly like what happens to me with sushi... I have actually laid on a bean bag or a bed on my back and hung off the side when all else fails, let gravity help.

Would anyone know?? Birth Control pills !!!!
Brandy~ replied to jessbychurch's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am all for listening to what your doctors say... My doctor never made me quit my pills (For period issues) nor did I have to crush them and all went well. -
do you follow the post fill diet and why is it necessary?
Brandy~ replied to Linda Hamsing Rosen's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I am not totally sure why that all is other than to keep from agitating the stomach and or making it contract. My doctor just requires 24 hours of liquid after a fill but he also includes creamed Soups with no chunks. -
I haven't had any fills yet (will get mine on 6/12) But thats how I felt for the first 4 weeks after surgery and I sooooo miss it. Sounds just like how the band is suppose to work to me. I think what people tolerate and the amount changes with each fill for some people so each time I think it takes time and changes to get used to the new fill. Good luck! I can't wait to be where you are : )

I am sure you can probably find someone from Fill centers... plus I imagine since you're seeking medical care and your regular doctor is in another country you should be able to get some assistance.
-
I haven't had a fill yet (Will on 6/12) But I can eat whatever I want as long as it is tiny and chewed well. Bread is the only thing that is almost sure to get stuck. I make sure I cut everything (Even sandwiches) into tiniest pieces and pick at it with a fork. I make sure I take 1-2 minutes between bites and set the fork down. I find when I don't follow this thats when I regret it.

Does your DH or SO know how much you weigh?
Brandy~ replied to cQQlgirl's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
He has never asked but I don't hide it either. I agree with the others who said it's obvious they are overweight... Kinda hard to hide 200+ Pounds hehe -
Lost 7 pounds in one day and some NSV's+
Brandy~ replied to kagoscuba's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Very awesome :tongue2: That's great to hear of bandsters that are working hard at getting healthy! WTG and keep up the great work. -
Some go into a funk or a slight depression and feel like it was a mistake because they are missing food. You just have to work through it and stick to the diet.... Once you start seeing those pounds fall off you wont even remember the "omg I want real tasty food" feeling. Hang in there and keep posting.

Hello from Orange County, CA
Brandy~ replied to deniseg0824's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
The band is a tool it's not a miracle... For most it's just what we need to give us that extra help to lose and keep it off. If you follow the bandster rules to the best of your ability theres no way you cannot succeed. There is no easy way out. -
The only thing I recommend is listen to the stomach not the head hunger... It will not take much of not really being hungry to learn to control the eating habits. I loved the feeling right after surgery when I ould care less if I ate or not! I have my first fill on 6/12 and I will be outta bandster hell :tongue2: Good luck

Experiencing very slow weight loss
Brandy~ replied to NikkiH's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I would start with the doctor to see why you're experiencing this. I am sure once it's cleared up, you have fills, you will hit sweet spot and begin losing! Please let us know how it goes. -
Hi and welcome! I had mine in April and it's the best thing I ever did. Like you I felt great within just a few days of my surgery. Keep up the great work it really pays off :tongue2:

LOTS of people here were banded in Mexico. I think the majority of those were in TJ. There's threads on here you might do a search.... I know theres some great surgeons there.
