Haven't told my hubby :-(
Brandy~ replied to heidib's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My Bf/sig other is my biggest fan. He has had to watch me diet and go up and down over and over as much as 70 pounds each way. It's hard on everyone. I told him about it, he asked a few questions, 2 weeks later he announced that he got the money for the surgery. Luckily insurance ended up paying for it My big pay off will be going to hawaii once im at or near goal! If it wasn't for him I probably would of chickened out but he was there to back me up the whole way. -
Do you call the Doctors office often?
Brandy~ replied to Rivieramaya05's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I called my surgeons office alot more before my surgery. I was trying to get the insurance squared away. Don't worry about asking them questions via phone, email, or in person... I am sure you paid them for their time already  -
Newbie from Washington state

Hello and Welcome The road to surgery for some can be a trying time but it is very rewarding  -
Hi and Welcome! I am not from TN/KY but there is a thread in the forums that lists the different states... That would bring you closer to people in your area
-
Alot of people have the surgery done in Mexico since it's about 10,000 there. But there are doctors around the Us that also do it for 10,000. I know there is one in Colorado and one in Coosbay, Oregon.

I'm 6'2" and I weigh 370 pounds.

Hello and welcome! I am sure whatever answers you pose that someone else has had the same one on this forum. You will find a plethora of knowledge on this site, either fact or experience. -
I have my first fill tomorrow so I am not sure how this is going to affect me... But I currently eat carrots. I have a couple foods that already get stuck if I don't slow down so I am thinking carrots might have to go atleast the raw ones. Has anyone tried peeling them, does that help? I might have to switch to steamed carrots or something and just season them. They are my favorite veggie  I hate having to eliminate something that is good for me.

I wouldn't hold back from losing weight with a chance of not getting a fill. Everyone is different though. If you're starving then I would explain that to him and he should do some kind of fill.

I have had an appt for my first fill for 7 weeks now and I have counted the days down since I am in bandster hell. Well this morning I was so excited I packed up clothes that were easy to pull down from the port, the numbing creme they gave me, and a cover to put on my stomach for the cream... I am so set! I took the last couple hours of work off too so I could make the appt. I get to work and theres a voicemail from the doctors office saying they are sorry that my doctor wont be in today and neither will his partner... I needed to reschedule for the the 30th  How sad is that? I definetly let them know the inconvenience and dissapointment this has caused me. I paid for this appt ahead of time and they postpone it for their convenience.

Help! Wife is miserable
Brandy~ replied to Dustydog's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Having a major surgery on top of lapband surgery is a big thing. I am sure she is just going through the motions. The medicines usually mess with your feelings too along with the adjusting to life changes. Call the doctor and just let them know like the others said if its nothing they will tell you and put your mind at ease  -
Found the money so I'm moving forward!!!
Brandy~ replied to ladyinred66's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Thats norma lady... We all kinda get jittery in the pre op stage. It's a huge life change... But even though sometimes the thought of the changes are too scary... once you are living it you think 'wow this isn't so bad'. I love my band and I barely notice the changes. I think if anything I enjoy food more now. Before I would just shovel it in so fast it was how much can I get in there. Now I get to enjoy the taste more and converse with friends and family while we eat. -
Hi Sunshine and welcome  Yes, what you're experiencing is normal. Until you begin getting your fills you're going to have a little roller coaster of a ride. After surgery you have some restriction until the swelling goes down. Once the swelling is down we call it bandster hell... You should be getting a fill within the first 6 weeks after surgery. Some people feel the restriction with 1 fill and others it takes up to 6 fills. Be patient and read around on the forums theres alot to learn that comes wtih having a band. The more you know the more successful you will be  Remember the band is a tool if you use it right you cannot fail.

POLL - Whats your sweet spot in 10cc band?
Brandy~ replied to bunnykin4u's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
What a huge difference if you look at the poll as to how many CC's it takes each person to gethere. Really never can tell till you get the fills that's for sure. -
Oh man I was banded on 4/23 and the doctor is letting me have my first fill today I can't wait!
-
like I said I was back in the water after 2 weeks.. But as misflipflop pointed out theres germs. I think those are minimized by the chlorine so I wouldn't run out and jump in a river probably. I think it also depends on the type of covering u have for your incisions. I had inner stitches but the exterior was glue so it was pretty well sealed.

I go to the gym and use the treadmills a few times a week. I was thinking of sneaking in on an early morning and trying my hand at run/walk/run method for a short time to see if I can do it. I haven't lost that much but my fitness level is much higher now that I am moving. The feeling I would get of accomplishment would more than outweigh any scale
-
I go in for my first fill on the 12th so I liked watching your video Thank you!
-
You took the words out of my mouth. The size of the portion pales in comparison to the content.

I was in water aerobics at 2 weeks :tongue2:

I found a new multi vitamin... (FYI)

Chewable Protein Supplement
Brandy~ replied to tlwick's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I haven't been able to find a protein pill that has more than 1 gram in it... What have you tried? -
Hi and Welcome! I never felt hungry until about 3-4 weeks after surgey. The ones that dont feel hunger are probably the lucky ones. I had a hard time getting in all the protein too. Do not panick this is just for a short time. I talked to my doctor and he told me to do the best that I can to get it down and I did. I turned out ok :tongue2: just sip sip sip
