Hello and Welcome to LBT  -
Brand New - and really nervous!
Brandy~ replied to swcfolksinger's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hello and welcome to LBT! I also spent 2 years researching this surgery. I had a couple bumps in the road with pre qualifying for the surgery and such so that kind of kept my mind pre occupied on clearing those up instead of the surgery itself. This is a huge commitment and definetly a lifestyle change. I would do it again in a heart beat. You have made the right choice. I think that you will feel better after reading more success stories on the forums and getting to know everyone  -
Thats great and I am sure it made you feel wonderful  Keep up the great work!

I've Lost An Irish Setter And A Chihuahua
Brandy~ replied to renewedhope's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
This is cracking me up.. Each time someone responds I get an email saying "I've lost an Irish setter and Chihuahua" and everytime I think that someone lost their dogs  -
I measured myself too before my surgery and I haven't remeasured. I will save that for a time that I am too discouraged to pick me up. I have used the scale since surgery though. I have noticed even though I am not losing weight per the scale I have changed a couple pant sizes already so the scales aren't always telling the truth

Nettie I would go get therapy or some type of counseling... there isn't anything 'wrong' with you.. You just need help seeing yourself in a new light. You're beautiful and I am sorry you do not feel as well as you look.
-
Good luck! Let us know how it goes. Btw who is your doctor that is doing this?
-
Hello and Welcome to LBT  That's wonderful news and it's great your insurance will pay for it. I had BCBS of Minnesota and they paid for it as well. It's the best thing I have ever done :smile2: Good luck :rolleyes2:

not following diet post-op
Brandy~ replied to forme1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you trip up just move on... If you beats yourself up it will only cause more problems. I am sure that the band is still ok unless you are having side effects after eating the cheese. If you're having a hard time I agree with the others call the doctor and ask for suggestions of things to add in that are on the 'approved' list. Your doctor may even let you advance. He is is the one trained to make these descicions. -
Stay away from the band!!
Brandy~ replied to snoho's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am sorry to hear that you're having issues with the band. I think to be successful you need to follow a diet more closely of protein, get you water, exercise. Unless there is an issue with the band such as an over fill, slippage, corosion etc. -
Hello and welcome shir2bthin :rolleyes2: Your story is truely inspiring and I am sure it will brighten the day for many. I had my surgery 4/23 and have lost 28 pounds. I just had my first fill yesterday and HAVE RESTRICTION so I really hope to be reporting a story like yours very soon  Walks with Hope~ Welcome to LBT as well. I think making a life change like this is something you really need to be informed about. I would recommend to prepare for this surgery you read read read. Start in the pre op forums and read lots of the threads there. If you don't see a question asked that you have post one.... The only silly question is the one never asked :smile2:
-
I can't answer the question about the saline. I have just heard that its very common. I would love to hear an explanation for it as well. The second part is most people say listen to your doctor but in this case I think your doctor is stereotyping your surgery since you went out of the states... Go find another doctor that wants your business. Have you tried the fill centers of america? They started specifically for this reason I believe.

Just had first fill.. Is this aggressive?
Brandy~ replied to Brandy~'s topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Well my restriction is there.. I can already tell :cursing: I had the fill at 3:30 today and drank 6 oz of water before I left his office.. It's almost 7pm now and I am not hungry in the least. I did warm up a cup of broth and im sipping on that for dinner. Think I will use protein shakes for tomorrow though. He told me to go back to eating normal Friday.. Kinda scared.. chew chew chew! -
Do I really need a fill?
Brandy~ replied to sshaw9126's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think the drinking with meals has 2 different reasons... 1 it could wash the food through and you could eat more sooner and 2 They want you to fill up on solid protein/food rather than liquid. -
I lost like 16 pounds in the first week so you might have it made :smile2:
-
Oh no I am very sorry to hear that :smile2: I try to make it a habit to make the call 2x to confirm that I get the same answers.. Even then sometimes it doesn't work.
-
I have heard many different things about this and yes it is common and your band is probably just fine. Some say that there is a certain amount of evaporation of the Fluid. I wouldn't worry about it. If the doctor isn't concerned you should be just fine
-
This is the same description I was going to give as well.
-
I am getting my first fill today... thats almost 8 weeks since surgery. The doctor cancelled my appt for my last fill for an 'emergency' This is why they call it Bandster Hell... The time from Band placement till your fill. Good luck, believe me you're not the only one stuck in this situation. It will get better
-
Comparing weightloss is never a good idea. Everyones bodies are different and they lose weight different. You have lost 42 pounds... You're doing great!
-
I haven't even had a fill yet and sometimes when I am eating I have to stand up and move around. I can get everything down easier if I just stand to eat. I am not sure why since I can eat full amounts and do not have much restriction.

I love Cates analogy hahaha

I was banded in the US but I didn't have a pre op diet. My dinner the night before just had to be before 7pm. I ate at my favorite Italian restaraunt the night before I was done by 6 tho! lol
