    Newbie

If you join a weightloss center to go along with your band be sure that you get plenty of Protein.. Thats the most important part. I joined the gym and just work out 3x per week and ride my bike to work 6.5 miles each way. I just had my first fill so I am not sure how well all my hard work is paying off yet. I will weigh in at the end of this week. *crossing my fingers that I lost*
  3. Ok here is some history. I was banded on 4/23 and due to surgery I had lots of restriction for the first 3 weeks and lost 27 pounds. I was set to have my fill on 6/12. By the time 6/12 rolled around I could eat anything but I wasnt since I wanted to maintain the loss. The doctor called and cancelled my fill for emergency reasons on 6/12  I thought I was going to cry since this is all I was lookiing for.. So I was squeezed in for a cancellation on 6/18 for the first fill. When I went in I expressed to the doctor how hungry I was and wanted restiction. He told me that he would be aggressive with my first fill. He put 2.0 ccs in the band and had me dirnk 6 ounces of Water. I was seriously full trying to get those in so I went with it as happy as could be that it was tight. Now I havent felt a hunger pain 1 time in now 5 days and can only eat about 1/2 a cup. I woke up this morning and had lost slightly over a pound. Since surgery I have always exercised atleast 3-4 x per week for atleast 1-1.5 hours each time agressively. I plateaud after a couple weeks from surgery so this new loss is a huge thing to me. Could I have found a sweet spot this early? Or will it fade? I want to set my expectations correctly
  4. Thank you everyone for your great response  I will go read this :crying:
  5. Hello, Congrats, and welcome to LBT! You will find the best documentation is pictures not the scale

    Hello!

I have to put my 2 cents in here. I myself was not overweight at the age of 15 so I cannot really make a pure assumption on the emotional toll that this would have on someone at this age. I however, do have a daughter that is 15. I can say that if my daughter were obese at age 15 and felt the need or wanted the help with a WLS especially the band since it is reversable I would gladly get it for her. I think at 15 with enough help and counseling a child could be ready for the changes. I could not and would not ever standby and let my child be ridiculed or have emotional issues because of obesity. I commend you for stepping up and helping your daughter with this. There is nothing like getting your self esteem back and I think this would help her tremendously. There will be lots of effort for you as the parents and for your daughter relearning eating habits. Since you're the parent you will most likely need ot change the eating habits of the whole household. I wish u lots of luck on this journey.

    Approval!!

Its really different for everyone. I had full restriction after surgery and I never felt a hunger pain so I cared less if I ate or not. Once in a while my head would tell me that Iwanted to grab a burger and shove it in as fast as I could.. But then once I thought about it there wasn't hunger at all.. It was head hunger and my stomach was fine. You just learn the different signals. food loses all its glory for most and right now I am one of them I have to remind myself to eat and when I do its only 1/2 cup.

wow congrats about the date the weight loss! I was so excited when I got the call for the date that I wanted to just scream at the top of my lungs with excitement!
  11. :lol:Its been 5 days now and I haven't felt hunger 1 time and I can eat no more than 1/2 a cup! Happy days are here.
  12. I went to the doctor today for my first fill Hooray! Well, turns out I have a 4cc band instead of the 10 I tho ught I had. The best news for me was that my doc said he wanted to be aggressive with fills! Well I walked out with 2.0 in a 4cc...... So for those with this band is that aggressive?
  13. First post in this thread so be gentle j/k! Just had my first fill and finally restriction :rolleyes2: B- 1/2 cup cottage cheese S- 1 cup broth L- 1/2 cup salad and 2 oz shrimp D- 2 oz grilled chicken and 3 Whole grain crackers

    Great big bruise

I just had a fill 2 days ago and so far no bruising. The way he was poking and pushing with his fingers its a miracle! It wasn't so bad tho hehe

    Which milk is the best?

I actually like the non fat better since it is lighter. I don't like thick creams and stuff so the non fat has a better texture for me. Before being banded I didn't really care for drinking milk but lately I crave it.

    Can I eat it?

You just made me start thinking about them.... I gotta get back to good thoughts lol

    Alcohol ?

I stomach alcohol just fine but I avoid soda with it. The soda just gives me the instant full feeling. I am a cheaper date though as well now.

    Feeling like a failure

I don't have experience with this under my belt yet as I was banded on 4/23 but my weight stopped too. I am not in a panick yet though. I just wanted to say you're not a failure if you're following bandster rules. Just keep doing what you're doing eventually something has to give and when it does it will fly off of you
  20. I would let her know that her behavior wasn't acceptable even if there was alcohol. This is why I cordial with coworkers but have never show up at functions I was invited too.
  21. I am working out what I consider to be quite a bit and my scale stopped moving about a month ago. Since the scale stopped I have dropped 2 pant sizes. I am not totally sure what all is going on either. I just know that a scale is not the only measure of fitness and health. Your body is shrinking and you are creating lean muscle. Once the scale does move it will probably drop fairly quickly as long as you have kept up a good routine of exercise.

    Calling all April Bandsters!!!!

I just went for my first fill on 6/18. I was on fluids for 24 hours and could tell there was restriction. Then last night for dinner I had 1/2 cup of food and was full! This morning I had a 1/2 cup of cottage cheese and got this full feeling so I stopped right away. I don't have any hunger pains just some head hunger so I just keep feeding my mental urge with a drink of water each time. I can't wait to see if the scale is going to finally start moving. The doctor told me I could come back in 2 weeks if I wanted another fill. If I am still feeling like this I wont be going in. I have a feeling it will fade some and I will need to get another fill. I am at 2.0 CC in a 4cc right now.

    Constantly weighing yourself?

If I wasnt at work a millon hours a day I would probably just stand on the scale as well. Everywhere I have read about it they refer to it as scale addiction. Here is an article on it Your Health - CTV MedNews Express :: Do you have scale addiction? If you really think this is an issue get rid of the scale... I would seriously put it in the trash. Just use the scale at your doctors office when you go for appts. My doctor lets me just do walk ins and weigh myself whenever I am in the neighborhood.

    Riding my bike to work

I am looking for a cycle computer right now. I just don't want to spend a ton on one atm. I am from Eugene, Oregon the friendliest bike place in the U S hehe I used to only be able to do a few miles as well but I can make it to work in what I feel is a pretty reasonable amount of time and still get a good work out. I am hoping to get my stamina up a little more and make longer rides just for fun. Brandy

    Hello Everyone

Hello and welcome to LBT  While reading this I am actually sitting here eating lunch at my desk from work. Yesterday I had my band filled with 2cc's so I am on liquids till about 4pm today so I am just having chicken broth for lunch... Otherwise I eat a normal meal like everyone else just about 1/4 of what they do. When I cook at home I eat the same thing my husband and my kids are eating. If they have burgers for dinner I take 1/2 of one (not able to eat it all tho) I guess my point is you have lifestyle changes that you will have to make but there shouldn't be a huge impact on the foods you can eat other than the quantities. You definetly wont be eating puree for life
