Age 21, Obese, Lapband, Childbirth????
Brandy~ replied to kelreid3's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I initially found out about the band because I had my tubes tied in 1996 and now with my new husband we would like to have another child. I wanted the reversal but I am 40 pounds too heavy for the surgery they told me to get lapband since insurance paid for it. So here I am omw to a healthy me so I can have a reversal and a new baby :Angel_anim: I must be crazy though since mine are teens now.. adding a baby is goind to be an adventure haha -
Congratulations, Hope you have a speedy recovery :Angel_anim:

The guy on "I Lost It" has to be pretty shallow. I take that with a grain of salt. Most DH/SO would never be that low.

Thanks! I will take a look at that one.

Is moving away the last stage of recovery?
Brandy~ replied to Manatee's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I am nowhere near my goal weight but I already know how you feel. I eat, sleep, breath weight loss... and so do those around me. I am going nuts. When I hit a plateau I thought it was going to kill me because every comment from friends and family was asking if I lost weight, how it was going, was I exercising... They are trying to be supportive but once in a while you need to disconnect yourself from the weightloss and focus on other aspects of life. New starts can be great! Just make sure you are really ready emotionally for a change like that.. Anyone with a band knows what preparing emotionally is like. Congrats on the weight loss and I wish you the best of luck in whatever you decide :Angel_anim: -
Hi Jody, No I am in the States (Oregon) I put alot of my meats in the food processor so I am not really sure you will just have to play with it. Oh another thing that is good is the tyson chicken in a can... Very high in Protein, very soft, and juicy... It's already cut into tiny peices or slices like tuna and just falls apart. I keep that mixed up with some italian dressing or lite mayo in the fridge. Only about a 1/3 of a can for me and I get about 19 grams of protein I think.

WALKING ON TREADMILL before your 2 before your 2 week post opt appointment?
Brandy~ replied to Heatherooni's topic in Fitness & Exercise
My doctor told me walking was fine as long as it wasn't in excess. I would say it's a natural function so I am sure it's ok. Just make sure to listen to your body and not over do it. -
Thanks. I did start a thread and hopefully that will help me make my decision. Until then I will keep on riding :Angel_anim:

Hello and welcome Jody :Angel_anim: I had my surgery 4/23 so were pretty close there! I quit smoking at the beginning of 2007 so that really hasn't affected me craving wise. When you say you're afraid to eat.. are you too tight? Are you chewing food until its pure mush or liquifide? The foods you're eating they call sliders and you really should avoid them as your staple foods so that would be my concern. Protein needs to be you're big thing I am sure you know that. If you have a hard time slowing down do what I have done... I take a 2 oz chicken breast seasoned and then put it in the food processor.. This chops it small and then you can practice chewing more. If you're getting stuck with this you really do need an unfill.

It's my turn, i got my exact date of surgery!!!
Brandy~ replied to ocbreeze4u's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congrats OCBreeze Congratulations. You're right you CAN do this. I applaud you for your perseverance and all the hard work you have put in to get here... That's definetly a mix for success. I don't get the diet thing either with shrinking the liver and such because my surgeon told me if I lost 5-10 pounds and kept it off before surgery that he didn't care if I did the pre op diet. So I lost 8 pounds and had Italian as my last dinner before surgery at my favorite restraunt.... I just had to have eaten it before 7 pm the night before LOL Good luck! -
The Dreadful 6 months diet requested from the Insurance Company!!
Brandy~ replied to Nelis's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was so sad that I had to do the 6 month diet at first... I started in October of last year on it.. That is when I decided I was going to use that time to learn all I could about the band and get to know others on here. I think those 6 months gave me more information and prepared me for the life changes than I could ever imagine. I have BCBS and they paid all but 1500 of my surgery and I had it performed in my hometown. It's nice knowing they are only 5 minutes away if I need an unfill. The one thing you will learn on your journey to the band or your journey with the band.... Patience. Bandsters are always waiting on something... Tests, pre op requirements, surgery, post op, fills, unfills... It really comes with the terroritory and eventually it's just routine. -
Hello and welcome! Wow it sounds like you're doing great in your weight loss  I am very sorry to hear you have had some complications. Hopefully it's smooth sailing from here on out.

Are Fills Painful?
Brandy~ replied to greyhoundmom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I didn't feel a thing. My doctor has you put lidocaine on the port 30 minutes before coming into the office. Once you're there he used needle to numb the area (which you dont feel cause the surface was numb from lidocaine) Then he does the fill in a reclining position. He just says if you feel chest pain let me know. I didn't feel any I just got good restriction. -
Hello and Welcome to LBT :tt1:

When will I get skinny?
Brandy~ replied to sdgirl25's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Unfortunately patience is going to be your friend in this adventure. I too was banded on 4/23 so I am now all knowing. I think I have been on the forums though long enough to realize unrealistic expectations. I too was extremely impatient and wanted everything to happen very quickly. I think being at a plateau for 4 weeks humbled me. I am not losing weight! I started working out more and logging my food with daily plate and I was able to see where I was going wrong. In the meantime while you're waiting on fills I would find something productive to do related to weight loss. Start logging your meals religously, watch the Water intake, exercise more, just get out and move in general. If you have something to focus on it will help the time pass much quicker.
