Who i want vs. who my PCP wants...
Brandy~ replied to L.J's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Go with whom you've chosen.. Period. I chose my surgeon and then my PCP tried to steer me another direction. I just politely said. I have researched many surgeons and the one I have chosen was highly recommended. While I respect your medical opinions I would really like to have the surgeon I have chose. She was great about it and agreed that I should choose the person I am comfortable with and wrote me a letter of recommendation. If they won't do that for you they are being petty and not professional. It's your health don't settle for someone else. -
Wow if thats the whole story I would surely change doctors... The biggest part of losing is having your fills..

Okay Seriously how much do you eat?
Brandy~ replied to armywife4life's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I am at my sweet spot and a normal day for me is 8 am 1 egg 10am 1 wedge laughing cow lite with 1 slice of lunch meat 1pm 1/2 a sanwich .. about 1/3 way through I take the bread off too full to eat it 5 pm dinner 1 oz meat and 1/4 cup veggies 8 pm 1/2 a fat free pudding cup -

-
You and I are pretty much the same. I have lost 38 pounds and have 2.1 cc in my 4.0 band. I have my sweet spot now and cant wait to be a big loser

Are you in your sweet spot? How many calories?
Brandy~ replied to SanDiegoPhotog's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I don't have to count calories either but I do on and off to make sure I am on track. There is no way I could take in 1200 calories in a day and I am at my sweet spot. I would have to spend the whole day nibbling to meet that... or eat unhealthy and I don't do that. I probably hit between 800-1100. The only time I get near 1100 is when I have my glass of wine at night... Other wise I am close to 800. I am at my sweet spot since my fill on 7/8 (I havent had one hunger pain) I lose 1-3 pounds a week depending on my level of activity and I have awesome energy. I have made a goal of 9 pounds per month and so far I am on track for it. -
Jodi is right about the bread.. I can eat it but it takes some work. I usually just avoid it though. I haven't PB'd or Slimed yet... I think that if you're informed you will be much more careful when you eat so you won't have to experience it. Most people have had atleast a couple episodes though.

Yeah no clothes would be better in the heat haha

Hey all just checking in. I have been making a monthly goal so I don't have to see a huge ticker with big numbers :crying: I have lost about 40 pounds.. all of which was post surgery since I didn't have a preop diet... so things are going great! I think I found my sweet spot in 2 fills so I am VERY lucky. I can't wait I wanted to lose 107 pounds and now I have 67 to go! My wedding is on the beach in Kauai on 2/7 so I hope to be close to goal... I am tryig so hard to be a model bandster so I can wear whatever I want on the honeymoon...

I have went through many posts and I do not see this as a subject. This might sound like I am scheming.. So I guess in a way I am. I call it planning ahead hehe. So far I have had really good luck with my insurance.. So my question is.. Even though I am only 30% of the way into my weight loss should I be going to see the doctor just so I have documentation of issues excess skin causes? So I ride my bike about 13 miles a day and sometimes if I do not wear something to protect the extra skin on the lower stomach I get a rash from it rubbing... This also happens when I jog/walk fast. Has anyone experienced being turned down because they couldn't document it or have they been approved because they did?

I would write a very nice professional letter to the editor with the success stories and the hard work you have put into the bands. If you write just cussing and being offensive then that's just as low as the article. So if you write them lets represent the lap band community in a professional manner

I am 40 pounds down and just noticed the other day my upper roll is almost gone! So when I saw that in the mirror I was so excited... Now working on the love handles haha

I am staying on plan today because I have 7 months to hit goal for my beach wedding in hawaii! -
Truely inspirational. Do you have a blog or a site where you have tracked progress? Call me corny I like to read other banders blogs. You have got to be over the moon. Your post made me realize how it's a reality to reach my goal. I have 69 till goal. I will work that much harder now

My personal experience has been awesome with the band. I didn't have a preop diet so I didn't lose weight before surgery. I actually ate at my favorite italian place the night before surgery  I had surgery on 4/23. I lost about 20 pounds the first month then the weight loss stopped for 3 weeks. I then had 2.0 cc put into my 4.0 cc band and was instant heaven with restriction. I started losing about a pound a week. I went right back to the doc and told him to give me a tiny fill to get my sweet spot... He did and now I am at my sweet spot. I lose 2-3 pounds a week. If you look at my ticker that is my July goal and if all continues to go well I should exceed that goal  Right now I ride my bike to work a few days a week.. Thats about it for exercise. I do get out and about though since its summer and do activities without considering them exercise so that might be part of it. I do notice a slow down in weight loss when I am not riding my bike to work though. I originally had a ticker with my entire weight loss goal and after seeing how far I had to go it was kind of hard to see it long term... so I have switched to a monthly one so that I can always feel like im close to a goal. I wish you lots of luck with your band journey and a very speedy recovery.

Good luck! I wish you a very speedy recovery walk, walk, walk

Thinking about it in NC, Insurance?
Brandy~ replied to artsy298's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
There was no way around the 6 month diet for my insurance. Although I was dissapointed I began the appointments with the dietitian in Oct/07 and then had my surgery in April/08. I was impatient at times but I learned ALOT in those 6 months and I think that helped me to be more prepared for what was gonna happen after the band. -
Congrats on your band :frown: Now the journey begins!
-
Hello and Welcome to LBT. Congrats on your surgery :frown: I wish you quick healing!

I don't know if my surgeons office has a clothes swap I will check though. I have just been bagging up my clothes and was going to make a photo album online of them and let other bandsters pick them out for free as long as they pay shipping.
