Brandy~ replied to judiboo's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I need to lose 107. I am 4 month post op and have lost 48 pounds. I am sure I can hit my goal and keep all my internal parts -
I don't think I would offer the info about being banded but I would tell them that you lost a large amount of weight since taking out the policy hehe
-
You're doing wonderful! If your weight slows down then you can kick it in gear with exercise I am almost 5 months post op at -48 too

I worked in a hospital for about 4 years and I know exactly what you're talking about. Although I wasn't in the bariatric field the things that come out of their mouths it utterly ridiculous. They should be trained professional but yet they talk like school yard children. I am very sorry that they do this in front of you. WLS of any kind is an emotional rollercoaster and their comments really do not help. I would probably suggest more sensitivity training and going over the employee manual again... specifically the part of professionalism.

I chose it as it is less invasive, the slower is slower over time, The adjustments on how much you can eat are up to your and your doctor. I like that I can have the restriction changed at anytime if I were to need it for any medical reason.

Good luck!

I agree that it does it to me everytime... Lots of wine and salt.. Or you could just have margaritas with TONS of salt or Bloody mary's haha. You're gonna have a hang over at the doc but fun doing it. You could also eat lots of sunflower seeds in the shell avoid Water until after the appt. In the car in the parking lot of the doc office eat a combo meal supersized! LOL Oh and rolls of quarters weigh 7.5 ounces so put 2 of those in your pocket for a good 1.5 pounds or wear ankle weights.

I guess my TOM is strange then... My band goes tight a couple days before it... I swell up like a whale and then when TOM finally hits my whole body unbloats. TOM hit me today so I am hoping with all this liquid I am taking in today that it will show on the scale tomorrow or atleast go back to normal. I am on a strong dose of birth control though (for regulation) and it limits my periods to 1-3 days a month maybe thats why?

Mom I have a sweet tooth in the evening around my snack time. So the way I have curbed it is replacing my evening snack with a trail mix that includes chocolate chips. I get the best of both world and it's really good. On another note. I wish everyone the best that is in the storm areas at the moment. We will be hoping for the best.

I get tired before and during. I was on mushies yesterday cause of it. I hate TOM!!!

Has anyone tried Alli??
Brandy~ replied to Realblondi's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
They call the bathroom problems with this pill ALLI OOPS! does that answer it? I gave the bottle of pills away. -
Exactly what I was going to say. I was 267 at surgery and I was given an initial goal of 180... Thats still obese but it falls in their guidelines of the % of body weight that is average to lose for a bandster... I don't know how they got those statistics because from what I see alot of people are much more successful. However, I plan to blow that goal out of the Water. I will go to 160 and if I feel as if I need to lose more I will. I am short so I will try to set my own expectations realistically.

Paying remaining balance after surgery.
Brandy~ replied to wvgal33's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Every place is different. I paid what I thought was my copay and then had the surgery... Once insurance was billed there was a balance and I got a bill. I paid that a couple months after surgery. But the best part of was there was an error in billing and I got it all and then some back lol. I didn't even care I got the bill and paid it cause I was so happy I had the surgery. I would just call and ask them. -
Most of the time I do not even eat Breakfast for breakfast.. if that makes sense lol. I have diced pieces of lean meats or veggies, I eat alot of Protein shake, Avacados, fish, poultry, red meat, low-fat cheese (cottage cheese, feta, mozzarella, Muenster), eggs, and tofu, leafy green vegetables, tomatoes, peppers, broccoli, eggplant, zucchini, green Beans, asparagus, celery, cucumber, mushrooms. All of these are higher in protein and low in carbs. Mix and match!

Need support/advice from my april avengers!!!
Brandy~ replied to jdessel's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Ok now I know I am not the only one that does these things! These are just a few of the things I do just to get a little extra movement each day. walk up and down the 2 flights of stairs we have in our house atleast 10x per day. If I have to go upstairs to get something I will for example walk up, walk down, walk up (get the item) , walk back down. I do this all the time  Theres some days where I end up walking up and down 30 times without even trying. When I go out to check the mail I walk around the block before getting the mail... Only takes 5 minutes but its something. Like mamakatken said when you do laundry do squats when loading. When I am cooking dinner and have a minute while I wait for something to finish I do stretches for my legs and back etc. I throw the ball for my dog even just a few minutes of running and playing with them does alot of great things. After work take a 20 minute walk to start off slow. For a short walk like that you dont need anything fancy.. Just hit the sidewalk in your work clothes. At work for your breaks go outside and walk around the block takes less than 15 minutes normally and you feel refreshed when you go back inside. I have a desk job and eat at my desk so for my lunch I go for a short quick walk around the block then sit in the sun for the last bit of lunch. Go out dancing with friends it's an amazing workout! If you have 'on demand' with you cable company try some of the workouts on there. My daughter loves them I prefer not to be tied to the TV. That or you can get a DVD or VHS pretty cheap for low impact aerobics. I like sweatin to the oldies thats pretty fun to do. The possibilities are endless. You juts have to be creative Another thing to motivate you is even if you can afford just a cheap pedometer you can wear it to see what your steps were for 1 day and then each day try to out do the previous one :frown: -
Wow you're almost 1/2 way through your weight loss! Pick that chin up, get a minor adjustment, and you will be back on track
