A little stupid question but how long did it take to get banded?
Brandy~ replied to CollegeJoe's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I was under 39 minutes. -
I probably wouldn't get a full unfill.. of course thats entirely up to you. I would ask for 1/2 of what is in the band to come out so that it can rest then have mini fills later in the future.

Is this what restriction feels like???
Brandy~ replied to midwestchickie's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Yes, eventually you will only have the option of food or drink lol... That's how it went for me anyway. If I eat my food and decided I have to have a drink a few minutes later. I will pay for it. -
Soooo Frustrated.. Can someone please help me??
Brandy~ replied to Mississippi Gurl's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
The fill part is what turned me off from Mexico. I understand your situation and if you can fly back for 350 I probably would. Fill centers pop up all the time. I would keep an eye out and keep calling around. You never know when they will change their policies. -
I answered this poll a while back and said I hadn't lost hair. However, after about 5 months post op I thinned out and it was noticeable to me. no one else said anything. I started taking Biotin again and I am back to normal again.

I was totally in denial about my weight. Never thought I was ever as big as I was. My 'moment' was when I decided to have a tubal reversal surgery to have another baby.... I was told I was too high risk for the surgery and was pre diabetic. I am eligible for the surgery now and plan to have it after my wedding in February.... All thanks to the band.

Technically you probably could do that.. But I would'nt because as mentioned it based on the timing of the step. I like my Wii. I view it more of a game than an exercise so I have alot more fun playing it. It actually has 40 activities I am sure. There's alot.

Hey CC. I was 271 when I started with this journey so I feel your pain. I can't stand to see my old pictures. You should post a current one in the april avengers strut your stuff if you haven't

Different companies make different bands and sizes. Yes, it means that yours can hold more. However, the initial fills they give you are way larger than mine were. getting 3CC's on your first fill is good. Some doctors are too afraid to make the restriction too tight so they go with 1cc sometimes even .5 so you're doing good.

Hello Molly. Unfortunately it's different for everyone. Some people have restriction from the band being put on, some with one fill, and others with 10 fills. My magic number was 4 fills and I am at full restriction. I have 2.75cc in a 4cc band.

Brandy~ replied to txspatter's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hello and Welcome to LBT. Those insurance hoops can really put someone in a tail spin. If you stick to it though it all works out. I had BCBS but did have the 6 month diet. It all worked out fine and had my surgery in april. I am the sure everything will work out great for you. I wish you the best of luck and a very speedy recovery hope to see you around the boards! -

10 days to go before the band
Brandy~ replied to linda.watersj's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hello Linda and welcome to LBT. I was very fortunate with my surgery and recovery. I was only out from work for a few days. The only recommendation I can give to anyone and what seemed to help me was: I talked to the surgeon in the OR before being put under and begged him to make sure he sucked out all of the air in my abdomen after the surgery.. and after the surgery first chance you have get up and start moving and continue this regimen at home. I never felt 1 gas pain and was never uncomfortable after the surgery and I believe it's because of the surgeon and my agressiveness to keep moving. -
Surgery Dec 11 & freaking out (smoking issue)
Brandy~ replied to rm10040's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I understand that quitting smoking is a hard thing to do. However, if you're doing something drastic enough like surgery to become healthier why would you want to put that in your lungs? I am not preaching to you because I was a smoker. I just had to look at it as I want to be healthy. I didn't want to trade one thing for another. I just simply had to quit. I used the patch after a failed attempt of cold turkey. You're gonna have to dig deep to find that will. I wish you the best of luck. -
Hello and welcome to LBT. I know it can be overwhelming but it's so worth it. Normally you will Go to orientation get paperwork done get bloodwork done get phsyc testing done have pre op appt surgery Sometimes if your insurance requires it you will have to meet with a dietitian or have a medically supervised diet for 3-6 months before having the surgery. Some surgeons require you lose a certain amount of weight prior to the surgery to shrink your liver or have a liquid diet.

Spread Sheet for Tracking April Avengers 08
Brandy~ replied to GiGiRN's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
It's awesome to see how well everyone is doing  -
Congrats on your loss!! Wow 1 hour on Elliptical you're doing awesome. I would keel over! the 150's is awesome you're doing so well :w00t: I don't normally run on the treadmill at the gym. I do really fast walks and such. I reserve the jogging for the running trails we have around town here. When I am on task I run for a certain amount then walk, run, walk etc. helps to break up the routine. Wow there is someone else that wakes up and weighs themselves in the middle of the night! I too thought I was gonna need an intervention. Nice to see there's others like me. I even want a new scale for xmas.

I do fine with alcohol.. just be careful it's empty calories.
-
My doctor said we could take any of the pain relievers. Maybe you took it on an empty stomach?

Hope your fill went well and that you're able to get some restriction back
