  4. Hi Wendell! It's been a very long time since I've seen you online! I remember you from OH, some years ago! Glad to see that I can read your posts on another site - you really have some great ideas! Good to see you again!

    High Fructose Corn Syrup commercial

I believe the government is launching a probe at HFCS regarding metabolic syndrome, etc. Makes sense for the manufacturers to start a media blast about it but what is sad is that the "average" person out there is going to believe their message and disregard any disputes or evidence to the contrary. ~Vickie
  6. ...my gullet is open. I was given 4 ccs in my APS and am wondering how many of you had an "open gullet" feeling with lots of burping? The pressure at my band/diaphram area is tolerable but I'm questioning that open gullet feeling like before you throw up. I'm on liquids for at least 2 days with instructions to cautiously proceed to mushies to solids afterwards. It was neat to see the fluro, I even saw the slight "pooling" of barium and Water in my esophogus...I know the feelings won't stay forever but I'm just curious how many of you experienced the same sensations! TIA ~Vickie __________________ Thank you for posting this thread....now, I know that I am not alone in the throat thing.

    Best Solution for Nausea?

I had the same thing in hospital but I received a shot. When I got home I had some compazine suppositories ready, of which I used only 1 so far. Call your surgeon and have them call in a prescription ASAP. Always good to have an emergency supply - just in case!

    Band Size, Any info???

AP-S. My surgeon told me the size depends on the size of the stomach. I don't know what part of the stomach he was referencing to though.
  11. I was banded on Oct 15 and I love my surgeon, Dr Scott Cunneen at Cedars Sinai. Funny, direct, top of his game, is the co-director of the Bariatric Surgery division. I have clean puncture wounds, no infections, he fixed my hiatal hernia and have had no problems thus far. I would go for Cedars Sinai. Nice hospital, great staff and heck, it's local to you!
  12. I'm getting ready to go to bed. Today I spent quite a bit of time at Target walking, walking and slowly walking. Now my Protein intake is 60-70 grams and my Water is 1.5 litres. I keep down my broth, sugar free popsicles. About an hour ago an area on my back has just reared up on me. It is at the bottom Right rib cage and feels very very sore. It's pretty localized. I'm just feeling blahhhh. My urine output has been kind of funny. Has anybody else had orange-tint like output the first week or so after coming home? I'm calling my surgeon tomorrow morning and report this. I hope I don't have to go back to the hospital but will if I must. My mother was really surprised that I did as much as I did today, she thinks I'm just wiped out. Has anybody experienced this? :help: Vikki

I'm sorry I'm on drugs right now. I just noticed that you had your surgery on Oct 16! Congratulations!

    help hiatal hernia

Yes I do. It was far noticeable the first couple days after surgery but it is now starting to subside. I can tell you though that if I twist or reach up with my left arm I feel a tightness - almost a tug - on my left side under my breast. My cat just used my upper belly as a mattress this morning right at that same spot and I just needed to take my lortab. There is a different kind of pressure up above, way above like just above my breastbone. In a few days it will go down. The best thing to use is a heating pad and wear no bra. Maybe your doctor can order an ugi to check the size of your hernia. If it is 8 or so, I don't see why he can't fix it while he gives you the band. Be aware though that you should take off a few more days off if you have that repair done. :rain: I think you'll be fine!
  15. Hello everybody! My name is Vikki and I had my Lap Band surgery on Oct 15 at Cedars Sinai by Dr Scott Cunneen. I am happy that I did not chicken out as I was really scared in the pre-op room. My surgeon found and fixed a "large" hernia (8cm) and they discovered that I am also a diabetic. Diabetic enough to warrant an insulin shot every six hours. My recovery so far has been surprisingly easy. Must easier than I expected. I see my new AP band as a true blessing because without my surgery I would've never known about my above medical issues let alone my apnea. So happy to be here!:bounce: Vikki
