  1. Search Beliteweight in YouTube and watch Dr Rod in action. It's confidence inspiring. They uploaded entire proceedures if you can watch them without freaking yourself out.:-)
  2. @okiebon. There were 4 doctors on the surgery team and all of them came to see me all 4 days in the hospital. All of them were nice and all spoke solid English. The nurses do not. Be ready for that with a handy dandy translator phone ap. There are several YouTube videos of dr Rod performing surgery. Worth watching.
  3. I arrived Monday at about 11AM in El Paso. I had surgery around 3PM. By Wednesday I was really ready to go home but they keep you 4 days. I traveled home Thursday afternoon and was perfectly fine to go to work Friday. I don't have a super physical job, but I was fine walking around and standing and sitting. Nobody at work thought anything of my 4 day absence. :-). I know that not everyone is quite so easy. Some have hernias and such that I didn't have to deal with.
  4. @@Rocky1 Surprisingly, the Dr's were very free with their cell phone numbers and email addresses. However, I've had no reason to use them as I've had no problems. I believe that BeLiteWeight would be helpful if needed but have not experienced that. I would ask them how they do handle complications......
  5. I switch my phone to international with the carrier and use wifi a lot. Much easier than land line phones from a hospital bed.
  6. @@ptownkween - or you could go to Mexico where 30 is more like their limit. That's what I did with a lower BMI. Very happy. A lot of less overweight people use that option.

    Dying for some gumbo

Ha ha ha! At 8 weeks ......can't you have some?
  8. I had Dr Rod in Juarez 8/11/14. Could not be happier. Highly recommend. I had the sleeve Monday afternoon and was back to work Friday in Florida - pain free and complication free.

    Half Marathon

Yes - but if you're still carrying a significant amount of weight you should probably train for that. A 300% increase in distance is tough of the body. Go online and get a 1/2 marathon training schedule and just walk it.

    who to choose in mexico

I had great results with Dr Rodriguiez in Juarez at Star Medica hospital.
  11. I felt that way, too. I was sure that the surgeon had left 95% of my stomach in there. I had no problem drinking ANY amount of liquids. I was really worried! But 3 months later? I eat 2 oz of steak and 1-2 an egg and I have to lay down for awhile because I overate. It's CRAZY how little will fill you up. (Of solid protein, that is.). Hang in there. Everything changes.

    Why worry ?

Well - carrying extra weight is more likely to take you from your son than surgery.

    Older sleeve patient advise.

Ha ha ha! You shall eat again! I am almost 3 months out and can eat anything - just not very much of it. Last night had a salad with cheese and the best grilled steak on it with deviled eggs on the side. I was able to eat 1/2 of one egg and about 2 oz of steak before I was full. I actually kept eating a bit more because although I FELT FULL - I couldn't actually grasp that I WAS full after eating so little. I actually overate just a bit on accident. And, yup, you COULD eat a pizza burger but not much of it and you'll be making better choices as you see the weight come off, anyway.:-)
  14. I am looking, too! I got sleeved in Mexico and know there are great surgeons there.

help, im gaining, and im feeling down

If you have to make a choice between getting your diet back on track and your exercise- I'd work on the diet. One protein bar too many defeats an hour's worth of exercise. I'd start over and go back to what you were doing right after surgery. And log everything you eat. (Yuck. I know. I hate that, too.)
  16. James - what would you like to know?

    FL - Tampa

I was sleeved 8/11. As I was self pay, I made the decision on a Wednesday to go the following Monday. Only a few days a pre diet. No long stories of insurance struggles.:-) How do you private message on this forum? I have not made any public announcements about surgery and my Facebook page is as public as it gets.:-)

Alyce - I am in S Tampa. You'll see me regularly slogging up Bayshore.:-)
  19. I'm 5'8" and MY goal weight is lower than 150. She's jealous. Keep going.

Losing patience, where did it go?

I agree with Bellabil. You might have a bit of anxiety which can make you irritable. Exercise and sun help that. You also might just be tired of being pushed around or overlooked and have gotten the confidence to no longer be a doormat.

    Bad breath?

Well - my Dr's never told me I can't have gum so if I were you - I'd go renegade and try it. Worst that can happen is you get gas - so you quit.:-) I like Listermint strips but gum is still better and I've had no problem with gum. I'm about 2 months out.
  22. Yeah! What KQH said! :-). Every Dr has a different protocol. Mine has over 10k WLSs under his belt and his is nothing like yours. I stay low carb but not carb free. At 2 months out, I can eat fruit and vegetables, cheese, etc. I'd research and make the best decision for you.
