    Lactose intolerant? What to drink?

if you can find it they do make a Slimfast lactose free, its called easy to digest. Or what I did was mix CIB with lactate milk and add in some sf instant pudding mix to jazz up it up soy milk is another option a couple weeks after my surgery I was able to move back to regular fat-free milk. thank goodness
  2. I quit 5 months before my surgery, been a smoker for more years than I want to admit. I wanted to make sure I could do it before I had surgery. It has to be the BEST thing I have ever done for myself!!! Even more than the band. I have slipped up here and there...only having a puff or one but that is it. I refused to buy them or keep them on my person. Hang in there and stay strong you will feel better :bounce:
  3. ? my mom had bc and has since passed they said I am not at risk but it was estrogen feed by HRT. I have since been put on birth control pills, is this an option for you? I have the liquid Tylenol, its okay but I seem to go thru it faster than pills.

I took some the chewable Benefiber (its good!) today. I hope its okay? I also use stool softeners (colace) that shouldnt be problem right?
  6. Lizzie I just wanted to say thank you for sharing, I am in that post surgery pre-fill phase and just had a small gain. One that I had me doubting myself and falling back into self defeating bad habits. Your post and the replies have changed my outlook :bounce:

    Not Enough, Really?

this is just the thread I was looking for. I joined a gym pre-surg and have been going 3-4 x a week, once there I cant get beyond 30 mins on the treadmill, or bike or elliptical. I am only a few weeks post-op and would like to move beyond just 30mins. I use an ipod and there are flat screens. But I just hate to do more than 25-30 mins its like I cant wait to get out of there. Should I work try to increase my intensity or try to work out longer?
  11. please forgive me and as I am a noob. I know that eating solid food bf your doctor recommended is a no-no. I was under the impression from my doctor that this was bc you could vomit and therefore cause a slip. I did not know that basic digestion of solid food could also cause the band to slip. I do understand that the stomach has to heal but I have never heard of this ridge thing before. Can someone clarify and perhaps include some references I can read?

Tocay I am 14 days out and I finally feel back to my oldself sidenote: you shouldnt drive if you are on narcotics

    Keeping secrets

I was careful about who I told at first I wanted to keep it a secret bc I am so scared I will fail. I got up the guts to tell my extended family after reading a post (here?) from someone who regretted not telling people bc she often got asked how she lost so much weight. She felt bad having to lie bc they were never told. On that note I didnt tell my coworkers all they know is I had abdominal surgery
  18. I had my surgery there as well but with is his associate Dr Vernon (female). They were named a Center of Excellance in 2006 and the nursing care I received on 15b was of the highest quality. I cant say enough.

    Getting to know you...

    Hanover MA banded at B & W's 11-13-07
  21. I’ve only been banded a week and it seems as if I have developed the common post surg lactose intolerance (oh man it was horrible). Tried the pills and they didn’t work. Doing okay with soy and lactose free milk but was wondering if this will continue forever? Will I have been able to tolerate dairy again

    Recovery Stories :)

today is one week since I was banded 11-13-07 at Brigham $ Womens Hostpital in Boston MA. its been a slow recovery and today is day 2 back at work. Was on some really heavy narcotics (not sure if this slowed my recovery or not), and still feel weak....hard to get all the protein in and still very tired.
