can you tell us the symptoms of your slip? it sounds like you have the right mindset and it stinks you have to go thru surgery again.
-
great thread I too have struggled with eating (getting down) healther foods and coming to terms with the fact that I can only eat a very small amount of hard protien vs more quanity of the chips and Cookies.

Finding the right fill level.. Can you relate?
nomadem replied to jennalee's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
although I am only 6 months out from surgery, I think I can relate. Right now I am on my second unfill and the loosest I have ever been. I hope to get a very slight fill to help me with the hunger that if I am honest I havent really felt since before surgery -
Has anyone had this done in Massachusetts?
nomadem replied to LSF's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hello and welcome. I went thru the program and Brigham and Womens hospital. We are lucky here in MA bc we have so many top notch hospitals here. check out the local MA support thread here Massachusetts Local Lap-Band Support -
it was nice to see and meet everyone at Mondays meeting. I am going to try to go June meeting too what do you all think?

most of the floor is dedicated (on 10) but I do think there are some medsurg mixed in. IMO there arent enough bariatric patients to fill the floor. I will say the care I received was excellant, mostly one-to-one.

it could be the texture of the eggs like in hard boiled or scrambled..too rubbery. I have no problem with over easy also be careful with drinking after you feel stuck that can cause more pain

Should I switch programs? Looking for advice..
nomadem replied to mich's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Howdy neighbor, all I can do is tell you is that you need to feel comfortable and supported to be the most successful. When I was pre-op I had a fun filled weekend and was pre TOM so when I went to surgeons to fill out my pre-op paper work I had gained weight! I thought for sure I would be denied, but I wasn’t. I knew I could lose those extra TOM pounds I was giving a second appointment, and at that time I did weigh in less. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> Being they have only done 350 bands at UMass and you are so close to so many great hospitals and programs you might want to considering at least checking out another program to see how you feel -
thats great to hear that you liked her Gina, June is fast approaching! did you get a date? what about you applebottom?

hey everyone just a reminder that the support mtg at the Faulkner is going to be on Monday! Even if it stinks we will still get to meet each other! (btw I skipped my last fill bc I was doing so well. Now this week I am STARVING!!! My next fill isnt for a few weeks but I am still skittish on moving too fast with the fills since I suffered with and overfill for a few weeks. Plus now I have develped occasional heartburn....great.) ~Mel

I used to be addicted to diet soda (3-4 a day), gave it up before surgery. Ive had sips 1-2x of fountain soda with a lot of ice with out a problem. Just recently however I drank about 4 oz of bottled soda and I was in pain for hours. Just beware.

awesome tips Laura MD I too printed them out. I do most of this but after 5 months post op I now realize I am leaning towards the softer food (maybe bc of an overfill experience). Not sure if I can get to the point of eating 3oz of Protein but I will make it my goal thanks!

any luck with BC/BS PPO of Rhode Island ?
nomadem replied to BrownieUNC's topic in Insurance & Financing
I know its not the same but I had BC/BC PPO out of MA. I called them first and they told me over the phone and then mailed me the section that said it was covered. I didnt want to get my hopes up until I knew for sure -
sometimes esp if its microwaved. If I do eat them I try to add moisture either with a sauce or water

Anyone Have A Natural Remedy for Heartburn?
nomadem replied to SherryW's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
sounds like we both have sensitive tummys. You know better than me that restriction can change on a daily basis. I too am eating more (junk!) but still want to wait for another fill, if I can help it I I dont ever want to be overly tight again glad you are feeling better :smile2: -
Anyone Have A Natural Remedy for Heartburn?
nomadem replied to SherryW's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Sherry I am so sorry to hear that the reflux is back. I dont have an answer but have heard some things about aloe vera juice. how much of a fill did you get? can you get a slight unfill? My last fill was ultra conservative at .24. Now I am afraid to get another. -
Anyone have Lap Band at Brigham & Womens in Boston MA?
nomadem replied to sueol's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
hello and welcome. I was banded 11/13/07 by Dr Vernon. there is a thread here with other patients. http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f42/brigham-women-faulker-hospital-56468/ -
Hi I am a patient of Dr Vernon. I think from pre-op to surg it was two months but from seminar to surgery was a total of 4 months. So that sounds about right. there are a few of us in this thread. Welcome! http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f42/brigham-women-faulker-hospital-56468/

baked chicken cooked too much could be part of the problem esp breast meat which is dry

hey its my birthday week too, I had a fill appt last friday at the Faulkner but forgo the fill bc Im not hungry and I lost a ton of weight in the past few weeks. That was mostly do to being too tight from my period (I think). Been feeling great for a few days now but today I ate some frozen green Beans at lunch. Its been 2 1/2 hrs of spitting, and they finally all past the band bc the pressure is gone.
-
I cant give you stats but I do know I was the first one in a large teaching hospital where they have 3 other surgeons and have been doing bands for years.
-
this is true, also calcium carbonate can cause consitpation for those who have an issue with this. It is also a main ingredient in some antacids, so read the label The citrate usually causes more as well. I find that Trader Joes is very affordable than most drug stores. ? dont gummies get stuck? my surgeon said for me NOT to take them

I had no pain or symptoms when they found my port was flipped at my first fill. Looking back I did notice that the port was somewhat free floating but I didnt know how it was suposed to feel bc I thought it was normal. had it repositioned while awake and was back to work within a couple of hours.

tigger you may be eating too big of a bite, too fast or too much if its solids. I only have 1.2 in my 10cc band and I can get that stuck feeling or even throw up as I was doing when I was tighter during my TOM
-
its not just the patients, the reason why I know this is bc I heard a staff member giggling when a newbie intern was struggling with the pronunciation and said "we just call him Dr T" :crying: still will be a pain for me to get to the other hospital but I think I could leave work early once. Anyone want to try for the next meeting in May??? See below for the dates of meetings at the Faulkner: ****************************************** Support meetings at Faulkner: 6 pm-2nd Monday of the month @ suite 4420 April 14, May 12, June 9, July 14, Aug 11, Sept 8, Oct 20 (3rd Mon),Nov 10, Dec 8
