fuel your body and you will see the weight loss.
-
even at your sweet spot restriction fluctuates. some days you will be tighter than others. and usually in the morning you are tighter than in the evening. its a learning process. everybody is different. you have to pay attention to your band and learn how it works. you will, it just takes time.

maybe it would be a good idea to ask your doctor to prescribe something like nexium for the reflux.
-
i was just as frightened to go under. but you are out for only a short while. anesthesia in the old days was given by the doctors who couldnt make it as anything else. that is why there were so many ill effects. today anesthesiologists are just as qualified as any other MD. your fears are wasted.

Pain and Sliming every meal
favorite replied to gemanda's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
you are supposed to do liquids after a fill. it is possible that you are swollen and when you pb that irritates it. otherwise you might need a slight unfill. but another thing is some foods dont agree with the band. i have trouble with both chicken and pasta. -
It feels like a cotton ball in my throat
favorite replied to BethL's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i actually do understand what you are saying. i have had that feeling but not continually for 2 weeks. its the feeling i get when food hasnt completely gone down but its not stuck to the point of where i'll slime or pb. but the feeling usually passes on its own or with a little help from some papaya enzyme chewable pills. they have them at walmart. -
too much splenda can give you unbelievable gas, and gas pains. i use equal.

insulin makes it harder to lose weight. its sort of a double edge sword. you need it for the diabetes but it helps you pack on the pounds. once you are banded mostly everyone that is type 2 diabetic goes off their insulin. you have no idea how much better you will feel. i can't encourage you enough to have the surgery. you will feel like a new person.

BAD fill - Is it possible?? -PLS HELP!
favorite replied to abcangirl's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
every time i have a fill my surgeon draws all the fluid out of my band to make sure the correct amount from the last visit is still in there. then she adds the fill amount that i am getting at that visit. you should ask whoever does your fills to draw out all the fluid thats in your band to make sure that it is still in there at every visit. they dont remove the needle in the procedure they just draw the fluid into the syringe and then put it back in. its no big deal at all and very common. as far as why type of liquid is in my band it is saline. -

Why would you do gastric bypass if you could lapband?
favorite replied to CBoeher's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
do your own research, it is a very personal choice. both procedures require dedication in order for the weight to stay off. they are both tools that make losing the weight easier but you still have to be dedicated to the diet. with the band there are a lot of slider foods that pass right through it, and unfortunately they are the foods that are bad for the diet that slide right down. i have a band but there is no way i would knock the bypass. whatever works, i'm for. -
What do we I now, seven months later 6 fills, nothing different than before ?
favorite replied to heyjudah@gmail.com's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
danbar, no restriction or slider foods are when the food you are eating goes right through the band into your stomach. and your stomach is as big as before. thats why you can eat as much or almost as much as before banding, when you have no restriction. when you get restriction or eat foods that are not slider foods thats when your pouch fills and slowly empties into your stomach. your pouch when you have restriction will fill with about a cup of food, give or take. -
you look fantastic. nobody would think that you had ever been heavy. what a great finish.

Sooo, if Medi-fast works so well
favorite replied to loganzmom's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i have done medifast and optifast. and if you stick to it you will succeed. but i always gained the weight back. if you are just starting the lap band process it will be at the very least 6 months before surgery. you could try the medifast while you are going through the 6 month diet. and if you have enough success then squash the operation. -
juli, i remember when i was growing up and size 12 being the size of the all american girl. you worked hard and now its your turn to shine. congratulations all american girl!!
-
glad you're on the mend. it was nice to see you post.
-
happy to hear everything went well for julie!! can't wait for updates.
-
you answered your own question. you ate too much. and maybe too fast. or maybe you swallowed a lot of air while eating. the band is a learning experience. different things bother different people. you have to pay attention to what bothers you and don't repeat it.
-
thanks so much for the update. congrats all around!

DH wants me to cancel surgery 2/3/09 HELP
favorite replied to heather1434's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i had 2 c sections also. they are miserable to heal from compared to the band. my girlfriend was getting a band after i did. i called her from the recovery room table to tell her not to worry that it was no worse than a trip to the dentist. and i really mean that. as long as you have a good surgeon with plenty of experience i would tell your husband not to worry. and go ahead with the surgery. my husband was also nervous. but it wasnt about him it was about me. i just could not stand all the discomforts of my obesity any longer. i mean doing anything was such a chore i just couldnt stay that way. -
How long after surgery did you wait to return to work/school?
favorite replied to NCsQueen's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
