Seminar - not so excited now
favorite replied to MargieM's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
you can eat the foods you like with the band. the beauty of it is you eat those things in moderation now. go to a different seminar and find a doc who supports your decision, so your journey can be a pleasant one. -
Full Fluids tomorrow..cream of mushroom/broc soup?
favorite replied to Hippiemama's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i was afraid too. but full liquids went down just fine. i did stick blend the cream of soups to be extra careful. -
Have you told people in OA/FAA about your band? feedback?
favorite replied to morningoasis811's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
i also have not been in either group. but i have told anyone and everyone who will listen to me that i got banded. why? because i am so proud of myself for being able to admit that i can not lose weight and keep it off on my own. i have accepted that fact and done something about it by seeking surgery. its not for everyone but it sure is for me. and i wouldn't criticize anyone for not choosing surgery but if they want to criticize me who cares. i know i did what was beneficial to my health and i'm exctatic about it. -
i think not chewing that flintstone got you irritated. probably should do fluids for a few days. but of course check with your doc.

i had 2 c-sections. you cant compare the lap band to it. lap band was a breeze next to them.

i vote for saying its a female related surgery you are having done. he'll clam right up and give you the time off. and you won't be lying. it's your female weight problem that you're having the surgery for.

Drink some stuff to clean you out
favorite replied to kristylyn's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i was told to drink the magnesium citrate through a straw so that it goes straight down your throat and you taste it less. and make it VERY cold. -
scrod, flounder and red snapper are all mild tasting.

i went to ww at age 10 and lost weight. as a matter of fact i was just about your daughters weight and lost 25 pounds. it made such a BIG difference. i went from this chubby girl to a girl who suddenly had a figure. we had an entire wall in the living room that was a mirror, i spent all my free time staring at myself in that mirror. i loved the new me. i became happier and more outgoing. so please take her. ww is not a diet its the way you are supposed to eat to be normal and healthy. so dont feel that you are putting her on a diet, youre teaching her the correct way to eat.

255 lbs to lose. Can it be done?
favorite replied to hopefulmom25's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
sure you can. its the people that have 20 pounds to lose that can't lose it. -
let him go, because if he truly loves you he'll be back. and loving you even more because you take care of your children and parents. i know that i admire you. nothing says more about a persons character than the way they treat the ones they love.

try metamucil. you can take it daily. buy it at the drug store or supermarket.
-
this is the best thing you can do for yourself. those who truly love you will support you in trying to help yourself.

that's really a bad break. i'm so sorry for you. but i have an idea. there is a guy on here that is not banded but he is losing weight by "piggy backing his wives band". maybe in these in between months you can try to eat the way you did when you had the band by pretending it is there.

i have no idea why you feel more restriction sometimes a week or two after a fill, but i mentioned it to my doctor and she said it was a common occurrance. but what really baffles me is sometimes i have really tight restriction one day where i can barely eat and then the next day i can almost eat like i did pre band. ahhh the mysterious band...

lap bander wants gastric bypass ins. pay?
favorite replied to brandyII's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
have you had any adjustments to your band? with the restriction that i have i couldn't imagine someones not working if its filled to the right point. what i'm trying to say is dont opt for the bypass without giving the band a fair chance. -
find a good doc and don't worry. sometimes you have to take risks, and this one is well worth taking. we were all scared to be banded. but we did it so that we could improve the quality of our lives.

i'm from ny also. i was banded on 10/15/07 at montefiore hosp in da bronx. good luck and try not to be nervous, because this is the best thing you could possibly do for yourself.

CONFESSIONS:who has cheated and ate junk food
favorite replied to NOlanebryant's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
i must confess that if i eat anything that is not totally healthy i feel like i have cheated. i have to get my head to realize that there are a variety of foods that are still acceptable in small quantities. i am just so used to either being 100% on a diet or 100% off a diet that i need to learn that i can have all foods in moderation. -

Help - Surgeon says I need Gastric
favorite replied to Hope4Joy's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
it seems to me that most surgeons recommend the bypass when you have more than 100 to lose. i went with the band, even so. rerouting my insides wasnt an option for me. -
i am type 2 diabetic and everyone in my support group including myself had no complications being banded. and we are all off our diabetes medication. for me that was 180 units of insulin daily. my endocrinologist told me the new york times recently had an article calling the lap band the cure for diabetes type 2.
