I am currently living in Moncks Corner SC. I have struggled with weight issues all of my life. I have considered bariatric surgery for some time now, in fact, last year I went thru the process and backed out before the surgery - I was self pay. I regretted that decision for some time and then moved on.
We recently relocated to SC this summer from FL. Last week I was looking at our insurance renewal for 2016 and saw that bariatric surgery was covered for 2016. I couldn't believe it. I called Blue Cross immediately to make sure my eyes weren't tricking me. During that call I was advised that bariatric surgery is covered under my current plan.
Armed with this information, I found the covered physicians and began my research. I found Dr. Mitchell in Charleston. I went to the information session on Thursday and had my 1st appointment yesterday after the appointment, I had all of my blood work completed. Everything is moving very fast. I started my liver Reduction diet today. I meet with the behavioral specialist and the nutritionist tomorrow and have my primary care surgical visit on Monday. I have my surgery scheduled for 12/15/15 - this is based on getting the pre-cert from my insurance company.
I found Bariatric Pal last year and found it to be very informative and the support from everyone was incredible.
I am so excited about this journey!
