    Calories? Carbs?

Ok fellow bandsters...I need help. I'm about 7 weeks post op and have had one fill. It has helped a lil but not enough so I'm going back in but...I have a question...What is everybody doing for their calorie and carb tracking? I hear everybody say low calorie low carb and my surgeon said the same thing. But to everyone low calorie low carb is different. I want to get an idea from those of us who have the band and are making it work. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!!!!
  3. I felt the same way. I remember about a week after asking my mom if she made sure they really put it in. lol I'm 7 weeks out and not feeling any different. I just got my first fill 2 days ago and I still feel pretty normal but do notice not so hungry or food obsessed. It will get better as you get your fills and drop weight

    I V infiltration... OUCH!

My IV had some issues to. They didn't put more fluid in it and when it ran out it started sucking my blood out and into the IV! My hand hurt for a couple weeks after my surgery though, I'm sure your fine, but you can always call your surgeon and check with them
  5. Sounds like your nurse is just rude and probably doesn't understand how hard it is to loose weight. My nurse said she was proud of me for only gaining 4 pounds between surgery and fill. They said it is very common for people to gain weight until they get their first fill. Don't worry about her attitude!!

    burping/belching

I have always been a burper as well. Since the surgery it is horrible!! and ridiculous it annoys me so much!! Dr. Jesse told me it happens to some people. Sometimes fills help or not. She suggested Gas-X or Beano. I tried gas-x helps, but not enough to where it stops annoying me!!

    my first fill- 6.5 CC'S

Very interesting to see how everybody's experiences are different. I had my first fill this morning and I got 5.6 cc's in a 10 cc band. It was a weird feeling but we shall see how the 'restriction' goes. My doc told me if I don't feel any restriction I can come back in 2 weeks for another fill. It has officially begun as of today....I feel the stress coming lol It will be ok...I want to get this weight off now! If I could get most off before my wedding that would be an added perk

How the heck to you sip without getting air in?

Ok...so I have a dumb question.....are we ever going to be able to drink through straws again? was that just a post surgery thing or a forever thing. I find I'm missing my straws...Stupid I know!! Also, I don't seem to have any issues drinking fast, is that because I haven't been filled yet?
  9. I was banded on 10/24. I started getting very hungry by week 2. My surgeon said this is normal. Once your stomach isn't swollen anymore from the surgery your stomach is basically the way it was pre-surgery. I've been just as hungry as I was before the surgery. She said its to be expected and to also expect to gain some weight once on the food sections. I'm on 'mushy' foods but have been able to eat some toast also. I had lost 12 pounds pre banding, lost 7 after surgery, and have now gained 2.4 back. So at a total loss of 16.6. I am having a hard time with the fact that I gained some back. She said its normal but it doesn't feel normal to me. This week I maintained. I am 2 1/2 weeks from fill and freaking out. :help:
