Heavens, I never thought I would have this problem! I am 13 weeks out from RNY. I started the preop at 249 and am now 197, but the scale hasn't moved in two weeks. I finally emailed my dietician and she looked at my food journal and I am not eating enough. I'm only getting 200 to 400 cals a day. i try hard to focus on Protein and Water, but my issue is that I am terrified of getting sick. I have not vomited since surgery at all. Once at three weeks out I ate some Soup too fast and was miserable for one night but that is it. I am also having a hard time fixing food that I know I will only eat a few bites of. I am single, live alone so I don't have to cook for anyone else. I started yesterday with some Lean Cuisine and Weight Watchers dinners. I figure that is better than nothing. I managed to get in 541 cals today with 42 grams of protein. If anyone has some words of wisdom or suggestions on simple easy things to eat, I'd appreciate it. I wouldn't mind making stuff on weekends that I can just reheat all week. Oh and let's talk Breakfast. I like my Dannon Light and Fit (tried Greek -ugh), but truthfully, it doesn't fill me up anymore. I take half a cup. I see some people eat oatmeal. Now I used to use the flavored instant oatmeals - I am guessing they are out? Low calorie instant? other ideas for breakfast? Thanks!

How open are you with your employer re:surgery plans?
Katherine Durkee replied to MaureenVA's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
I told my boss as soon as I made the decision to pursue the surgery. I asked her to keep it confidential, did tell her she could tell the dept head if she felt she needed to. Gave me some time to get my head around the idea. by the time surgery actually happened I had told pretty much everyone in my life. Here is the best part. Everyone and I mean every single person I know has been 100% supportive and a big help to me in my journey. I don 't know what I'd do without my family and friends. Oh, I took one week as vacation and then worked from home for two weeks and went back after three weeks. I was tired, but otherwise fine. -
Anyone else 5'0" and 205?

I am 5 foot and started at 249. I'm nine weeks out from RNY and I am down to 200. Drs. goal is 150, mine is 130. I actually would be much taller if my spine were not curved. I have severe scoliosis; I was once 5.6"! -
Chicken Noodle Soup
Katherine Durkee replied to esskay77's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I made some just yesterday for my dear nephew who has Ebola (it's really a cold, but he insists it is Ebola). I used some potato instead of noodles. And I cut up the carrots and celery really small. I gave most of it to my sister, but I did have a small bowl and it was pretty tasty, even without the noodles. My nephew says it helped cure him. Maybe I should send some to Africa? -

Two weeks today for me too. I am down 18 lbs. Feeling good. Going back to work next week. However, may Ijust say that there are way too many commercials containing food on tv? -
Starbucks anyone?

I was on the unjury website last night looking at their recipes. Saw one for a pumpkin Spice Latte. I dearly love those things every fall. Can;t wait till I get to a point where I can try that. A bonus is that I will be getting Protein. -
Recovery..... do you really need someone the first few weeks?
Katherine Durkee replied to bluedreams86's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had laproscopic bypass on 8/19. My family did not stay with me (I live alone) but they check on me frequently. I was just fine by myself. I would just have a list of things I needed that I couldn't do myself and when someone came by they would take care of it. Laproscopic is such a dream compared to open surgery. If it weren't for the new diet, this would be a breeze to recover from. I plan on working from home one more week and then going back to work full time (office work). -
My bypass is tomorrow. I am nervous just cause it's surgery and this is the first time I'll be facing surgery without my Mom. I;m 57 and being a big baby!! But I am also worried that it might have to be an open operation vs laproscopic. Surgeon of course says not to worry. But they said that when I got my tubes tied, when I had my gallbladder out and when I had a hyster. All said it would be laproscopic and it wasn't. Anyone had open surgery? Is it awful??
