my teenage daughter is sick of me

I'm thinking our children's opinion about the surgery will differ from child to child. I'm a single mom of a 13-year old young man and he couldn't wait for me to get my Lapband. As young as he Is he understands I'm doing this for my life and he wants his mom around as long as possible. He supports my every effort. He even changed his eating habit to be more in line with mine (temporarily -- with the promise that his food arsenal will return after I've healed) basically he's not asking for me to cook fried chicken, Mac and cheese, apple pies, you get the pic. He's choosing healthier foods (though I can't be sure how much longer this is going to last). I think maybe the more our spawns understand its life or death they'll eventually come aboard.

    Selfies

You guys and your selfies are amazing. I'll be so glad when I'm brave enough to post before/after pics of myself (just 10 days banded). I enjoy reading all your posts. They are extremely helpful to me as I begin my weight-loss journey.

    Appetite: Dead On Arrival

Oops! I pushed send by accident while editing my post. To finish: Could it be that I'm simply bored with the food choices I'm restricted to eat while healing. Will my appetite return? Is anyone experiencing the same or has anyone had a complete loss of appetite after your surgery? How long did it last?? Please help. It's driving me crazy! Although I'm lovng the weight-loss!!

    Appetite: Dead On Arrival

I'm new here and banded just 10 days ago and I'm now wondering where in the heck did my APPETITE go? I mean I don't want ANYTHING. I'm currently on full liquid diet and I understand the Protein shakes, creamy Soups, sugar-free Jello and puddings are there for me to heal properly but I don't even want THAT! I literally have to force myself to eat (a feat that's way too weird for me to comprehend given my life-long love affair with FOOD). Nothing appeals to me anymore. I've totally lost the taste for my Protein Shakes. Is this a phase?could it be simply I'm votes with the foods I've been restricted to eat at Gia time while healing it is this a new phenomenon with me. I'll gladly welcome it -- anything to lose this weight.
  5. For the record...I'm now 8 days out and not a peep. I can, however, feel the band (I think) when I lay on my side in bed. I would definitely check with the physician.

    SAGGY ASS

Excellent!! No Apologies necessary! (Too Funny!!!! )
  7. Wow... are you sure? My surgery was 3 days ago and I need to know about this in advance. I don't want to be freaked out. I'm anxious to hear if anyone else has experienced the same.

1st Week Post Op Diet Dilemma

That's interesting.... I thought it was too soon for that but if it works and if I can tolerate then... maybe its worth a try. Thanks!
  11. So... 3 days after surgery and I'm now off the "totally" clear liquid diet. Finally back to full liquid diet 'thank goodness!' But I'm getting tired of cream of chicken/celery/mushroom/shrimp from Campbells. I'm wondering if I can use my wonderful Vitamix and make my own cream soups. Does anyone know if its against the rules to eat cream of broccoli or some other vegetable as long as i make it the consistency of a creamy soup? Can I not puree chicken but incorporate it with other veggies or potatoes and make my own low-fat/low-sodium cream soup? Are there any other soup recipes out there for me? Maybe other flavor creamy soupsby another company? Any advise would be appreciated.

    Day 2 post op

Hey there comrade... I'm with you -- I am a day 3 post op and I too have experienced the difficulty in deep breathing -- so much so that last night I went to the emergency room fearing something much worse. After a battery of tests (that came out clean) it was determined that the chest was just very sore and I need to do more deep breathing to keep it pliable. I discovered this after being given a strong pain medication how fast the chest pains quickly subsided and deep breathing was easier. I've decided to walk as much as possible to help this situation. Also, the previous post is wise one indeed. A little prune juice goes a long way. Glad I'm not alone here!
