How blessed you are to be able to have your sister go on this journey with you. The reason I have the band is because I know 3 sisters that had it done, two of them on the same day. They all have done great with weight starting in in 270 to 280 range. It's been 2 yrs for one and she's in size 8 now weighing in at 135, yes she lost half her body weight from when she started. The other 2 are in size 10's and 12's now with having surgery 16 months. All three tell me that it was wonderful going thru this with their sisters.. You are so blessed to be able to do this. About the food, don't worry, it's almost like you banded your brain, the first couple of days are rough but after that it's okay. GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!!11

A good friend of mine tried these pills. Alot of the BDT's are due to the amount of fat you eat and if it goes in our mouth there's fat in it. My friend lost weight, mostly from running to the bathroom. Gained weight back and more when she stopped taking them, also experienced dry skin and hair from them pulling fat from her body. I asked her if she would recommend them to anybody, her remark was "only if they want to buy new clothes from the waist down and look like death warmed over".

I had surgery on 8/29/07 and just recently started getting dizzy. My Dr.'s office said it was a sign of not getting enough liquid and or protein. In my case it was the protein, I wasn't getting in the 60 grams per day. Went on whey protein shakes and the dizzy speeds stopped.

I think you've made your mind up to have it removed. It sounds like you've had a bad experience all the way around, usually that's not the case. Alot of us have small issues but not enough to have it removed. The $5,000 to have it removed is a small price for piece of mind and health. You tried it and it didn't work for you, thank goodness it works and is a blessing for the masses who follow the rules of eating properly and doing what it takes on a day to day basic to be successful. The band is only a tool that can help us lose weight, not a magic cure. It's not something that we are suppose to get unfilled just because we want to eat again. I've read all the replies to your post, some great and helpful replies, yet you come back so negative on your replies. Get the band removed and be done with it.

Strange Dr. won't tell you amount of cc's. I've never heard that before. How often will they let you go back for a fill. My Dr. makes you wait for at least 3 weeks.

If you have the AP lapband please respond
bmysuccess replied to melissatx's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have the AP small, had 4 cc's put in during surgery, 2 cc's added 6 wks later then 1.6 put in 3 weeks later for total of 7.6 cc's. I have trouble getting 1/2 cup down before I start having it come back up. Going to have .5 cc's removed tommorrow. -
Don't get a scale, it will become your worst enemy. Just follow the program and the weight will come off.

How much do you have in now, I have a 10 cc band and my fills are up to 7.6 cc's. I can hardly eat anyting i'm so tight. It's been 2 weeks since last fill and have not got any loser.

Most surgeons I've checked on require you to pay up front. At one time I thought I would end up being self pay before insurance agreed. All I checked with wanted all money up front, hospital, surgeons and everyone else. -
Needle Phobia and Fills
bmysuccess replied to Sdaviscs's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Tell the Dr. or nurse which ever does the fills that you are scared. I felt the same as you to the point I thought I was going to pass out the first time. The nurse said they have several people like that. She was very good, placed a cloth over my face so I couldn't see the needle, sat me up with the needle in me and I didn't feel a thing. I felt sort of stupid over feeling this way but couldn't help it. Second fill was no issue, just the first one. -
I love chips, chips and more chips, any kind of chips. I try to never be by myself because if I am I will find chips and won't quit until the bags empty.

How the Lap-Band actually works, fills and refills

Had 4 cc's put in during surgery in a 10 cc's band. surgery 8/29/07 -
Carol, how much water are you taking in a day. I have a hypothroid, take .275 of synthroid daily. I was getting hungry about 1 1/2 to 2 hours after eating, was doing what I was suppose to do. My dr. told me to up my water intake to 80 ozs a day and that fixed my issue. I was just needing water not food.

Find a rocking chair and rock as hard as you can, it will help the gas move. This is the only thing I could get to work for me. -
Less complications, faster recovery was my reason. I have 2 nieces with the RNY and I didn't want to deal with what they have to.

Dilemma/confusion would love your help

A bagel, no way. You may never be able to eat a bagel again. I do good to get a protein shake or egg cooked medium down, thats after drinking when I first get up to take care of being so dry in the morning. -
Banded on the 15th..and I'm in SO much PAIN
bmysuccess replied to NP1978's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I didn't have hardly any pain day of surgery or after. I did have the left shoulder pain from gas but I did alot of rocking to make it move. During surgery alot of pain comes from what organs have to be moved and how gentle they are on moving them. -
PAIN AFTER FILLS... Anyone else?
bmysuccess replied to bunnykin4u's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I think you really need to be checked out by a good Dr. Based on my experience and others your having too much pain. I have 7.6 cc's, banded 8/28/07 and had 2 fills with no pain. By your details please see a doctor. -
I think it has more to do with the emotional side of the surgery. Reports say that most people who are not emotionally preparded for the surgery will do one of two things. Turn to alcohol or to over eat to ruin their success. I'm not a drinker, but after surgery I have realizrd I did have a eating disorder. It's not easy, it's a work in progress that I battle minute by minute On Discovery TV last Saturday this very thing was discussed. It was agreed by all Dr. that if a person drink over 1 to 2 drinks a day they would not do the surgery. Reason being there was something else going on emotionally, that needed to be fixed before the surgery.

Appeal, Appeal, and call them everyday. Don't give up on this, have every Dr. you've got get involved. -
I have pain same place as you, it started day after surgery. My Dr. said it was from a nerve being cut during surgery and pain will finally go away. it's eight weeks since my surgery and still here. I got on another message board and asked about it. Got lot's of replies on it, some had it leave after 3 or 4 months some it took almost a year. Hope this helps.

Don't know about your insurance, but Dr. Spaw is my Dr., banded 8/29/07. After going to several seminars with other Dr. I chose him and glad I did.
