    Gastric Plication - Results

I had plication surgery 9-14 and have not looked back! I absolutely would recommend it to anyone who is thinking about it. I've lost 65 pounds and have 5 more to make goal. I'm also 63 years old and suffer from Rheumatoid Arthritis. I recently had a total right hip replacement and sailed thru the surgery as a result of the weight loss. I'm dancing again and loving my life! Don't wait! You will not regret this!

    Pre-Op Diet ?

Hi. I had plication surgery on 9-2-14 in Mexico. LOVE IT! I've lost 60#s so far with 15 more to go. I'm not obsessive about loosing it all at once as my reason to have the surgery was more for health issues. I'm 63 and just 3 weeks ago I had a total right hip replacement. My surgery was so much easier due to the weight loss! There is a pre-op diet that I followed. It was 2 weeks of Protein shakes and one light meal.....then a few days before it is all liquid to allow your stomach to be empty before surgery. I'm not sure who is doing your surgery but they will have info to share with you. Good luck????
  3. No discomfort at all. The follow up diet is very easy to follow. I do get full faster. I followed the diet plan as they advised. I have a friend who also had the same surgery and she is doing awesome. A couple of times she over ate and trust me, she won't do that again. You will do great. Follow all of their directions and you will do fine!
  4. I went to Dr Ortiz for myplication surgery. Best decision we have made! I've lost 60#s and have not looked back!
  5. I had a similar situation but always safer to ask your doctor. I finally started taking some Miralax in the mornings which made a tremendous difference for me. I've always had bowel issues so this is helping!
  6. I am one month from having my plication surgery. I am currently working on my core during my physical therapy to gain strength back from inactivity. At 2 months post surgery I will work on isolating and doing ab exercises, crunches, etc. hopefully things will go well!

    What would you change?

Hi gang! Well.....I had my plication surgery on 9-2-14 and I'm doing great! I'm taking it one day at a time, taking all the meds, protein shakes, and bariatric vitamins. I'm not yet able to start a walking program, I'm suffering with IT Band Syndrome, and trying to get into a doctor here to get a cortisone injection form my hip. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I can do to make sure I have weight loss even though I can't exercise?

    What would you change?

Hi. I'm new to this. Having my plication surgery on 9-2-2014. My BMI is under 50 so I'm going to let DR Ortiz make the call as to whether the sleeve or plication surgery is best for me. I have some pre-existing medical conditions that might preclude me from one or the other, but I know if I don't do something the remaining lifespan will be diminished if not down right short! Lol. I really appreciate everyone's thoughts and opinions as they are all helping me get my game face on!
