  1. I am having the Gastric Sleeve on Dec. 30th!! Excited, but nervous too!!! Veteran sleevers - How did you cope with the surgery pre-jitters feelings??? Any advice?? I also celebrate Christmas, and my parents and extended family live in NY. I live in MA with my boyfriend of almost 8 years, who is very supportive of me and my decision, but we are going down to MY parents for Christmas on 12/23, then leaving on 12/26, and heading to HIS parent's house the next day,12/27, since their celebration is never on Christmas day, usually one or two days after!!! I have 1 day at home, then I leave for Boston on 12/29!!! Has anyone else had surgery around the holidays before?? If so, how did you deal with that?? I will be toasting the New Year at Boston Medical Center with my 1 fl. oz. medicine cup of water, lol!!! Any advice or personal experiences anyone can offer would be greatly appreciated!!! I come from a big, Italian family that likes their food, and John's mom is a really good cook!!! HELP, please!!!

    Breast Rash

I have had a rash on my breast on-and-off for awhile now, even before surgery. I saw another post that said something about it being from yeast - but I don't understand how that works. I thought a yeast infection affected the vaginal area. Is that what the breast rash is from, a yeast infection?? In terms of the breast rash, I thought it was just dry skin. I have a post-op appointment tomorrow, should I show the doctor?? I have gotten them several times!!! Help - sometimes it itches pretty badly!!!
  3. Just had my 6 month checkup with my surgeon, Dr. Hess, and he's very pleased with my progress!!! 47 pounds lost since surgery, and 78 pounds lost all together!!! :-D

Congratulations!!! Great feeling, isn't it?? I'm about to join you in that new size 18 because my current slacks are too big in the hips and tummy and others are noticing it :) (even if the scale isn't budging).

    Easter 2015.jpg

    From the album: Christina T.

This picture was at Easter, taken on April 5, 2015. I was about 4 months out from surgery, which was on December 30, 2014, and weigh about 210 pounds in this picture!!! I lost about 82.6 pounds, and a few more since!!! I never thought I'd see the day when I lost that much weight. VSG really gave me back my life, and I'm so grateful to have done it!!! :-)

      Good job! You're doing great.

  10. Hi All - I am a petite clothing size, since I'm 5' 4", and I'm at that weird in-between-sizes stage, between sizes 2X and 3X, depending on the style and fit of the clothing in question. However, the "average" sizes always wind up being WAY too long on me, so it's hard to get clothes!!! What's a girl to do??! Any advice?? Thank You, Christina
  11. Hi, my name is Christina! I am 5 days post-op, and had the Gastric Sleeve surgery done at Boston Medical Center on Dec. 30, 2014. My doctor was Dr. Donald Hess, a wonderful guy!!! Just starting out on my journey, and would like a veteran surgery buddy/mentor to help guide me along my way, answer my questions, and generally give me some support and encouragement. I am quite friendly, and very motivated to use this amazing tool I have been given to become a healthier me!!! ???? We can communicate on here only, if that's how you're most comfortable, or I wouldn't mind exchanging e-mail addresses and/or phone numbers as we get to know each other. I would sure appreciate the support, and hope someone is kind enough to take me under her wing!!! Thank you!!! ????

    Any December 30th Sleevers ?!

Well, the anticipation is building, and the day I have been working towards for about a year now is almost here!!! Have to be at the hospital at 8:30 tomorrow morning!!! Feeling excited, and a bit nervous, but mostly just want to get through the surgery, and ring in the New Year with a new, healthier body!!! Leaving for the hotel in Boston now, across from the hospital. Here I go, off on a new adventure in my life!!! Good luck to everyone else!!! We got this!!! ???? ???? ????

    Any December 30th Sleevers ?!

Dec. 30th sleever here, too!!! How is everyone else feeling?? For me, I'm excited and a bit nervous, but mostly just anxious for the surgery part to be over with, so I can start the recovery part, and of course to see what life is like on the other side of the sleeve!!! I am overly emotional too, but that's because my depression & anxiety are kicking into high gear!!! I need a surgery buddy too!!! Any takers??
  17. Hi, I am getting sleeved on Dec. 30th!!! I can't believe it's SO close!! ???? I am a bit nervous, but mainly anxious to get the "easy part" over with, so to speak - the actual surgery!!! I have major depression, and I think between recent med. changes and anxiety issues, it has been doing a number on my emotions!!! I seem to be crying at the drop of a hat lately ????, and I have 1 more day of work on Sun. I'm not fond of my job to begin with, so I'm fortunate to have family support during my 6-week Medical L.O.A. from work. I think once I am officially on leave on Mon., and actually get to the hotel in Boston across from the hospital, Boston Medical Center, I will be a bit calmer, believe it or not. I will be focused on what I have to do on Tues., and having a focus and organization keeps me calm. Am I alone there? Any advice to keep the crying in check?? I literally cry at least every other day, except over Christmas. I have a wonderfully supportive family, including amazing parents who are coming up, and an incredible fiance who will be there as well, and already more than spoils me at home, so being with my family helped. But now that I'm on the way home to MA from my parent's house in NY, I'm an emotional mess again!!! What gives??! ???? Advice, please!!! ❓ ????

    Dec 29th sleevers ?

I am scheduled for Dec. 30th!!! I don't have a "pre-op" diet for the week before, but I am still replacing at least 1 meal a day with a Protein shake, and the day before I will have only Clear liquids starting in the late afternoon, and nothing to eat or drink after midnight. The pre-op diets sure do seem to vary. Getting excited, but nervous too!!! + Anyone else feeling that way?? I'm looking forward to it, but more to actually having the operation part over with, so I can begin my recovery and life on the other side of the sleeve!!!
  19. My surgery is on Dec 30th!!! It's almost here, and the days seem to be flying by!!! I will be toasting the New Year with my 1 fl. oz. medicine cup of Water in the hospital, lol!!! ???? ???? ???? I am excited, but nervous too. I think it's natural, as it would be before any type of major surgery. The most nerve racking thing for me is my fear of the unknown. I have always feared change, especially any big changes in my life, and this will by far be the biggest one yet. However, I am in therapy, and it helps to work on new coping skills other than eating, which up until I entered into the weight loss surgery program at Boston Medical Center almost a year ago, had been my go-to coping mechanism for any type of stress, depression or anxiety I was feeling. I have major depression and generalized anxiety disorder, so it's been tough going, but I am trying harder and improving every day. It's a process for me, and will probably never stop being one. But since I first started this weight loss surgery journey on Dec. 13, 2013, up until my pre-op appointment on Dec. 11, 2014, literally almost a year ago, I have really tried to change my way of thinking and behavior in terms of eating, and I'm proud to say it worked. I have lost 46 pounds on my own, so I'm starting to become more confident that I can handle life after surgery. ☺ ???? I would definitely appreciate LOTS of support and encouragement on this forum though, since I'm sure not every day is smooth sailing!!! Any advice or personal experiences people would share regarding their hospital stay, the day of discharge from the hospital and the first week or two at home would sure be helpful right now!!! It's coming up so fast!!! ???? ????
