    3 weeks post op.

I'm still holding out on the fill until I get a better feel for things. I can take down soups, burritos, and meat well but pudding, yogurt, fruit gives me trouble. I'm still losing weight so I'm not going to rush things
  2. Too many judgmental people at my job. So it'll be a secret. I'm also afraid that if word gets out I may be passed over for any fire details thinking that the band may hinder my performance.

    November banders - first fill?

    doubts?

I hear ya! It was interesting eating from a small plate at a thanksgiving feast. My 2 small plates for lunch and dinner was less food than anyone's first plate at lunch LOL Felt oh so weird
  5. About 8 days and i was able to sleep in any position. I guess I was lucky.

    2 days until liquid diet

Don't look at the short term "prize" that is in front of you. Keep your eyes locked at the reward at the end of the journey
  7. Sounds like gas may be giving you fits. It may be a few days on the bowels. I didn't have anything happen until day 6. It will get better
  8. Same here and mine are healing up nicely

    Thanksgiving for November 2014 banders

I will be cooking all of it and will purée what I can haha However I doubt I'll be able to resist turkey. I'll have to at least try one piece.

    2 days until liquid diet

It was easier for me when I would say to myself "I'm not just doing this for myself but I'm doing this for my surgeon" when temptation would try to creep in. After my surgery the first question I asked the doctor was if my liver had shrunk enough and he smiled and said it was perfect. That really made me feel good.

    Delaying fill or no fill

I am in the same boat but as soon as I'd be getting a fill I would be leaving the state for about a month...... So I'm scared to get my first fill and run in case it causes issues. Given my recovery has been more on the rough side I figured I'll wait till I get back from my holiday travels.

    Post op issues

Its been a pretty rough ride but I will give a quick rundown on the turn of events.(note that I am feeling much better now) Days 1 - 5: I was unable to take down more than 8 oz of fluids per day. Had to even be put on a feeding tube to try to force some down. I was extremely tight(inflamed). During this time whatever I consumed would come out in my sleep. Another issue I had was hypersalivation which prevented me from sleeping at all and extreme dehydration. Day 6: At this point band rejection had me very scared but all of the sudden in the mid after noon of day 6 it felt like a bathtub cork was pulled in my stomach and all of my fluids drained into the intestines. So what I am thinking is the anesthesia still partly had my stomach shut down where it would not pump the contents of my stomach into my intestines. Magically my stomach started working with fluids and my inflammation around the band started going down dramatically. A few hours later my stomach started to get really tight as I was heading to town. Again I started thinking "great now it'll quit working" but after I made it over the mountain pass 8,600ft or so the tension eased. Interesting thing is when this happened I was starving! So I had my first bit of solid food(jello). Since that point I've been working broth and yogurt. I've had my ups and downs but I feel 100 times better than I did the first few days. The only issue I've really had sense was I am having issues with night coughing. Overall its been a 1 day at a time recovery. I've lost more weight than I wanted to just short of time out of post op but I'll live.
  13. So I had surgery yesterday and was able to handle crushed ice and liquid. Today I am unable to hold liquids no more than 2 sips in a 45 min period or else I'll puke. I've tried gatorade broth and Water with very little luck. If I try taking meds then that kills me as well. I've thrown up several times today. Anyone else have these struggles at post op?

    Approved ????

Dimples that sounds closer to my experience and I got a lot better 7 days out. Have you thought about going back to a liquid diet? That may help

After a rough night and sketchy morning I was finally able to take fluid without a tube. No sips though. GulpeS or else I will toss them up.

    November Banders

My banding is Wednesday and it looks like snowy weather is floating around. Thank god I only have a 4 hour commute to the dr and cross 8800 feet once : (
  24. Dr Cost $1,157 Hospital(after Insurance) $2,246 Anesthesia(not sure they really didn't want to answer any questions) $1280 1st hour, $450 ever hour after I had seen a few people with GEHA who had only paid $2000-$2500 so to be figuring these costs is kinda catching me off guard.
