    Cold colder freezing. .

Layers, layers and more layers. :-). I notice that I get really cold when I need to eat, it acts as a good reminder!

    Alcohol

I had a few glasses at about the 8 week stage. No problems with it, but it just doesn't taste like it used to. Even the smoothest wines taste acidic and chemical to me now. Reds are probably the worst. Anyone else find that?

    Why Am I So Cold?

I'm 13 weeks post surgery and I'm now always cold. It's frustrating - I'm slimmer and want to wear skimpier clothes, but end up wearing multiple layers to keep warm! Not complaining though, I'd rather be slim and cold :-)
  4. I had a BMI of 32 when I had my surgery 13 weeks ago. I'm now down 35lbs and losing around a pound a week. I'm struggling to exercise, my energy levels are still zero, but on the weeks I do manage it I lose a little more. The gnawing hunger I felt each and every day has gone, and I feel as if I have my life back. I do still struggle to eat enough in social situations to avoid questions, especially with the family. My work colleagues are used to me being on one diet or another so just accept it! Only my partner and four close friends know what I've had done.
  5. I had a burning sensation too for a couple of weeks after surgery. My surgeon said that it was a normal part of the healing process and it soon passed. You should check with your doctor though xx

    Post cuts off

I'm having the same issue with the app on my iPhone and iPad. :-(

Here we go....Surgery in 2 days.

Best of luck! The first few weeks are tough, but the results are worth it - focus on your dreams! X
  8. I eat out with colleagues quite a lot, and try not to make a big deal of it, but it's so hard. I always try to order a starter or some sort of small salad but usually have to explain to the waiter that there was nothing wrong with it when I can't finish! It's interesting that most of you say that your NUTs tell you to stay off carbs. My dietician ( I'm in the UK) tells me to eat more carbs. He says I should have a third Protein, third carbs and third veggies. I do struggle with bread, but toast seems ok.

    How did you tell people?

Everyone thinks I had a hernia repair, only my partner and 4 closest friends know the truth. I did actually have the repair along with the sleeve, so it's only a half fib! The hardest part is eating out with work colleagues, I'm sure that some of them suspect that I've had something done. Still the best decision I ever made though.
  10. I explained that I was eating purees because my stomach was 'messed about' by the hernia repair. Not really a lie, as my hernia was severe and a third of my stomach was in my chest cavity. Eugh. It is getting harder now though I'm trying to convince everyone that I'm recovered yet still eating mush. I'm just shrugging it off for now.
  11. I got hiccups on day 4. I literally cried like a baby. Made the hiccups worse and the sobbing hurt nearly as much! Luckily, I didn't sneeze until about day 8 and it was ok by then, but I feel your pain! x
  12. I only told my partner and two of my closest friends about my op. I didn't tell my work what I was having done, just referred to a 'minor op' and was vague. Now that it's done, I've told everyone that it was a hiatal hernia repair. It's not a complete lie, as I did end up having quite a major one as part of my surgery. Symptoms all fit, including the dodgy eating - a full third of my stomach was in my chest cavity so it's expected that I'd struggle to eat properly for awhile. Plus, if you ever need one in future, it could happen twice. It would be really embarrassing to have your gall bladder or appendix out again!!! Good luck with everything x

August 28, 2014 sleeve is done.

I was sleeved on Thursday too. I had lots of trouble passing Water initially after the surgery, but there's no stopping me now. Not feeling at all hungry, just trying to get my liquid diet in because I really don't want to lose any hair! All in all though, I'm not in a lot of pain, just my main incision and the gas pain which is much better than it was. Still feeling very nauseous, but surgeon says that is mostly to do with the hernia repair he had to do at the same time.

    Last minute advice?

Oh, and best of luck with your surgery JCP xx

    Last minute advice?

Thank you all for your replies. So I'm sleeved! Not feeling too bad considering. The surgeon discovered that I had a massive hiatus hernia which he also had to fix so I got 2 surgeries for the price of one! He said that my recovery may be slower because of it, but 24 hours later I'm doing ok. So, now the hard work really starts xx
