Thank you very much for the info and advice Kindle. It is good to know that you used the recumbent bike because that is what I am using pre-op. I try to do between 40-50 mintues 6 times a week. You are such a good inspiration and you look great. Thanks again.

Forced to be put on birth control after surgery?

Do you tell people?
motherof5 replied to amandall27's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
MY husband, children, fav cousin, fav auntie, brother and mother know. I didn't tell anyone else because I didn't want to hear any negative about the WLS. My mom is totally against it and at first I was not going to tell her that I was finally going to do it. I was going to wait until afterwards and she can see the results from my decision. But my hubby advised me to tell her and she was in opposition of it straight out. I am 39 years old and my mother out right said, "You are not getting the surgery." I just had to laugh a little because I was surprised at how she said it. Well, while I was visiting her a few weeks back, I did not mention it anymore. Guess what mother, I am getting the surgery. Some people put it on social media but for me this is a personally matter and I prefer to tell only close and sincere relatives at this time. Some people are just down right noisy and just want to talk and others just want to get some info for themselves. Of course, the choice is yours. -
does anyone else feel that nothing else matters?
motherof5 replied to jessiquoi's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh yes, I can definitely relate to you. I was so obsessed with before and after pics a few months back. My hubby would always comment on how much I was on the WLS forums, so I stopped for a while. I always think about my surgery. I cannot tell you how many times I sat down and looked over my WLS notebook, lol. I want to make sure that I understand what to do after my surgery. constantly looking at the nutritional info on my Protein powders, its crazy over here. So that I will not get on my hubby's nerves, I stopped with the WLS talk. But now that my surgery is near, my hubby talks about it. Even my 4 year old asks me is it time for me to get the FAT CUT OFF, lol. Now, where did he get that from, lol. Yes, I can relate. You are not alone, lol. And I am revved up and ready to go! Who's with me? -
August 26 Sleevers
motherof5 replied to Sandi in FL's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Only 11 days left, huh? Weird how I seem to have everything together but the foods I need when I come home. I will definitely have my Protein powder and my surgeon said that they will give me a prescription for prenatals and PPI. I have been concentrating on this pre-op diet and planning my meals. I am sure everything will fall into place. Oh, I also have to start schooling on the 19th, lol. -
Congrats! So, we are looking at September for you hopefully.

my biggest fear is hunger
motherof5 replied to LainieG's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello. This is a common fear. I asked my MIL yesterday if she get hungry. She had the RNY in 2011. She said that she does get hungry but it is not like pre-surgery. It could be lunchtime before she will get that way. She said if that is the case, she would treat it as Breakfast time. A lot of times she will have to remind herself to eat.She can only have around 1/2 cup depending on what it is. I hope this helps. -

Pre op Weight gain during 6mo for approval
motherof5 replied to dommie20's topic in Insurance & Financing
Hello. Maybe you should take a look at your food intake. Are you exercising? I started off by leaving off the carbs. Things like rice, Pasta, flour, and processed foods. Also, leaving off the empty calorie stuff like soda and juices.BC could be the problem but first just take a look at what you are doing. I hope this helps. I am not a doctor but I would like to play one on T.V. -

Girl, I am glad I was not there. That would have been torture for me as well. Did you have some ripe plantains with that? I do all the cooking over here for my family and it is easier now. I still have to make sure that I do not graze though, lol. -

August Sleevers Check In
motherof5 replied to Sweet Pea STL Sleever's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am behind on checking in. Congrats to the folks that are sleeved for the month of August. For those that are approcahing their time, keep up the good work with the pre-op. Our day is coming soon and then we can be on the loser's bench. I am day 4 of my liver shrink diet. It is definitely easier today. The one thing that I was slacking on was the water intake. This is why I was so darn hungry on Monday and Tuesday, lol. I make sure that I drink when I am not eating and it helps with staying full. I also notice that I go to the potty(can you tell I have little ones?) more often then before. I assume beause there's not food in my tummy. I am eating my salad and breadless burger as we speak. This will be my only real meal for the day. I will probably do a spinach soup and protein shake around 2 or 3.Oh, and I also do my recumbent bike 6 days a week. I hope that everyone is doing well. -
2 month stall - I gotta do better!
motherof5 replied to Rena's got this's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
This is a fear for me. Those cravings are worse for me when I have PMS. It seems the older I get, the worse it gets. I usually snap out of it after a few days and go back to my healthy eating. I am due for surgery on August 26th and I cannot wait. At least I can have sugar free pudding and pops as a snack. I think that will help me with my sweet tooth, I hope. At least you know what the problem is. Let the cravings go and go back to the basics. You will see the scale move then. -

Calling all August Sleevers!
motherof5 replied to Tracis weight loss journey's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Jz0917 thx for the broth suggestions. I have to go to the store today and will definitely try to pick up a few of those. I can have some veggies so that would be good in one of these broths. Sandy in Fl, three weeks of pre-op? Wow! I am on day three and I feel like I am starving like Marvin, lol. It has been a rough two days so far. On top of that, I am a grazer. A BAD habit that I need to kick. I have seen a lot of sleevers go to Tijuana for the surgery and they were very successful. Here's to August 26th! -
My surgeon did inform me that I will not be able to take my mini pill for like a month after the surgery. WHAT! Not trying to get preggers just yet doc, lol. But I am definitely looking for an alternative too.

I agree with everyone. My NUT suggest that the sugars should be below 5 grams. I was drinking my mother's shakes called Premier Protein; sugar 1g, carbs 5g, Protein is 30! and the calories are 160. You also have the Atkin's shakes: calories 160, sugars 1g, carbs 6 and the protein is 15. I tried both of these shakes and I really like them. Pure Protein is good as well. I hope this helps.

August 26 Sleevers
motherof5 replied to Sandi in FL's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey guys! day two of the liver shrink diet. Yesterday, I was thinking that I was starving to death. lol. I mean, I can eat food but mostly veggies and I still have to be carfeul. I did make me some delicious spinach and onion soup. I also decided to eat an apple instead of adding 3 strawberries to my smoothie. I need food! How is everyone else doing? OH! Hi Kerri! Welcome to the group! -
It totally takes committment Jamie. It is hard to cook for a family of 7 and not be able to eat what they eat. But I decided a while ago that it was time to take care of myself. I am a pessimist at times and I just knew that the insurance was going to give me a hard tiime. So I put it in my mind to eat right and exercise with or without the surgery. This 2 week diet is a kicker though!

Surgery 9/2-Anyone else have Sleep Apnea? Kinda Nervous.
motherof5 replied to BeenGym'N's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was told by my surgeon to bring it to use after the surgery. They will have you on a breathing machine as well. I think I am more nervous about post surgery. As long as they give me something to calm me before I go in, I am straight, lol.
