August post op sleevers: Check in

Hey Hey Hey! Motherof5 checking in. As of yesterday I am officially a month out. I went ti the surgeon on Monday and I am down 9 pounds. That brings me to 264 pounds now. And a total of 69 pounds friom my highest weight. Unfortunately my BP is still sky high. I still have a long journey ahead with 100 pounds more to lose. I am thankful that I do not have to take my BP meds crushed. That stuff is terrible. I did get very sick the other because I took my meds on an empty stomach. I figured it was from my first egg or the pills. So, now I am straight with that. It still depend on my prtoein shakes. Now I just add fruit to it or spinach and kale. I do the green smoothies to help with the potty issues. I switched my vitamins and started those today. Umm, I cannot eat a lot and I don't overeat. It makes me feel so bad and like something is about to come out of my throat.Who wants to feel like that? It took me all day to eat one egg, geesh. I started doing my recumbent bike, 3 days on and 1 day off. I also found an awesome app on my tablet that I can work on my upper body and bum. i will probably start that tonight or next week. No rush. other than that, I am blessed and doing awesome over here. Oh, I do not weight myself. I wait until my office visits for that. It gives me motivation, the drive to stay on track with my plan. I push myself so that hopefully I will be pleased at my next visit. My new goal is 254 when I go back in October. I noticed how awesome the August folks are doing now. It is much easier now, isn't it? Remember to stay on plan as much as possible. Drink lots of water and do the protein fisrt. Don't sweat the scale because the stall is bound to happen. You are most likely losing in inches. Later Loser!

    African American vsgers!

You guys should add one tablespoon of creamy peanut butter. I tastes like Reeses for real. I also started adding fruits like strawberries or a small piece of a banana. For the potty issues, I started doing kale or spinach in them too.

August post op sleevers: Check in

@@Karen Scott, check out The WorldAccordingToEggface website. She has all types of recipes. You have All recipe.com too. That site has all types of sleeve friendly recipes. I will be 4 weeks out on Friday. My NUT said I can have crackers like Triskets. I took three of those and added feta cheese, salsa, and a dot of sour cream on top. It was good eventhough I was only able to eat 1 1/2. He also suggest that I keep my sugar under 10 g per meal. Call your NUT to get clarity for their plan for you.

@Peekboo., I know I know. I just don't like them cause they are so hard to me. But hopefully with me being lighter, it will be much easier now. Any workout suggestions?

    Pre-op diet...... Destroyed!

I sympathize with you in your current situation. I still get hungry and still have cravings. The sleeve is just for portion control for me. So in a sense, you can still go to food for comfort after the surgery. I hope that this will not happen. You read the stories where people lost all their weight only to regain. It is all mental and only you can fix that. My post op I cheated, no doubt. Its hard when you are the only one trying to eat right in the house. Just stay motivated and do what you have to do before this surgery. Only a few days left and these are important. We are just sharing the love. Take care.

Weight Loss Surgery: The Easy Way Out?

I didn't tell my mother in the beginning about my decision to have the WLS. I mean, we are talking about almost 2 yrs. SHe was totally against it. she was one of those that said it was an easy way out. When I did tell her in August, she out right told me No, you are not going to get it. Okay, I am a 39 year old married woman with five children mother. I didn't say that to her though. I was like okay. The day before my surgery my brother processed to tell her that I was still having the surgery. Of course, he gave me the heads up and I sorta avoided her first 2 call, lol. Anyway, after reading about it herself and actually watching the shows she has a different insight now. She sees how happy I am now and how well things went for me. I think educating oneself is key. SHe had no knowledge of the WLs and it caused her to have fears. It is defintely not the easy way out.

Listen. I want to keep some butt nad hips too. But, at 4 weeks post op I noticed my butt is down. i do feel a little curviness in the hips. But my bottom was even hurting after riding my bike, and that never happened before. That started Saturday. I need to do some squats and lunges for real, lol. I hate lunges though, lol.

Am I eating enough to lose weight?

I talked to my NUT on Monday. He stated with exercise you will fuel for the body. He told me that I can do no more than 110 of carbs per day on a 1000 cal diet. Now, there is no way on Earth I will be able to do that unless I was totally sabotaging my diet. I cannot eat that much at 4 weeks out. But, I do understand what he is saying. I started doing my exercises Saturday, three days on and 1 day off. I stick to the interval biking on the recumbent bike. I soooo want to do the walk at home videos but my arthritis in my knees are not trying to hear that right now. Perhaps I will do one day of the video to start. I always hear about 3-4 week stall. I probably did but I don't even know. I weigh myself at the office visits. No stressing hear, no sir. My doctor did tell me that the weight lose will decrease. But I am going to stick to plan, exercise and work this sleeve. Hopefully by my 2 month visit in October I will be 250.YES! Later losers!

    Pre-op diet...... Destroyed!

Umm, wow wow. Let's see. This whole weight lose thingy is certainly a mental thing. You definitely had an easier pre-op than must I have seen, including mine. But, what's done is done. Make sure today on out you keep on track. I mean, you can do this for three days for sure. Keep yourself busy and drink lots and lots of Water. If you feel the need to eat more, reach for more veggies. If you feel the need to indulge in something not permitted, walk away. Have your hubby serve up the food and leave. You gotta have some kind of control now because afterwards it will be very very hard for you. I mean, its not easy in the first 2-4 weeks post-op anyway. As someone mentioned above, that liver needs to shrink. The above posters have given you good advice and I hope you take it. To better days!
  17. I will be one month this Friday. I lost 22 pounds post op. I don't know about any stalls. I weigh myself at my post op appointments. I enjoy the fact that I feel good and I feel my body changing. My next appointment is in a month and plan to work this sleeve n and plan until then.

    Embarrassed to ask but.....

    Contrception after bypass

My doctor said no mini pill for the first three months because it cause blood clots.I researched online and Webmd states that it is the pill with the hormone that can cause blood clots. IUD is out the question for me because of my blood pressure. But I can wait to play it safe.

Way to go everyone. This is such a blessing. @@momma 1957= way to go @vsgann= loving the groove @mskeisha= I used the miralax and it worked well for me. I also had to thin out my protein shakes. They were way too thick for me.

Feeling like crap at day 10

Glad to know it's not something serious. I remember seeing a surgeon doing the same thing on youtube. He said it was something he did.

    African American vsgers!

So I started on my bike today. I attempted to do 53 minutes but I started to feel light headed and nauseous. I did stop once I was 45 minutes which is good. I do know that I was able to do the whole 53 minutes and then some pre-surgery. So, its definitely as post surgery thing. What was that all about?
