Your story sounds familiar, wait it sounds like mine. I agree with mcbutterpants(love the name) and vsgann2014. You are successful even if you didn't meet that goal. It's down hill from here. -
1 year post-op disappointment
motherof5 replied to Kristina Mccarthy-Martin's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I cannot relate but you look great girlfriend. You really do and should be very happy about how much you lost. It will just a little more time to get there. Patience. You will get there. -
Starting Solids Today
motherof5 replied to JamieLogical's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks for sharing that. I don't know much about reading labels. Definitely will keep this in mind when I am looking at the labels in the future. There is a lot of fiber in those bars which leaves around 3g of carbs depending on which one you buy. I will get a few when I go shopping this week. -
Starting Solids Today

I can't even. I do have to remember to eat slow otherwise I will overeat. I remember those miserable days, SMH. Because I eat so little in one sitting, I eat more often now. It is a good thing that I still enjoy my Protein shakes. I see at our friendly Kroger store that they hae Pure Protein bars on sale 10 for 10. i want to check out the ingredients and then go from there. Looking at the Quest site and they have some yummy looking bars and now some chips, WHAT! -
Getting back into exercises is the hardest for me. I need to do what biker chick and Nevermind is doing.

It is awesome that you lose 22 pounds in 1 month. I bet you are losing crazy inches though. I hope when I weigh in on the 20th I will be the same. I know we expect to lose super fast with the sleeve but it will take time. You are doing great really. -

What size sleeve did your surgeon use?
motherof5 replied to nprcowboy's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I have a 40 bougie and there is a lot of restriction. Once you start eating solids you will feel the restriction. In the beginning you will not because its just liquids. My surgeon told me he uses the 40 bougie because anything lower will increase the leakage rate. I am 6 weeks out and don't have an exercise routine. I am still losing weight though but really need to start exercising to get into habit. The best way to success is to follow, follow, follow your team's plan. Get the recommended Protein and Water count per day, take your Vitamins and try not to fall into old habits. It will not be easy in the beginning but it will get easier. I read on here that several people did lose 100 pounds in 6 months which is awesome. i still have 100 pounds to go and would love that but everyone's journey is different. That phrase you will see often on here but it is true. I hope I helped. -
Starting Solids Today
motherof5 replied to JamieLogical's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey, I thought for sure that you was sleeved in August with me. Anyway, don't force it. That solids are no joke and you don't want to be miserable. I am still depended on the protein shakes because I cannot eat enough of the foods and I am 6 weeks out. One scrambled egg is breakfast and lunch for me. Maybe you can eat one through out the day and go from there. I plan to get some protein bars but I know full well that I will not be able to eat one bar in a sitting. I think for me it will just be a sweet treat every now and then. Just take your time. -
How long did you wait to weigh yourself after vsg?
motherof5 replied to robga999's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hello and welcome to the loser's side. I am 6 weeks out and only weigh myself during my post op visits. Even if you do not see it on the scale, you will notice it in inches. Later loser! -
I made some awesome curried lentils the other day. It was so good. I had onions(love onions), fresh garlic, unsweetened coconut milk, water, cumin, and fresh oregano. Of courseI could only eat maybe two tablespoons, but still good.

How Many Vitamin Pills Do You Take Daily?
motherof5 replied to longer-life's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved 6 weeks ago. Breakfast: two BP meds, Vitamin D Lunch: PPI and half Multivitamin Dinner: two BP meds and half multivitamin I asked my doctor about blood work and he mentioned it will be around 3 months. I think at my next visit I will inquire about that but I feel fine. Also, at 2 months out they prescribe the Caltrate. -
Protein Chips-yay or nay? Fav flavors/brands?
motherof5 replied to LaLoLaughs's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
They look good but knowing me I would probably have like three bags. If it is TOM, I would eat the whole lot of them. Wait, I am thinking with my pre-op tummy. -
Okay, that explains your doctor's response. And you had no problems eating those?
-
@mochax- how far. out are you?
-
Good for you Karen! I know in the beginning you were really struggling and now you see the results and you feel great. Keep it up!

Gawd. I obsess about food more now....
motherof5 replied to marfar7's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Same here. I am always on Allrecipes looking at yummy recipes. I had a tterrible food dream last night. In the back of the store there was nothing but varieties of pastries,OMG! Lol. I have a special spot in my fridge with my leftovers. There's more leftovers for my family because I am not eating it. My eyes are definitely bigger than my tummy. But I am more interested in healthy foods and cooking now. -
So, what's the story behind "no sugar"?
motherof5 replied to Andy810's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Dumping syndrome is no joke. I am a sleever and it happened to me at least three times. I tried diluted juice and I was a hot mess all day. Throwing up and on the toilet at the same time. Obviously it was not diluted enough but Iwill not do that again. Lol -

As a person that takes bp meds I would be concerned about that. Despite the fact that I lost70 pounds from my highest weight, I still have to take them. -
