I had surgery 10/2014 so I'm not quite at 6 mths yet. I've lost 96 lbs which I am SUPER PROUD of so in no way is my question meant to negate that. I was just wondering though, at what point are you out of the rapid weight loss phase and really need to push? Even given the dramatic weight loss, I'm still 50 lbs from my recommended/goal weight but I've pretty much kinda plateaued the last few weeks and no matter what I do, it doesn't really budge.

When did you have bloodwork?
christina1979 replied to chip305's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved in October and have had blood done once. All #s were perfect but still had the hair loss. I started taking the highest dose of Biotin I could find and washed my hair with a biotin-fortified shampoo. I still have a little hair loss but it's definitely improving. Doc says starts slowing down around 6 mths -
Advice needed quickly!

I confirmed that the ham was coated in a brown sugar/honey sauce. I'm not a big fan of turkey so I had more ham than turkey. I know I didn't eat a lot because I actually had less than my typical meal. Not sure what else it would be but regardless I feel like "????". Just wanted to make sure I was safe to drink because I definitely don't want to feel worse than this. Kinda embarrassing that I'm getting sick at work ???? -
I believe I'm in the middle of a bout with dumping syndrome. We had a company Thanksgiving potluck and although I ate very very little, I think some of what I thought was "safe" really wasn't and now I feel horrible. It's been past the required 30 minutes to drink and I'm so thirsty but I'm worried it may make it worse. Does anyone know of I'm at least ok to drink while I wait for this to pass??? FYI, this totally sucks

I just had some turkey (white meat no skin) and ham. Wanted to stick with the higher protein since I'd only be able to eat a little. I think the ham may have been made with brown sugar though. My fault for not asking ???? -
It's been a little over a month since I was sleeved and I've only lost 2 lbs in the last 2 weeks. Yes, I know about the stall and I've read up on it a million times but can't find the logic. Why when I dieted on my own did I never hit the stall but now I do? I feel like this was beyond a waste of time. It's frustrating to be on a regular diet that allows carbs and "cheat" days once in awhile and lose more weight than a surgery that has put me at such food restrictions. I seriously am getting depressed. I'm doing everything recommended and nothing. Doesn't seem like I get full like others do and I'm always wanting food, even tho I don't give in. Just wish I could turn back time & rethink my decision. Sorry for the complaining but then again, I need to get it out.

So discouraged
christina1979 replied to christina1979's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have a pair that I bought that I refused to get rid of because I felt that if I bought jeans that were too small and then decided later on to give a way, I was basically accepting my weight as is and was settling on it being a long term lifestyle. I think it's time to pull them out and use it as my short term goal. I try to measure myself since I know that even tho a scale may not budge, inches may. However, I'm completely not coordinated enough to get the tape around me. I always seems to twist it up or drop it ☺️ -
So discouraged
christina1979 replied to christina1979's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
In no way have I compared myself to others' weight losses or stalls. I am comparing my current weight loss with my previous attempts. Yes, I have been calorie-restricted before as surgery was not my first weight loss attempt but as I stated, I never stalled. I'm aware that everyone is different so I have no intention of comparing myself to Jill, Sarah, Bob, or Steve. I'm simply venting that I'm frustrated because I -as of right now- feel I was more successful dieting on my own. And after reading threads, it's a little comforting to know others are having the same issue thus letting me know I'm not broken or a failure. Thanks for the comment though. And good luck on your journey. -

Thanks all. It's frustrating because I am getting in the protein, water, and exercise. I don't know what more I can do or what else I can add in -
Stall at 1.5 weeks post-op-seriously?
christina1979 replied to Lndrn723's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I stalled at week one and I'm almost 4 wks post op and I'm losing sooooooo damn slowly, it's making me question this whole thing. I dropped weight faster on my own before I looked to surgery. ???? -
So, tomorrow I'll be 3 weeks post op and on Saturday, I'll be 35. Of course, everyone wants to do some type of bday dinner so any advice on where to go or what to eat this early on?? The tradition has always been Olive Garden but that clearly won't be happening.....

I only eat the Zuppa Toscano so I'm not sure if I'm ready for all that -
Upcoming Birthday
christina1979 replied to christina1979's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks. I know the funny look. I was at an autumn festival and wanted something to drink so I asked a million questions about the hot chocolate and hot apple cider. It's funny to see their faces -
I posted once before about feeling like I'm missing the full signal and I was told since I'm on liquids, I probably wouldn't feel it. My diet has since progressed to more solid foods and I was just wondering what signs people experience when they get the full signal. I'm terrified of over doing it. I just ate some canned chicken and aside from some constant gurgling up through my throat, I have nothing else to go off of. Opinions please.

Full sensation
christina1979 replied to christina1979's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've heard that but haven't experienced it. I did have the burp/hiccup today as I was eating scrabbled eggs so I quit eating right then and there. As for the throat sensation, I feel gurgles go up through my throat but not a food sensation -
Stall at 1.5 weeks post-op-seriously?
christina1979 replied to Lndrn723's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgery was the 10th and I stalled at about a week too. It finally moved a bit today but just a pound. I've been cleared for cardio so think I'm going to have to start doing more than just neighborhood walks. -
Which food tracking app are you using?
christina1979 replied to Doxie Mom of 3's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I downloaded an app from iTunes called ProteinTracker. It costs about 4.00 but it lets you set the protein goal and then also provides you with fat/carb percentages. Ever since I downloaded it, I've been able to hit my protein goal. I tried the FitnessPal since it was free but I wanted something more straightforward since protein is a prime focus. Don't mind paying a small fee if it keeps me where I need to be. -
Full sensation
christina1979 replied to christina1979's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That's very helpful because I actually feel that now and you're right, so not comfortable. Glad I read your post and quit eating lol. I'd probably be in alotta pain -

2 weeks post opt
christina1979 replied to tazpur74's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Everyone keeps talking about this 2-4 week stall but I just started week 2 and I feel like I already started my stall at the end of week one. Is this common? I am so frustrated..... -
Missing the "Full" signal
christina1979 replied to christina1979's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank you. I need to get outta the habit of comparing myself to others. ???? -
I'm 8 days out and since day 1, I've had gurgling with each bite (well, sip) of food. The gurgle travels up my chest sorta like acid reflux. I always thought this was suppose to be a signal but this happens with EVERY bite including the first. I only eat 1/2 cup of food (well, soup) because my NUT said I'd only tolerate 1/4-1/2 cup, but I'm worried that I might be over doing it because I don't know when I'm full. I'm really missing the indicators and it worries me.
