hi Chrissy! Thanks for replying to my post. Yes, I am feeling great. I started at 135 on the first day of pre-op diet with Optifast and today I weighed in at 122. That's a significant amount of weight dropped. Not enough but a wonderful start. I have Saturday 20th and Sunday 21st to remain on liquids and then onto mashed foods I go! Keen! I do feel fantastic! Today was my first real experience (out of my trackies, ha ha) and back in public and I was a bit overwhelmed at how lovely people's comments were about the change. I didn't realise they'd notice! Thanks for the offer to ask questions and connect with you. That's really gracious of you. I'll certainly keep it in mind. Keep those kilo's off and stay focused! I don't want to end up that person again and I'm sure you dont want to see her again either! Best of luck, Cath

Hi Helen and Sean, I'm Cath and Ben did my sleeve at Ashford on 8th September. Happy to engage in chat with you if you need a hand or want someone to talk to. I'm still on the liquid diet stage (2 weeks post-op) My advice for while you're IN HOSPITAL - ask the dietician to organise Optifast made with Water. Milk for some reason gave a heap of us in there extra wind. Given that they put air inside of you (to see better) it's the wind that's uncomfortable when you recover. Best of luck, Cath.

Must take it easy and be kind to yourself. This is a major surgery. Yes, you're going to be in pain. Have the medicines regularly. It will get better.

hi - the reason for the liquids is that so that NO particle of food gets stuck in the internal stitches. If it does, food can leak into your internals and it is life threatening. Also, your stomach can't weight bare heavy foods, another reason. A nurse in my hospital told me that a lady had pizza a couple of days after she was discharged. A piece of pineapple became lodged in her internal sutures (stitches) and she was rushed to emergency. She then spent 79 days in hospital recovering... and the doctors struggled to keep up with the damage she had done to herself. I know it's hard. I'm at the tail end of 'liquid only' and I've learned to be creative. Craving real food but the words "LIFE THREATENING" keep me focused. If think it's a psych thing, a habit - seek a counsellor help. But for your life and that of your family, stick to liquids for 2 weeks post-op. Good luck C
