  5. it's not a silly question - i wish i was a bit more prepared. i did not have a pre-op diet, my weight loss the first 4+ months was very slow. 8lbs the first month, 3 the second, i was pretty discouraged - but just kept following along with the advice i got here & my dr. by month 5, the weight started to fly off a bit faster. not sure if the slow loss in the beginning was due to me having a lower BMI or no pre-op diet, not sure. good luck to you!
  6. i think 1cc's is what i got on my first fill - but i also had saline put in during surgery....so my band was not altogether empty. it's completely normal to not feel restriction after the swelling has gone down, the advice to journal your food & follow your dr's food plan is a good idea.

    Help Please

you may want to start your day with something warm, say a cup of tea. i found that when i'm tight in the morning (which is not usual) coffee or tea (i like peppermint - also soothes my tummy), loosens me up so i can eat my Breakfast. your still early out, and likely have swelling going on....that might take a few more days to lessen. congrats on your band!!!

    Why don't y'all see?

Oh, but I don,t need my hide turned in. I will have my close family, which I have had the pleasure in paying better than avg wages & medical care for....see them naturalized this coming jan. Baby bro is an immigration lawyer & I have done it all by the books. I bet those who run ranches can,t say the same...I can.

    Why don't y'all see?

i realize immigration is a hot topic - i use to work for INS (4th & I in DC). i "get" it on all fronts, however i really struggle and view things a bit differently now living in TX. in owning a ranch - i "need" ranch help...not necessarily FT year long, but i would pay for FT help if i could find someone. that means taxes & health insurance, etc. but guess what ? my ad's in the paper / feed store / and every local green sheet go unanswered by "legals". i have an undocumented family **at the moment** (2 brothers & 1 wife) who handle our ranch & ranch house. i'd LOVE to pay for them to have health insurance & would have no issue paying taxes on their earnings. DH and i have already paid for 2 trucks for their family & got them housing - working with some friends of mine from INS that got them visas. we have also paid for many "extras" out of pocket. because i use to work for INS - i'm helping them become legalized citizens...however, i don't view them as strains on society that many would consider. these are hard working individuals, who have a work ethic bar none....i will even attend mass w/them on sundays (sometimes..my bad) which is their day off - but they always show up afterwards making sure i'm ok .... knowing my husband does a LOT of international business travel. i realized in DC that the immigration issue rests in the politicians hands - not those trying to come to the US to make a better life for themselves & their family. i agree in better laws, but i'll not be convinced of "stealing" jobs when there are a plenty and some of our "own" legal citizens would themselves rather sit and take a check vs doing a bit of hard work... the financial strain i see is shared...probably not a popular opinion & understand if those don't see it that way.

no negatives here - that's an awfully long time to be on a pre-op diet. hopefully, you can just pick back up today & regroup....good luck to you!!!

slim - i've been here going on 15yrs. lived in NYC, DC & many months on end in No Cal. i have grown fond of TX. i'm not sure DH would want to live anywhere else - if i had my druthers; i would live in austin or it's surrounding areas.

    Silly question

it's a catch 22 having a pre-op diet or not. i didn't have one, but my husband did (we were banded the same day). the good, was well the obvious....was able to eat up until surgery; also i did not have any regain at any point in this process. once DH went onto mushies / solids - he gained about half of what he lost on the pre-op liquid diet. to me that is more of a mental anguish than - losing way slow out of the gate.
  22. Note from the week -my sweet tooth has been very strong:blush: but I found a highlight: had a great time with my friends at the Capitol Grill last night. Being someone who truly loves food (creating, eating, sharing, discovering) I have never minded spending money on good food. Although the price tag is sometimes very high - I am definitely enjoying getting 3-4 meals out of an entree  (my friends were a little jealous) DH and i met friends @ Capitol Grill (dallas) 3 wkends ago. the grilled ahi tuna is FANTASTIC!!!!!....got me craving it now:tongue: dh (also banded) has his porterhouse for 4 more meals... yesterday - b- eas strawberry carb control l- cup chicken Soup w/half tuna wrap s- 1/4c pistachios & small apple d- 1c mexican pot roast , 2 glasses of wine
  23. yesterday - b- scrambled egg w/half slice of english muffin w/butter s- .5oz cheddar l- 3/4c tai chicken & basil d- 1c meat sauce & spaghetti squash s- 1 adkins peanut butter cup *think it's time for a fill*
