First fill and nothing - suggestions please!
luluc replied to San Diego Mom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
something to also consider - a fill "may" take a few wks to kick in, which is another reason many docs take it slow in the beginning. slim gave some good advice on the subject & how her dr handles the process. -
i luv adulterated coffee & wish to do so this am. i normally have no issues sleeping - NEVER; last night i flipped the pillows every 5 minutes ... early hot flashes??? no email alerts here as well - thought it was a crackberry issue.

ok - i'm going out on a HUGE limb here for the texas breakfast burrito. ferris, tx. if you google it - you might miss it's little blip on the map. but OMG it is "street taco" and you just point to what you want on it. ellis county - south of 45; harley joint. you wait on line outside w/bikers & can get a margarita or tecate while you wait....love that place.

hey glouc - i can't either, but wow it's so much fun. .., we just got bowling - so i think we might try that next. LOVE the new avtr!!!!! hope the new job is well!!

Omg!!! No more soup!!!
luluc replied to aloudwhisper's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i really didn't get sick of soups - but i have been sick a few times in the last year and each time i have DH get me a mango smoothie from the smoothie factory.... i'm sure you can make your own (can add a Protein shot in if you like).....your right soup only goes so far, when i'm not feeling hot - i want fruit. gets better & your right around the corner to the next phase of food. -
my surgeon thought i was a great candidate for lap band - i didn't have any discussions w/my PCP about it - my OB yes. though i didn't have any co-morbids my BMI was similar to yours and climbing even w/diet & exercise. hey, anything over 30 is obese & if you have an opportunity to fix it earlier rather than later DO so.... all the best,

Need Help-PCP says 30's are too young for WLS
luluc replied to lovinglife's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
some surgeons do not require PCP approval - but that might be an insurance stipulation & your friend should find those specifics out. mine didn't find out till after i was banded ; only my OB knew because i was trying to get insurance approval with her help - to no avail; i still went ahead self pay. 30 is NOT TOO young - your friend is obese; no matter what age....taking care of that be it WLS is far better than the alternative with his given medical history. if he has another dr (for heart/bp/etc) he should get in contact with them to get on board. when all else fails, i've seen people change PCP to GET the approval they need for surgery. wishing your friend luck!! -
HELP! Thinking of canceling tomorrow surgery
luluc replied to WannaBSkinnyB's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
but with the band - you have a tool to assist you NOT gaining that weight back. your starting weight & amount to lose is similar to mine - it can be done. yes they're hurdles / plateaus / complications - it's a leap of faith in any WLS that it will have great results - you play a large part in that success. it's normal to feel a bit scared - take a deep breath, yes there are complications ... but i've read 10 times the more success stories. good luck to you!! -

that's what DH and i did - watched them all & we choose the one we found didn't do the SAME routine with every client. once we selected him - we found out a bit more; he's an ex marine, has a degree in biology/nutrition, multiple certifications in training, GREAT personality, took the time to learn about the lapband, and customized our workouts around some limitations dh and i have (me, i have spinal arthritis / hubby, bad back). we have been training with him for almost a yr - i actually consider him part of our family. he really cares about our progress & health. it would not have bothered me if he had WLS.

i didn't tell my parents till i was 6 months post-op, and i'm very glad i waited. they were very supportive and thought it was great that i got my weight under control (they're very thin people who never had weight issues)...however i didn't really want the watchful eye or comments - especially because i was a slow loser in the beginning. by 6months out you could actually tell i had lost weight, not really beforehand... it also helped they're a time zone away...
-
k- thankfully just doing coffee at the moment...
-
agreed, my mom said i was fussy w/baby food as a baby ; couldn't imagine it now. there are a lot more choices of adult food to choose from in the mushy stage.
