  1. i don't have any issues aside from sticky rice in sushi. i have to take my time with that - otherwise when i make rice at home it's brown whole grain & i've replaced my pasta with the ronzoni smart taste version. pasta has always been one of my downfalls - i try to limit it to once or twice a month.

  4. i like your math MUCH better jacqui!!! so when i went to my drs online calculator to figure out percentage of excess weight - i just NOW realized that 105lbs puts me at the lowest end of "normal" BMI, not the higher end, like i am at 23. whew!!! i was thinking 105 was just plain ridiculous on my frame....LOL . i'm such a goober. body fat - i do a lot of weight training, and well i force myself to run....still don't love it like you do - but it's a necessary evil if i want to eat the foods i want to.

LOL - it has EVERYTHING to do with that i'm half jewish & from NY....oh and being liberal doesn't help:wink: but then again - hubby is HER baby and she would like to remain his rightful owner till her death...or his:eek:
  10. a different perspective. i was always the smallest (not just in height) amongst family and friends......till i added 75lbs to my 5'1 frame. i literally went into seclusion for 2+ yrs - not attending any social function, turning down dinner/luncheons, not visiting my family in NY & FL - just hiding out. the first of those 2yrs was packing on another 15lbs - the other one was when i got banded. i KNEW the weight would not come off fast for me...so i just kept myself buried in this journey and only focused on what i was able to deal with at that moment. come the first of summer i finally felt comfortable getting out and about. i just got the nod & compliments that i'm looking like my old self. i was happy with that, no need to make anything more of it. now hubby is PISSED that every wkend we have a function again. he liked his down time...LOL there has only been 1 friend that i've gotten the cold shoulder from and that is solely because i'm not the fat one anymore and she is. it's an ugly assessment, but it's a fact. she has done what i did - and gone into her own seclusion. she has to work that out - it's not my issue; but i feel for her......hurts being that "friend"...been there.
  11. i have not lost 100% of my excess weight. for me to do so, i would need to get down to 105lbs & i haven't been that weight since jr high. i'm short & curvy with a muscular build - going down to 105 was not my goal; 125 was. i still took my BMI from 36 to 23, and not sure my starting body fat % but it's 19.2 right now - 17% is my new goal. i have not lost a single lb since the summer, in fact i am anywhere from 123-127 on any given day - however i've not let up on exercise and my size and body definition improves weekly. most clothes i'm a size 4; since i like to be comfortable i have been buying 6's and having them tailored....i'm use to that be a shorty:wink: i am pretty comfortable where i currently am - would like the butt to be a bit firmer and the tummy a tad flatter...but overrall i'm please w/the results.
  12. i LOVE it. the milky Protein drinks get old after a while & this is something i can drink easily every day. @90 calories & 23g protein per 16oz, i felt like i was drinking a crystal light drink (sorta - lol). i was able to run an extra mile yesterday before looking down to see if i "can" be done. thanks so much for the recommendation.

Weight Loss and its Relation to PS

oh to be 5'9..... i agree apples - i'm happy w/the weight gone and if cellulite was part of the package - oh well. that's not to say that i'm not taking care of the eyes this January . ETA - saw your second post; i read it as it was posted to "all"

Weight Loss and its Relation to PS

sorry apples but that comparison did make me laugh.. i will be 40 in june, and i carry/carried the bulk of my weight in the hips/thighs & butt. the 36DD's went to 32D's - my waist got smaller than it was & the problem south of the border looks a LOT better. i haven't a need for PS due to weight loss. i'm short & curvy and would like to keep it that way - sure if i turnaround in the mirror ; i see cellulite on my a$$ and thighs - but like the wrinkles around the eyes, i'm trying to embrace. if not - i won't look in the mirror backwards,
  15. hey julie - starting weight was 200lbs.

i just plug along with exercise - it's the ONLY way this band will work for me...using both!

    happy holidays!!

    Ho Ho Holidays

i plan to eat a small healthy meal before the cocktail parties we have coming up. that way i can focus on my friends & not the food. we also have 2 dinner parties, and i have already looked online at the restaurants menu & have an idea of what to order....i have to have some idea planned in advance or i'm likely to make bad decisions. around the house, since it's just hubby and i and he too is banded....i just keep temptation at bay. i'll take to an extra glass of wine here or there at dinner - but will keep the "snacks" at the store.. small hijack - julie your new avi is GREAT!!!
  17. call your insurance company or your HR dept and get a copy of your policy. find out if it: a- actually covers weight loss surgery b- if they do cover WLS what are the requirements (bmi / 6 month diet / comorbidities / etc) c- seek out a surgeon that covers your insurance (pending it does) my insurance does cover WLS, but i did not meet their criteria in having a BMI of 36 w/no comorbities. that's information you want to deal with up front, rather than play a waiting game only to be denied. good luck to you!!

    Plateau need help

slim makes a good point in shocking the body. i had to play around a LOT with my calories to find that "number", which resulted in steady weight loss after 6 months in. for me, 1100 calories a day seemed to be what worked best. 800-1000 seemed fine in the beginning - but it no longer worked; and worked consistently. i would also change up "what" your eating as well, and if your exercising - try a new routine.

Susan...I think your post is important, because those of us posting are at all different stages in this process. At 14 months post op, ican see it being easy to give yourself a break. I do, but I make mental deals w/myself. Can,t "have this or drink that" w/out getting my butt to the gym. Sounds odd, but it,s working so far....sending you hugs!!!
