Does it bother anyone to sleep on their stomach with their port?
luluc replied to Just Banded's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
yep, that's how i am - not "pain" per se'..but i have discomfort when sleeping & exercising. my trainer this AM was over me while doing abs and put his hand over my stomach & he felt then saw my port...so, i don't know whats going on; other than to have it checked out. that would be what i would suggest to you as well. -
Is anyone else COLD all the time?
luluc replied to SkinnyKathy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
hey suzanneg, too cold to post & get online? LOL i have resorted to my 105lb lab laying between DH and myself....he's the best heating blanket there is lately & snores less!..hope you have a great holiday!!!! lu~ -
i have makeup issues - HATE makeup, that would be first. second - i have bare minerals and after being banded my face is very dry; so the mineral makeup looks "caked" on. i'm a cherry chapstick (i kissed a girl & i liked it...song in my head now) and mascara only person most days. i've found the aveda tinted moisture sp15 - to act as a foundation; but still not in love. each wk i'm buying some new product looking for that magic "glow"....think PS will help; well i keep telling DH that.

Oprah's Struggle with her weight
luluc replied to Nina_S's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
i really don't watch oprah that often - but i get her magazine monthly. i commend her open & honest candor about her weight regain - i'm sure many here can relate. my only issue with her, is her lack of understanding or empathy for those that have gone down the WLS route. she's had too many shows where she has shown disdain for those who have elected to have weight loss surgery & for that i find unfortunate. -
Is anyone else COLD all the time?
luluc replied to SkinnyKathy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i can never get warm unless completely bundled up & a few labs on my lap & feet. i'ts only 50 in Dallas, TX today and might as well be below zero. even tho cold; i'll take that over the extra lbs. -
ebony - i just love your upbeat posts and they have been very appreciate this past wk... so back in the gym this AM, i can totally see how you can get off track & out of routine if your not consistent about exercise. not kicking & screaming - but not excited i met my trainer; he was kind to me...didn't kill me that much. i had my measurements & BF checked today....creeping along; lost inches in my arms & waist only along with a drop of .4% body fat - catching up ceradad, @ 18.8% right now. so today - 3 mile bike warm up 50 min trainer session - resistance / weights / core; lower weights today 2 mile run have a good day all~

Measuring Total Inches Lost
luluc replied to Band_Groupie's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
my trainer measures: neck forearm / bicep waist hip thigh calf it's a really good idea to take measurements - they help you from going crazy when the scale doesn't want to move... -
yeah - i'm use to dulse in miso soup. red seaweed jerky doesn't sound too appealing - i'd let your hubby keep it as well.

alone by itself you had some?? it's always just been in soups when i've had it.....blech is right all by its lonesome.!.

Does it bother anyone to sleep on their stomach with their port?
luluc replied to Just Banded's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i'm over a yr out and i have some discomfort with the port, especially when i sleep (stomach sleeper too). mine is pretty exposed/raised, not sure if that's the problem or too many abdominal exercises has aggravated it - either way, i have an appt w/my surgeon on monday...in the meantime a good body pillow makes it a bit easier....hope it clears up for ya! -

Get fill even though not sticking to diet?
luluc replied to SlicedBread's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i just want to pull something out from the OP's original comment about his girlfriend: The theory being that, even if she eats non-protein items like a salad, it will still help her a good bit, rather than the little bit of help she's getting now. never read ice cream / pizza / soda in any of this - talking salad. a healthy item, something that should be part of a balance diet. now i realize tom has some good points regarding discipline & structure - but like jachut i too would be considered a band failure by his standards. these rules; well i find annoying that someone would tell me that i'm breaking a rule that wasn't even mandated on myself. i too am self pay; and for the first time ever i took to a structured / discipline approach to banding. even in maintenance mode i still journal my food and exercise daily. perfect NO - but that's not what i signed up for with the band. portion control and to re-tool a healthy life sytle was just the nudge i needed. my recommendation was and is for this posters girlfriend is to find a balanced diet that works long term - that includes breaking away everynow and then for a treat. it's not all or nothing here. -
saggy boobs... will they bounce back?
luluc replied to Babe's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
after taking the poll i realized i was the only one who voted yes. i went from a 36DD to a 32D - i felt they were more droopy then than they are now......but i just got some new bra's and the girls look pretty darn good for pushing 40. -
all protein i'm sure...

Does having good restriction mean that things will get stuck more often?
luluc replied to Losing_It_In_Texas's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i view restriction as being satisfied with smaller portions for longer periods of time. if your not careful and eat too fast, not chew enough....sure you'll get stuck with your food, but i don't view being "stuck" as a gauge on your sweet spot. being too tight is a problem that you want to pay attention to - you should be able to eat most foods w/out issue. there is a fine line between the sweet spot & being over filled. -
sorry beth - but donna just make me laugh my A$$ off at that one:)

congrats JWhipple & wife!!!! i was banded the same day as my husband last Oct - it was really helpful to do it together ... wish you both lots of success!!!
