What happens when you reach your goal weight?
luluc replied to FatManInALittleCoat's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
no idea. i have a healthy paranoia that it may not last forever - but have my fingers crossed i've learned something this past year about portion control / nutrition / exercise. i've been up a few lbs lately & that's because i have not put the hours in at the gym that i had been doing - while attending too many holiday parties. i've made it a point to never buy another size up in clothing, and since i gave away all previous sizes - i kinda put my heels to the fire. so back in the gym this wk, make my trainer earn his pay ..LOL & maybe get a fill today; it's a constant of checking yourself. -
yes were. hubby is a die hart cowboy fan/ticket holder - he just married a NY'er who is a HUGE giant fan. i'm crying in my tea this AM...
-
didn't do too much this wkend, holiday parties/cowboy game (go ahead ceradad, enjoy!) back to the grind: saturday - nothing sunday - about 2hrs horseback riding & walking with the dogs today - taking DH's training session this afternoon, need to sweat some of the bad out:tongue:
-
yesterday - b- skinny latte s- half cucumber & hummus l- bowl of chicken cacciatore w/spaghetti squash d- at football game so: some popcorn, few bites of beer brat, chips & queso, 1 beer i am going to be so good this wk!!! no holiday parties till friday & see my band dr today; might get a small fill.

yikes, that would be way too long for me to wait for a glass of wine:wink:. sounds like that's your surgeons recommendation; they all seem to have a difference of opinions on a variety of post op instructions. i have wine wkly - i take into consideration it's calories & try to exercise a bit more.
-
diet & exercise is my mainstay comment & it's truthful:wink: i just realized she lost her eating buddy; we use to take cooking classes, wine tasting, try the "new" restaurant every wk. she's put on some weight & i'm just hoping i didn't offend...i also don't want to disclose my surgery, catch 22.

we were w/our "foodie" friends last night. in the last yr we have only gone out to dinner a few times; and was able to fly under the radar with food choices....last night, i got called out for eating so little. i was able to brush it off, though i had a bite of everything - just realized i ate like a PIG in the past. none of them know DH and i are banded & hubby said i brought a bit of attention to myself because i left a plate with a lot of food still on it, like it was "poor food"....and it wasn't - just could and only wanted a bite; my plate was made for me..UGH.

i have an appt w/my surgeon tomorrow afternoon, i'll let you know what he says. mine is extremely visible, where it once was right next to my belly button - is now right where my sports bra hits, and it a tad tender. i've had it checked twice to see if it's moved or out there floating since it moved about 3inches up - all seems fine. it's sore after a workout, and not sure because it hits my sports bra or what - but plan on getting it checked. had a form fitting shirt on last night and DH walked up behind me at our dinner party to let me know it was showing :tongue2:
-
it is VERY windy out, hope he does well! hey does anyone have a low profile port or had one changed out to one? pro/cons?
-
not for me, it just takes a LONG time to go down or can be painful (sticky sushi rice & dry chicken are my problem foods). i haven't thrown up since banded.
-

Hello All...especially those from DFW
luluc replied to narose's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
hi narose - i would give your insurance a call and find out what they will or will not cover - there are so many nuances to the different policies. my insurance also would not cover me because my bmi was too low - however they paid for all pre-op testing & now cover my fills minus my $10 copay. from the day i was denied by insurance; decided to go self pay - my surgery was w/in 10days...(didn't have pre-op diet).....i would call first thing monday both surgeon and insurance and get all the specifics up front. good luck to you ... -
bbk - ((hugs)) beth - ((hugs as well)) snt - :cursing: thanks for catching me spelling error:sneaky: missing girl - i feel very sorry for that family! lunch - was pretty fun, LOTS of wine! my friends commented that they didn't ever see me as gaining weight till they saw me yesterday....hard to miss my ass which could have had it's own zip code if you ask me. pjtp - contemplating the gym, quick run or back to bed...:rolleyes2:
-
yesterday - b - nectar peach Protein smoothie l- ahi tuna w/olive tapenade & wine (xmas lunch w/friends) d - grilled veggies & few bites of filet (steak was a little over cooked for my liking and made it difficult to go down)
-
so i changed my signature because i haven't seen 123 in over 3 wks - must be gaining muscle.. congrats littlemissband!!!
-
freestylin' beth - go start a global warming thread; i'd be interested in reading ljm - i sure hope you start feeling better! sms - i just picked out my brother's gf ring the other day for him - clueless....finally glad he's popping the question, and she owes me big time..LOL technogeeks - i'm married to a confessed gadget whore. we got new storms for xmas and some wii games; there is no chance i could ever buy him a gift, but i do like the power station...good idea cc - my mom always hits me up w/her "dreams", the other day she called to let me know she had a dream that i needed to get my oil changed. told her that was DH"s job and i'm sure i needed one. she comes up w/some doozies! so today i meet my best girlfriends for xmas late lunch early diner - no husbands & lost of wine...can't wait, haven't seen 2 since last feb & now i'm smaller than them. i know sounds catty, but i'm ok w/that:biggrin:

Does it bother anyone to sleep on their stomach with their port?
luluc replied to Just Banded's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
thanks just banded, i had barely any belly fat when i was banded (pear shaped - carried majority in hip/thigh/butt) and i had a lot of port pain once i woke up from surgery. my surgeon told me that he had to stitch it to a lot of muscle because of that. i waited close to 6 months post of to do any ab exercises - just for that reason. i saw your post on the heart monitor. i haven't used one, so i didn't respond....but i will say this. my port after surgery was right above my belly button on the left side. after losing weight is has moved up to right under where my sports bra hits about 3 inches. it's intact (had it checked twice) - i just would really love it in some other spot. i plan on having that discussion monday w/my surgeon. -
Yeah! today - spin class ... sure wish this class was at 8 vs 5 am :wink2:
-
yesterday b- kashi oatmeal packet s- half cucumber w/hummus & slice of pepper jack cheese l- crab cake w/spicy sauce s- handful of popcorn d - 1/2c smart start Cereal w/dried fruit & 2% milk

Should people barely over 200 lbs or below 200 get Lapband or any WLS...?
luluc replied to Froggi's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
still subscribed & still have an opinion on this subject. heather - re: 2) Those who did not do research and do not have a full understanding or the ability to commit to what banding entails. i was the MOST ill informed WLS patient ever. was tired of being over weight & miserable - saw a commercial; got a dr; denied insurance; went self pay all w/in a month or so. now what i did the minute i woke up from surgery is something all together different....but wow - i had NO clue; no idea and i found this website after the fact. i had a crash course in a matter of days of what do to...so it's possible the ill informed can make this work - or have the best intentions of doing just that. marieg - having a higher BMI requires you to just have to lose that much more weight once banded. earlier in this thread i stated i wished i had the band placed BEFORE i gained weight in my 30's. if at a BMI of 30 you are considered obese, then why should WLS not be a consideration? why wait? why are the insurance companies wanting you to gain an additional 10 points to your BMI, go through a 6 month diet, expect comorbidities & so on? it's downright cruel. as for a foreign object - my mom is held together with pins fighting arthritis, along with a hip replacement. foreign objects are part of the medical community in fighting disease - obesity is one of them. off the soap box, while others chime in.
