min-pin - dh and i also thought colleen would have lost more weight - but she did look beautiful & happy .... they all did. question - did anyone else sit and try to guess their weight before the number came up? i'd hit pause and try & guess....and boy was i OFF on a lot of them. i have no concept of how much i weigh and how i look to others, because i don't see it. i would really loved to have know their heights. i have issues...LOL:tongue2:

    December Exercise Challenge

dh packs his all the time; but 9/10 they never get used - even w/his runners!:smile2: today is my day off fr working out, however DH is home and we have movers coming shortly to move us from downstairs - upstairs, as that part of the remodel is done....and then they can gut where we have been living for the last yr....AFTER the NYR. i'm sure i'll be doing some lifting or giving LOTS of direction.
  3. then just nod to the dr that said that nonsense, get the recommendation you need and move along with the bariatric surgeon - who is going to be the one you need true support from. if you look at my signature, you'll see i'm not much taller than you, and while 112 is not a weight i want to be - i'm in a healthy bmi range. keep reading here, you'll find many who have lost 130lbs or darn near close. good luck!!
  4. my starting bmi was 36 & change - today it's 23 = normal.

not surprising at all! DH has one rule - betray his trust, he'll never have a thing to do with you, including an explanation = DONE. i enjoy a good sparing, lets me use them big SAT words....i've not had the friendship betrayal & hope i don't ... for their sake:tongue2:

    Think Oprah has given up?

i don't watch her show either (get her mag subscription - because it's actually a good read) ... but that episode was talked about here before and after wards. i too lost all respect for her how she treated that young girl and her mother for going to dr ortiz for the lapband - yet applauded the girls who did it the "REAL" way. wonder who has kept that weight off so far...?? just sayin' i don't rely on anyone in the media to influence my purchasing decisions be that from a car / home / pet / groceries or WLS. like donna at a size 10, i felt fat - didnt' necessarily need the mirror to tell me that; but telling myself i just needed to accept myself took me to a size 16 day of surgery. i think oprah has backed her 200lb butt into a corner now, to ever go and have WLS - which is a damn shame. she would be able to eat her cake & enjoy it if she did - though only a half a slice....unfortunate she's shun the only thing that might help her beat the deamons. i'm not saying WLS is for everyone - but she sure has the ability to benefit.

i always miss ya!:crying: not a fan of eyebrow licking beth :blushing: kat - that was a great story & NSV....seems like a NSV day. tis' snowing - i always feel bad when its' cold out for the horses & longhorns.....hope the hay keeps them warm..
  13. i voted that i lost 50% or more with making changes to my post op diet with input from my doctor. my surgeon has a "post op diet" standard that is not too far off from the aussie approach - i however made self imposed restrictions on myself after reading way too much here. it did nothing for me. many talks with my dr led me to change my diet & change it frequently playing around with calories to find the number that would result in weight loss - based on my activity. aside from regular exercise - i run a ranch FT. the more active i am - the more i eat & need to as well. at my appt yesterday , my dr said to change nothing - eat when hungry & that's pretty much what i have been doing, getting 100%+ ewl off. need for the holidays to be over - and i can get back to my routine is all...:blushing:

    CONFESSION TIME..spill it

i have a hard time parting w/books & don't read nearly enough. our library is PACKED, and while in renovation mode - i promised DH to get rid of some....i've been looking at the boxes of my nancy drew & judy bloom books from the 70's unwilling to ship to my brother who has 4 girls just yet. i'm sure i will - when they're ready to paint...LOL i've read 3 nancy drews in the last wk....been fun to re-read 30 yrs later.

    Husband/wife bandsters

my husband and i were banded the same day last oct. while pretty competitive, is was really a blessing we did it together, though we did not have similar experiences. he needed 3 fills for restriction - got to goal in 6 months and "maybe" goes to the gym once a wk. me, i needed 8 fills and still don't call out goal because i have personal fitness goals i want to meet, i'm also in the gym 5-6 days a wk. he can't eat anything in the morning - but snacks all night. me, i'm pretty much on schedule with what i eat & when.... even though our bands operate differently - the net result is the same.....good luck to you both!
  18. hey cheeseaholic!!!! i'm refraining today...

i'm very bad about locking doors as well on the ranch. i figure i'd let my labs lick an intruder to death....:mad2: it is a bit of false sense of security though. pjtp - schools are closed or delayed in dfw, i'm guessing for just being cold as s**t out. actually there are some icy roads. i just remember growing up in NY you had to have a LOT of snow or ice on the ground for school to close :blushing:
  20. i do most times. it generally last 7-10 days... yesterday - b- 1/2c chicken cacciatore l- chocolate/peanut butter protein drink s- wasa cracker w/chive cream cheese d- bowl of beef stew - lots of veggies
  21. i was self pay, so in that cost the first yr i had 10 free fills. my insurance will now pay for my fills (just not surgery:rolleyes:), minus my $10 copay. they're $100 cash pay.
  22. hubby and i were also banded the same day. we have had totally separate experiences from fills, food, exercise, PB, can't eat in the am, you name it. it really is all random.

i was there last yr - just take it slow & try to fill up on healthier items. i have zero as far as a sweet tooth goes, but anything savory begs to be tasted....currently having cheese issues.LOL re: low profile port. doc does not want to do anything unless there is a problem. have an egd next wk - we'll see...he also didnt' give me a baby fill which i wanted till he see the results.
  24. i will have a few sips w/my meal, but typically i treat the wine like "dessert" after wards. i've not realized if it "hits" me harder - but i definitely drink less than prior to banding; which just goes along with a healthier lifestyle.
