unknown. i have surgical consult on tsday (my lapband dr will assist). it's not "planned" but i might wake up with one??? lb dr doesn't think it will be necessary - i'm very short and more so - short waisted, he's not sure i have wiggle rm. just getting rid of the hernia i think will alleviate the pressure. ljm - thinking of ya!
-
both. i belong to 24hr fitness & use wii fit at home.
-
it's really good for your skin.... today - mental health day ... nothing might just be walking for a bit ; lb dr wants no weight lifting till my hernia repair (next wk) is healed. and here i was "this" close to jillian's (BL) arms..HA (my dreams)

same here. i am grateful for the band in allowing me a chance to get back to my former self before i let the weight to continue to pile on. i've said in other threads i will not give it 100% of the credit for my weight loss because i know the effort i made in the last 15 months. i have a few drawbacks regarding the band: 1- i have issues eating in a public setting. i'm a chit chatter & my band does not like to play nice when i'm not paying attention 100% of what i'm putting in my mouth / when & where. i also appear tighter in social settings. 2- i waste money on grocery shopping. sounds weird; but food goes bad fast in my house (it's just hubby and i & we're both banded). i'm starting to just shop for a day or 2. 3- with weight loss, i was told today that hernias might be an issue. i have had port pain for a while and was told i have one needing removal next wk. none of these are drawbacks one bit in losing the weight i needed to get off my frame. health/fitness & a bit of vanity were all included in my "quick" decision to get banded. i wish i knew a bit more going in - or found this website beforehand. you sound prepared, or at least willing to know enough about the process. you should do well.

i thought the same thing - odd texture. if i'm not using brown rice or spaghetti squash - i like soba noodles for stir frys. they are a buckwheat noodle found in most asian sections - a little goes a long way when i'm in the mood for "pasta"..

fanny - you look great; the ocean is calling my NAME!!! unsubscribing from a thread - my new favorite pastime here *question* has anyone here had a hernia repaired after banding, not part of plastics? my port pain issue turns out to be one; it's pretty big apparently, my trainer can see my port as well thru my workout tanks. i can literally put my fingers around it through my skin and "hold" it - it's that raised & now i get a "stitch feeling on the side where it is when working out or eating sometimes. i see my surgeon later on today to see what he plans - just curious before hand.... thanks.

it's not!!! the band does not go food shopping / drive you to the gym / make decent choices when out dinning...it's an aide & i give it no more credit than that. being banded in oct, i didn't get a drop of restriction till march - by then my husband who was banded with me had just about reached goal. i had only lost 25lbs. don't get me wrong - i am thrilled with the band & the results; but she does not get all the credit because i've had to put a lot of effort in for my results vs looking at DH who sees the inside of the gym once a wk. nope not bitter:wink_smile:

How to get out of the "eat what I want" Mentality
luluc replied to loridee11's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
[quote=loridee11;1111142So --- what are you tricks to get back to eating healthy? Any good/simple recipes to share? ANy mental tricks you use? Thanks in advance for your thoughts! ~Lori the saturday before nyrs - i weighed myself ... i was up a few lbs for the first time since being banded. i allowed for many indulgences (small portions - but still, foods i normally don't eat). whether popular or not - i jumped on a thread here and did the 5 day pouch test with 2 days of liquids first. when i got on the scale this AM at the gym, it's been the lowest weight i've been since i was 23. i was concerned i needed a fill & my portions were getting larger. both were taken care of just doing the pouch test. again - may not be a popular approach, but i got the results i wanted, and my eating habits back in check. -
dh is a hunter - i'll go out to the deer lease on occasion, but i don't want to know about the slaughtering (sorry sms). i just know what kind of sausage i want made out of it (jalepeno / cheese) i have longhorns on our ranch, and i've been told i can't call them pets - i do; cause they are. oh and SNT - HOOK EM''''''

i LOVE a good ribeye - DH and i bought a Huge one last wkend. never thought we could split one - rather i have a qtr & he the rest. we cut our red meat consumption by A LOT, but every now and then del friscos calls my name....that and their lobster bisque. can ya tell i'm hungry...LOL

yes, i got off the couch to have surgery - starting walking the day after wards and kept on going. i'm an ex college athlete that got heavy in my 30's after i got married - i stopped being active while eating & drinking whatever i wanted, as in the past....only this time the lbs added on each yr. i really never considered another surgery - knew i would have to workout, as i had previously to help get the weight off. i was more than ok with that. i went from walking daily to getting back in the gym, joined the couch5k program, got a trainer. i'm still doing all that except running, haven't been doing that much lately - it's on my radar..LOL. i think the restriction that the lapband provides, along with consistent exercise allows for healthy weight loss - i also find it easier to make healthier food choices after a wkout. good luck in whatever you choose.!.

leslie - you crack me up today - 3.75 mile bike 50 min trainer session - same routine as tsday (working lower half body mostly) 20 min walk treadmill

i think that's more disturbing. i generally have nothing of interest to say in those threads that people want to hear & keep to myself on those threads....of course i read them, but i did respond to this one. i made a lot of stupid posts early on and had a lot of questions - i wanted the truth, not sunshine & rainbows, if i wanted a lie i would ask my husband if my ass is smaller? really. i kindly let a sympathizer know she might need help from some that are giving straight up facts to down the road....i'm sure it went out the window.... goes to check hummmburger thread...

ccl - we talked about the unfill; that put you in a huge disadvantage in having the band work and was unnecessary. tell that to your DR. let him know you went backwards in this process - and you need him to help move you forward. withholding fills for any reason is sabotage in my mind - i joked when i was going every 3-4wks for a fill that i paid for a 10cc band and if i need 10ccs' FILL ME UP... again, joked - but was serious as well. suzanneg - i know what your saying. it takes an awful lot of discipline for me to stay under 130 & a lot of time in the gym. i'm up/down 4lbs all the time it seems; tad annoying - but i'll take it.
-
good luck slim!! tap - you need to get one of those blue lamps for your desk if you can't get out of town (they call it SAD - seasonal affective disorder). my friend back home uses one in the winter time - helps her spirits when she's over winter by dec. when in doubt mexico is offering great deals right now - trying to get hubby to change our ski plans for beach ones....

Starting the holiday detox early, anyone wanna join me?
luluc replied to Boo Boo Kitty's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i can't stand OH! i went there when i was first banded and it lasted a whole 2 days - bunch of sanctimonious individuals if you ask me. i did the pouch test to: 1 - see if i needed a fill - which i don't 2 - cut my portions down - which it did i told my dr what i was doing and he thought it was a great idea to get back to the basics being over a yr out. he thinks the worst case is to get a fill and become too tight - so this "hooey" worked in my book. anyway.....i'm still doing a protein drink a day. last night i was CRAVING a peanut butter & jelly sandwich (odd) - so i made a protein drink with soy vanilla protein/pb/tsp of raspberry jam. i gotta say it might sound gross - but was so yummy. -
agreed - kat - congrats on your new gs; hopefully your DH got his point across bbk - good luck!!! cc- drink LOTS of water; i got a tad dehydrated over the summer till i finally got an unfill - take care of yourself zpack - never took happy thursday all!!

Who has had or is going to have plastic surgery?
luluc replied to als74's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
i plan to have an upper blepharoplasty eyelid surgery in the next month or 2. going for my second consult in 3wks - my eyes need the awakening my body feels. i'm thankful the rest of me snapped back into decent shape. -
if we watching know he had WLS - the other contestants know he had WLS; he said as much....therefore it's not rigged - or they don't have to participate if they feel an unfair advantage. he still has to do the work to lose the weight to win - i think he'll just be happy to take the lbs off to consider himself a winner.
