oh brandy it's right up your alley!! i try never to discuss religion - i treat it like my lapband, it's personal and none of anybody's business. speaking of that (in pjtp mode) we had our close friends come to our ranch for the wkend. GREAT seeing them, it had been 2 months and we had a good time, even though i crashed on them early & vegg'd out most of the time. dh and i NEVER told any of our friends that we had lapband - even his family is in the dark....just my family & our trainer, that's it. my girlfriend had put on about 30lbs, looks good still & is happy not obsessed w/the added lbs. wanted to know if i was still working out etc. & i said yes. later in the evening, she tells us that a former colleague of ours (who never takes his wife anywhere because he's embarrassed of her weight) was forcing his wife to have the lapband or get a divorce. i looked big eyed at DH, and just sorta dropped it. who does that??? dh and i talked after they left last night and even at my heaviest DH NEVER said a word about the size of my ass. anyway long winded, but LJM needs something to read today:wink: i see so many posts that some don't have support of family or SO - but yet to read someone was being forced into it. WRONG, just WRONG. ok my small 2cents for the day....

that was funny:sneaky:

quiet posting wkend. ususally if you miss a day or 2 there are pages, pages.... gone - glad your up & running again! coffee - how on earth i ran out, had to dash to starbucks this am & wait in line. i hate doing that! pjtp - that i laid on the couch ALL day yesterday and got entertained a bit with the prostitution thread.....i felt like i was back in confirmation class:rolleyes::wink5: bless her heart:wink:

mindy this sounds pretty similar. i have had port tenderness for about a month or 2, which i just chalked up to heavy ab routines my trainer has put me through. i had it checked out as well - all in place, but it was found that i had a hernia right underneath it that could have been the cause of the pressure/pulling feeling i had after eating or a workout. when i went in for the hernia repair on thursday, my surgeon told me that i had a slight infection by my port sight. that would not have been found unless i had an endoscope, something fluoro won't tell you. he told me we caught it in time, infections can lead to erosion...however i'm on a round of antibiotics/anti infamatory/pain meds to clear the infection quickly before spreading. i go next tsday to see if the infection is cleared via an endoscope. i say this not to alarm, but the fluoro exam won't detect an infection. my dr recommends a scope each yr of banding for just this sort of "thing" - i've got my fingers crossed that this was caught in time. i would contact your dr to have this test done. good luck!

i have done NOTHING , but eat:rolleyes: today DH is off, so i plan to go to the gym w/him later. while he trains - i'll just walk the treadmill for as long as i can. i can't stand feeling a bit sluggish today:blushing: renewed - i don't run really like ya'll but it sounds like fatigue. i'd give the leg a rest.

kc - i wish i took it more serious. i was living w/a chef at the time and he "wanted" me to learn; i actually learned more watching him.... the ravioli came out GREAT, i made the cream sauce and added prociutto to the top and used less butter/lf ricotta....it was really decadent and i was only able to eat 3:):wink5: san diego mom - let us know how your feeling, hopefully if your still having problems today; you can go in for a slight unfill. i think that's the best route. this wkend i ate too much and not the best choices. i picked/grazed/snacked & drank wine - lots. back to being decent today...
-
no kidding - but they're out best friends, so it's easy. if i wanna go night night early i can w/out issue. yes the dog sees or hears ghosts; or i'm crazy. he gets spooked at the oddest noises; and wants you to hold him...he's 105lbs. one day i will utube it because it is HILLARIOUS. i had to take the picture frames of family off the tables because he would stare at some and cry....he has issues, again - it's pretty damn funny. have a good night all!
-
pjtp - i'm tempted to take one of my dogs xanax (he sees ghosts - ). hubby's idea of cleaning up for company is to throw everything in the closet. wish he just put crime sceen tape on it before i opened.......
-
ya know - it's very hard for me to cook, and not taste everything (have some culinary school background) - i too am cooking away today and made & tested the prosciutto ravioli. i think it's going to be a hit; very yummy - and i am doing the cream sauce. good news; i'll be able to eat 2, bad news - i'll be drinking wine:) frogstar - thanks for the recommendation!

judy, i only need one scoop of Protein Powder for 8oz of skim milk (or Water if you like) - which would be 105 calories. my shakes are sometimes meals - sometimes snack ... after i add what i want to it; they usually come to 200 or so calories; which works fine for my calories per day. jujuvee - i use one tsp of pudding mix; it can get too thick otherwise with some of them.

Should people barely over 200 lbs or below 200 get Lapband or any WLS...?
luluc replied to Froggi's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
crickpoodle - just stay out of the chat room is my best advice. i've been there MAYBE three times - nobody has anything nice to say.....so find your support outside the naysayers. who cares how much you have to lose?? your obese w/a bmi of 30, and the fact that american doctors or better yet the insurance companies prefer you to get fatter & develop comorbidities is a $%^&*! SHAME. your money, your body, your decision. there are MANY on this board that go to Mexico for the lapband, so critizing those doctors is pretty sad, considering many of them have taugh US drs how to do the lapband surgery. low bmi patients are NOT a strain on the insuarance companies in approving WLS for others who are MO or SMO, and to blame many of us that are in that category is dispicable. would LOVE many of them in your "chat rm" discussion to join this thread - now that would be FUN!!! -
fantastic news - congrats CC!

how old are they? i have no kids and when i have my nieces visit (3,6,9) they are INSANE.....i let them have mountain dew & candy before handing them back over to my brother. small payback & i'm sure that's a fun flight back to FL.. this posting page is starting to clog my tivo. i'm a recording fool - just got caught up on nip-tuck/true blood while vegging today. damages??? worth adding i take it??
-
yes that's a fair statement, i had discomfort for the first few wks (tender). you should have your followup appt here shortly, and by then if it's still bothering you let your dr know. good luck w/your band!
-
i had the exact symptoms - it was a pulling feeling & hard to describe. the pain wasn't earth shattering; but i was uncomfortable, and that pulling feeling was there after a workout or eating.. get your dr to check it out - soon!
-
personally, i don't think port pain should be ignored. i too thought my protruding port and the pain was due to a lot of ab work & losing weight around my waist. no - i had a hernia, which was repaired yesterday and it was determined i had an infection at my port site. left untreated can lead to erosion. i'm on lots of antibiotics/anti-inflamatory/and pain meds. don't self diagnose any pain is my best advice.

Will insurance pay for fills and not WLS?
luluc replied to work_in_progress's topic in Insurance & Financing
my insurance at the time of surgery (BCBS) did not cover my surgery - due to low bmi, not because they didn't cover WLS. i now have united health care and they pay 100% of aftercare for my band; including fills/unfills. i'm not sure about the billing; all i know is i just have my co-pay ($10) fee. -

i actually did write about this, not sure this thread or not. i had a MO obese woman, who was hrs late for her fill appt when they canceled on her tell me i should give her my appt because i had no business being there getting one. my facial expression alone told her how i felt. i really keep to myself in my dr's office, i've never chatted w/someone but you can tell the up/downs are going on. i was in on tsday getting a small unfill; my surgeon tells me i'm good advertising for his waiting room. i really could care less who guesses why i'm there/how much i lost; i was obese - had surgery - lost weight. not much else to comment on. -
hey whosya!!! been a while, missed ya!!! wed - nothing thurs - hernia repair today - baby step walks up / down the driveway; i hope this heals fast - i don't want to let exercise slide have a good wkend!!
-
oh i'm sorry - didn't mean to torture, kc and i have just played around w/the wonton wrappers (much less calories than regular pasta) making different kinds of ravioli. i'm planning on making the sauce like the turkey/cranberry recp called for - going to try and make it a bit more calorie friendly...though i'll only be able to get maybe 3 down. yesterday - pretty much all liquids; smoothies/protein drinks. had a hernia repair and couldn't eat in the am, then in the evening didn't feel so hot. today there are a bunch of Snacks i'm picking on:rolleyes:

she - my neighbor is acres, acres away and he bitches about my dogs doing their business in his cow pasture - like their contaminating it. he is beyond annoying. snow days - had to snow for schools to close. ljm - i'm very glad you got a date & hope the lil' bean plays nice allowing you that time...hospital neighbors - ugh, i would have a hard time getting any rest. beth - interesting point in the "bible" ; i'm not going to let any odd feelings go by w/out having it checked out. brandy - how much fun planning a wedding. i myself and dh eloped to vegas; it was a blast! it's a way quiet friday!
-
yes - loads, anti - inflam, and the pretty ones that make you feel nothing below the waist (hernia repair). dh gets to deal w/everything and i get to lay in bed / laptop & goofieness. fb - no family; other than my brothers. i have just ignored other requests - my place, not theirs to be nosy.

i'm always paranoid about this band - and blamed hard ab routines by my trainer for a bit. it's easy to "avoid" or come here and find great medical advise...... i might be a fun poster as these happy pills have me all warm & toasty. if my spelling sux sorry.!.
