champagne - i love a good champagne & have tried several times...i just get a sharp pain in the left shoulder & burp all day. small price to pay:wink:

i had port tenderness & some pain after i ate. i ignored it for a few wks, thinking it was heavy ab exercises my trainer was putting me through. i decided not to play dr & have my surgeon run some tests. it was revealed i had a hernia, which when he was removing noticed a small infection at the port site.....hernia was right under the port. caught it before it could do any damage (likely erosion if left untreated). i was self pay for my band (BMI too low), but my insurance covers everything now (including fills) minus my copay.

eating oatmeal/bread/pizza might be restricted foods for you - but not many here. in fact quiet a FEW eat oatmeal daily (me - can't stand it), however i eat whole grain bread regularly. the OP should try the pouch test - i did it and it was a great way to get back on track after the holidays; but i'm not sure a heavy hand telling her what she shouldn't be eating when it may not be a dietary restriction is the best approach here in MO. i was denied insurance approval and went self pay - not angry in the least w/the OP. a meeting w/a dietitian, regular appts w/her doctor, local support groups, LBT would however be worthwhile.

that story was the first thing that came to mind as well. i developed a hernia & port site infection 15 months post op. hernia was repaired & i was on heavy antibiotics to fight the infection. yesterday i had an endoscope that determined my infection was caught in time & healed. there is risk anytime you go under - either for lapband or dental surgery. you have to decide for yourself if that risk is greater than remaining overweight for a lifetime.

biker babe??:cursing: hopefully it's something that will heal on it's own over time/rest.

snacking is just easy - cause those chips/ice cream/cookies/etc just go down w/out a fight. i limit the snacks (husband also banded) in the house and temptation is gone. he's a night snacker & i make sure he has fruits/veggies/nuts to munch on - more so than chips; he has a "crunch" thing. what helps me is to be a bit prepared of foods in the house & on sundays while the house is quiet - i'll pre make meals for the wk. if i don't plan - i veer off course and make not so hot choices w/food.

you should have gone to your appt, you likely did need a fill. my surgeon told me at my 1 month post op appointment that the patients who he saw on a regular basis were likely to be more successful than those who thought they can do it on their own, or were too embarrassed by the slow weight loss. he/she are there to help you be successful, if we could have done it on our own - we might not have needed banding in the first place. use your dr to your advantage. tell him/her your frustrations / difficulties. diet / exercise are important - but seeing your doc on a regular basis is just as. call & make an appt is my suggestion. good luck!

i wonder the same?? be interesting to see the partners get weighed next wk. dan looked good, still has a bunch more to lose - i'd be interested in the friendship between the boys now; as it appears one is into it & the other not so much.

i admire you jacqui pushing yourself like that - unfortunately i need my trainer to do that to me ..... our gym's prices are going up and it's becoming a budget buster. our trainer is opening up a sports rehab clinic in april - and DH and i decided to finish out our purchased sessions then pay him directly (vs gym) to train us at the house. it will be half the cost & i really can't give him up just yet:tongue: got clearance to workout - nothing more than 10lbs for a month. today - wii yoga...snow/ice out, will try to get to gym w/hubby later in the day for cardio
-

i'm here southern missy good for you & your daughter!!!! the pouch test was a great jump start, i ended up getting a small unfill when i thought i needed a fill..... all the BEST!!!!! i'm cheering for ya...... thanks BBK for starting this thread! -
i've not heard of coughing causing any problems - but vomiting can. my dr has his patients keep a script of phenegran on hand for just that purpose.
-
i have confirmed the fact that i gained weight in the first place by not being active. i hate not exercising & i've been snacking:eek: i go tomorrow for my endoscope to see if my port infection is cleared & to beg my dr let me workout again after fixing the hernia....i'm bored w/wii golf & tennis at this point:wink:

Has anybody on here had their band for 2-3 years?
luluc replied to ShelleyB's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
congrats on your surgery approval! there are quite a few on here that have been banded 2+yrs w/great success. so far you 've gotten great advice, good luck to you! -
i had no pre-op, all the weight loss came after band placement. it's a personal choice, i would likely list pre-op weight as well. i thought about the license plate yesterday, but i tell you it was FAST. as soon as we pulled up to the car, the "lady" opened up to pull on her "lg white thong" and the guy jumped to the front seat and they peeled out. it was a total hookup / affair the more we think of it. oh that prostitution thread, just goes off topic it's no longer enjoyable. happy monday!!
