that's more like my friend. her only way of showing expression is her eyes get bigger. her forehead "can't" move.....she's all about the wrinkles, yet sits in a tanning bed a few times a wk; told her to cut bangs vs shots.

Low BMI desperately seeking surgeon
luluc replied to middlegirl's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
restless - it's not considered malpractice here in the states either. in fact - many surgeons are finding much more success in banding lower bmi patients - which is why many more clinical trials are in place....when ins. doesn't want to cough up the dough. i don't advertise my surgeon because that's his practice's job - he's an aussie trained surgeon....only the US has these bogus bmi guidelines...if your bmi is 30 and considered obese, then WLS should be an option. i hope you find a quality surgeon middlegirl! -
teaser!!! do tell. kat - glad your daughter is OK!!!! saturday night - and we got no plans!!! well DH is cooking, and i'm starving - glad it's a big old steak (sorry sms)..... happy wkend all!!!

Low BMI desperately seeking surgeon
luluc replied to middlegirl's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
hard to make a case for malpractice when a bariatric surgeon performs WLS on an obese person.....bmi of 30 puts you in that category. while insurance companies may have their own specific guidelines for approval that might require a higher BMI, that's not to say it's a dead end....certainly if your self pay. they're are many dr's who prefer to stop the bleeding early rather than later..... poke around a bit more, you should be able to find a fine surgeon to meet your needs. -
i eat sushi wkly. spicy tuna roll is my favorite & while i have to go slow (sticky rice can be a problem at times) - i don't have to worry about my food getting cold. personally i like all rolls - i have had my sushi chef make me rolls out of cucumber which is a nice change up to the rice.. i see no reason you can't enjoy again!

Anyone else drinking while eaing?
luluc replied to klutzyazhel's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
this may / may not be an issue for some. i struggle to get calories & Fluid in based off my activity. can't say i'm more hungry after a wkout because i drank so much Water before or i'm just hungry. again it's still calories in / calories out...... the question is more stretching of the pouch - not sure that having a sip w/a meal can proove that. as i mentioned if it's a discomfort - understand. if it's not???? what harm? -

luluc replied to klutzyazhel's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
these "rules" are not in place as a standard amongst the lapband surgical community - therefore they are guidelines. follow your dr's suggestions .... lest not think that some can't be successful doing different than those with opposite "guidelines". -
donna - you crack me up! DH is constantly boob'a fied....meaning he never passes up on a good set & those that want to share:)

Anyone else drinking while eaing?
luluc replied to klutzyazhel's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
that has been my biggest pet peeve as far as "rules" here go, because the times before/after when one can start & stop are beyond random. can it stretch / can it rebound??? why does one have to wait an hr & another 15mins. if it's uncomfortable - i get that; but i'm not restricted to the point i can't have a meal & a few sips of water/wine/tea with my meals....nor do i want to be. so the pouch stretches some- isn't it still calories in - calories out?? that's been my motto here; the band has controlled my volume of food.... i still can't wrap my head around the fact that a few sips of drink during a meal will mess w/it.....thankfully my surgeon doesn't either. -
Anyone else drinking while eaing?
luluc replied to klutzyazhel's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
just curious - i certainly take this board as support & fun; it's not part of my medical team - nor would i include it in such. if you say a pouch can stretch - can't it rebound/shrink by going to liquids for a period of time - say the 5 day pouch test.?. just being devils advocate here. i have consistently struggled w/the no drinking rule if my caloric intake & exercise keep me in check. i can't get IN enough fluids most days......so my surgeon says drink away; i do have my band checked monthly - it's still the same as it was in the beginning. -

luluc replied to klutzyazhel's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
does it hurt or you just following directions? i've yet to read clinical data prooving that drinking a sip here/there stretches your "pouch" while eating. and does 15mins really protect the pouch from stretching?? too many guidelines to make this a hardline. i sip while eating; no stretching 16 months out. -
hip poses - i got lots of hip to throw out...LOL i thought 125lbs was a LOT of weight - till i hit 200lb. i had a warped sense of body image.....not that i want to wear a belly shirt - but w/40 around the corner; i'm more comfortable in my skin now, than i was @30. i am more inclined to show my curves now than i was before i gained weight....a few good undergarment pieces don't hurt either.:sneaky:

i prefer taller men - not sure i've dated anyone under 6' - DH i know prefers petite women.

thanks for posting these - i hadn't seen any of them, well i actually wasn't looking either. does she not realize that her kids will look like her before "shots"..???? the only reason the PS is an issue is because she chose to screw w/her face rather than have a nest egg for her children & now the good citizens of the state of CA get to pick up her medical tab. too much to read through in the past pages - but i get patty wouldn't have a problem with her daughter getting PS, living at home with her child - should a windfall happen. that's fine in her home, but not fine on the back of tax payers. patty, this in response to your statement my answers in blue: *there isn't anyone here who can't relate to her or anyone else in the world in some way. there is absolutely NOTHING i can relate to about this woman *Who has never taken a dime from ANY form of assistance? never a dime. moved out of my parents home with luggage as a graduation gift @18 - never went back. no student loans, no state/fed gov assitance - nothing. worked my way through grad school - able to retire @ age 36. now back in school pt (law), and am wking pt in my prior field. the only financial gifts i was given were wedding presents. *Who has never spent money on something they wanted instead of something they needed. i did - wanted a pair of shoes over a steak diner - still didn't have a mouth to feed other than mine. *Who has children without a father? i wouldn't - i didn't grow up w/out a father....but life happens, you don't intentionally pursue that life *Who has never lived with their parents after they turned 18 and should have been supporting themselves. NOPE - not me, not ever *Who has never put things on hold and/or had to depend on someone else to help them till they finish their education. not me - was self reliant at any early age, went w/out certain luxuries while working FT & going to grad school at night. didn't have a mouth to feed, otherwise school might not have been an option. *Which one of you have never made a stupid choice or decision in life? yep i have - wasn't aresponsible for another life other than my own regarding said choice. *Who has never accepted charity? me Who has never done something that turned out to be far more complicating then you thought it would be? i have - again, wasn't responsible for another life these assertions really annoyed me yesterday when i read them. there are people out "there/here" who really can't just relate to this woman - do we want ill regard to her children??? absolutely not - she however is not a suitable parent & i hope they are taken from her and put in proper homes. going through IVF is devastating & financially crippling to some - she's made nothing more of a mockery of this. ok - off rant.
