Off topic. . Can we talk about Kirstie Alley?

there is NO way she is 210lbs. i was 200lbs at the time i was banded and at barely 5'1.....the pictures i saw of myself then vs what she is claiming is night and day. meaning, i did not look as lg as her. hope she can find something that works permanently, long term.
  2. early on - i really limited my carbs and i'm not sure if that's why i was a slow loser in the beginning or i was just lucky:rolleyes: i try to cook as many meals possible on sundays & have my house fully stocked w/good Snacks, fruits & veggies to pick on. i found if it's not in the house - i don't eat the crap (husband is also banded). till this day i still eat off a salad plate, it more than holds all i need to eat to keep me satisfied..... i really eat what i'm in the mood for these days - for example: breakfast - WW toast w/cream cheese & smoked salmon / tomato, hummus & veggies, organic waffle w/peanut butter, greek yogurt w/fiber one Cereal, veggie black bean burger w/pico de gallo.....etc. lunch - egg/chicken salad in lettuce cups, sushi, Soups such as lentil / white bean chili, salads. diner - i like to have some type of Protein w/veggies & carbs (good ones) or a salad loaded w/all the "good stuff"....i do splurge & have Pasta & mexican food occassionally. snacks - cheese, edamame, nuts, greek yogurt, fruit. i exercise 5 days a wk - some days harder than others & i've realized on the hard days ... i will eat more.
  3. yesterday - b- WW strawberry yogurt w/handful of fiber one cereal s- ostrich jerky stick l- 1 chicken quesadilla roll s- slice of swiss, grilled watermelon 2 slices d- chicken pot pie - homemade, approx 1c worth in size

8cc in band with no restriction

it took me from oct '07 to end of mar '08 to get restriction, and that creeping up brought me to 8.5cc's in a 10cc band. some need more than others....i'm maintaining now and still have a high fill level of 7.2cc's. your best to take it slow rather than rush to restriction - there are a few complications that can arise trying to get there fast.... good luck!

i thought the SAME thing when i looked at the time taps/slim posted. i got up that time, have a dog in kidney failure ---- so she needs taken out often. but i went back to bed, and just now getting coffee in.. morning all -!!!
  13. yesterday - b- 4 chicken pot stickers l- sm. cup tortialla soup s- bowl of edamame d- 1 mozz cheese stick, small bowl of pasta / sausage & pepers w/sauce
  14. i do get what your saying - but you can't attribute why you were / got fat to the rest of us......experiences / bodies are just different. ie your comment regarding thyroid.....my husband has a problem with his and he's done quite well with his band, so maybe generalizing is what some might take issue with. i was not an emotional eater, i did not indulge in sweets / fast food. i like good food/wine & lg quantities. this billboard did not bother me in the least - the poster after you was quite nasty to the OP and that was just not called for.

    BMI 32 / 60 lbs ...

i'm shorter than you - barely 5'1, and was 195 the morning of surgery. i have arthritis (spinal) and that was my only issue going into this, and the more i weighed the worse it became just to do the daily gig. won't lie , vanity played into this - i was a college athelete - tomboy and i never cared so much how i looked ....... till it got out of hand. and my sporty body turned into mush. if your dr and surgeon are on board - i say go for it!!!

    Port Position

band groupie - while you were able to pick your port position - it may not stay there. my port was a bit below to the left of my belly button - it's now 4 inches higher and is right in the way of my sports bra. as a short waisted person * and i say that meaning i can take my hand put my thumb under my breasts and my pinkie touches my belly button.* it's an anatomy problem w/the port according to my dr that happens w/many short / and short waisted individuals. while you lose weight the port changes position in some. and going on 1.5yrs it's never been comfortable - it's exposed * i just deal.

    Port Position

YES -! i'm short as well 5'1 & even w/a low profile port.....it's STILL an annoyance several months out. i joke to my dr that i want it re-positioned to my butt since that's the last holding spot for weight...while he laughed it's a no go.

    BMI 32 / 60 lbs ...

me either... aliveandwell, i realized you directed your question to jachut - and she's a great resource here....but from my own experience, the chat rm here is not worth going to. too many feel they have the right to determine how others should manage their weight issue...sooner/rather than later is my view. there are other great resources here, and the chat in MO is not one of them. low BMI patients do quite well & i suspect you will also.

Why "Chew To Liquid" is Absurd

what is bothersome to me, is the drive by posting. a thread topic is created & then left - not just by this dr, but others on the forum as well will cut/copy/paste a subject - leave it out for debate & never return themselves. there are quite a few drs here, dr schulman specifically on the plastic surgery forum - who is quite engaging, informative & provides us with knowledge when going in for a consult. there is also dr curry, who pops in and joins conversations & answers questions. i don't come to the site for medical / nutritional advice, that's what i pay my dr for. support (in the form of comradere only) & entertainment is why i participate. back to topic - i was never told to chew to a liquid; do i see many say that's what you have to do here - YES. i find liquid steak quite disgusting.

beth - check out your local tractor supply stores as well. here in TX they have mobile vets come to do half cost vaccinations at different locations each saturday. i've not used them, but i know a LOT who do. living in the country the cost of my vet is literally half of what my brother pays in dallas.....so he comes out to me w/his 2 dogs. DH says his paycheck goes to the vet, w/5 and one w/kidney failure the cost is just insane....but we have no kids. g4e - there is NOTHING wrong with turning in a dog that does not suit your home.....i would just find a no kill shelter. DH ever wk says i need to find a home for our heeler, but deep down he loves her and i've never made the effort - because i rescued her from getting that long night sleep...
