i have done it twice. once after christmas - too much holiday goodies & i had gained a few, and another time during a plateau. you will lose weight - but i found it more to control bad eating habits & to determine if i needed a fill. each time i had good results, lost a few, regained better eating habits, and realized no need for a fill. there is a link here for the test...

morning all~ think i got caught up on the thread... glouc - nothing wrong w/a vegas wedding, DH and i eloped there several yrs ago. it was so funny we still laugh about it (not formal at all - perfect for us). g4e - glad your ex is able to assist you ebony - hope you hear something today re- job; great way to start the wkend! taps - i am the same way w/homes, i can't look at them again. DH and i have owned 2 others previously and did a lot of work outside (fences/retaining walls/flower beds/trees). he went back to our first one and said that it looks great, can tell they put a new roof on, plantation shutters, the second (my favorite) they had let the yard go. i would feel compelled to knock on the door and hand them a shovel/rake...LOL well my coffee had to go on ice today. 8:30am 96 degrees, and the air downstairs seems not to be putting out as strong - i see a replacement in our future, but right now i'm not in the mood for another maintenance bill.

actually i am talking about TX. while i've never spent time in houston - i have lived in north TX (dfw) for close to 15yrs. i'm amazed at how easily certain words are used - even in professional life. i was in a traffic incident a few yrs back - i bumped another persons bumper. man (black) was irate w/me, i get it - i caused damage....but that's why i have insurance. i get out call 911 - get my necessary paperwork......man still freaking out. i finally told him to chill the f^*k out, i got it covered. by then other cars have pulled over - cops show up and see us two yelling at one another. guess who got thrown in the police car? black guy. white police officer told me "i can tell by your accent your not from these parts - you'll learn soon enough, you'll never be at fault if your white". that was a dallas police officer. is this an everyday occurance - have no idea.....i'm going with yes, just again based off my experience.

cheek swab first for an 8/8 match (still learning) - then blood testing once confirmed a suitable match. swab is being done tomorrow. rennovations are just TIRESOME, we are in yr 2 of our's and i was hoping some gremlins would have come in while we were gone and finnished my kitchen. no such luck - still have a busted out wall that separated the kitchen/dining (making one big kitchen) & some poorly done sheet rock that needs to be redone. making my list before i call contractor in the AM, pretty sure he took a vacation from me....LOL

yep - agreed....my mom still won't get off that soap box (big hillary fan) i leave for a bit and a great thread finally pops up. racism is alive and well in the good ol' us of a and i never seeing it leaving - really. i was raised in the northeast - NY, been in TX way too long it seems , but i never - EVER heard the remarks about race / gender / ethnicity till i moved below the mason dixon line. sorry if i offend here - but that's my experience. to the OP, and this might not be popular as well - but i would have moved from you as well. not based on your race, weight, hair color - but because if there is an open seat w/no one near me on any kind of public transportation...i'm taking that open seat vs sitting right next to someone else. like the movie theater - why on earth in a huge theater does someone need to see right next to me when there are other vacant seats.???. i'm not an overly sensitive person, nor black, nor overweight any longer - my radar isn't up on others peoples behaviours......i just try to do as mom says, judge the content, not the pretty cover.

*slinking back in too glouc* been on vacation - prior had been spinning 3x a wk, and weight training twice. i start up boot camp weight training sat morning and hope my 10 day slacker time doesn't kill me. i puposely left my running shoes home, but did get a lot of walks in, rock climbing & too many tube rides along the river. good/bad news - my band did not place nice, i struggled each day with food....but did lose 5.8lbs. i'm sure they'll find their rightful place now that i'm home and food is all i want and can have. back to spinning in the am.

hey all - back from trip a few days earlier to get tested tomorrow for our friend who has bone marrow cancer. all 3 of his siblings weren't matches so his wife set up screenings for us friends tomorrow am. sure hope my indulgence of "adult beverages" doesn't compromise things. no biggie, while i was having a blast from reality - it's good to be home & my doggies are just a bit estatic. going back to catch up on ya'll - re basements, none that i know of in TX. we have wood floors upstairs, textured heated concrete/tile downstairs. would love a cold basement about now - 6pm & 104 degrees.

hey all - well i had some downtime while DH had to handle some emails & found the internet cafe' and am having a glass of wine before diner:) got to do a quick breeze - so drive by post: *susan - sorry about your friend, very sad - thoughts w/you & the family's loved ones *taps is back! *ebony - great news on interviews....hope it all goes well *colorado chick - got caught up on facebook, awesome news about mom~ *g4e - hope disability will be afforded to you w/out complications i have no idea when i'm coming home, DH lets me know what's going on in stages. we are doing a road trip around TX.......for those on FB, your able to catch up some w/my goofy pics & commentary.....and many frosty beverages. it's 105 degrees right now, and the good news the band is working great countering those frosty beverages w/being able to eat little. try to catch up when i land again...

good luck ladies (ebony/beth) on today's interviews - i see the nekkid dances have been ordered up for ya:) so mystery vacation starts today and it's a road trip. i know because DH took my hummer this AM to get detailed and i've looked all over for plane tickets.....yep i snooped. 3yrs ago hubby and i flew to seattle and for 2wks drove down the PCH down to san diego - never really knowing what we were doing each day. my favorite trip so far - so i have no idea where we're going, but i'm guessing my blackberry storm will work, and i can read LBT on the road & take pics for FB. see ya:)

Only eating "easy passing foods": ice cream, yogurt, pudding ect...
luluc replied to CorvetteFerrari's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
i'm not sure what it's called, but i read once that if you could get ice cream down and "slider" foods....you could do a protein drink or fruit/protein smoothie. when tight, that's what i go to - but it sounds like an unfill was what you did need. -
good, you'll feel relief very soon!
-
i think staying away from white carbs / processed carbs is a good idea - but i too didn't do so hot adhearing to a heavy protein based diet early on. once i incorporated good carbs into the diet, i lost more regularly.

Lap Band Easy on the Pocketbook?
luluc replied to TopTier's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
yes makes sense. if not at whole foods, i hit my favorite sushi bar and get slabs of tuna/salmon & shell fish. a bag of raw almonds - double the price of chips, same with getting fresh fruit vs a bag of Cookies.....so i have found. -
lentis are a great source of protein & very filling. right now i'm making a chicken tortialla soup w/avocado & habaneros.... google lentils - there are a many good recps... it's one of my go to's and always have a batch frozen.

dual action pepcid complete helped out my acid reflux/heartburn till i got an unfill really well!

Lap Band Easy on the Pocketbook?
luluc replied to TopTier's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i am self pay as well & my husband is also banded - it is just the 2 of us. i had wondered the same thing & have decided it's a draw. we use to spend a LOT of money going out to eat - when we do so now the portion size is half & he gets a meal or 2 after the fact ( i'm not so big on leftovers ). food shopping - it's more. that's because i'm buying much more fresh fruits / veggies / fish / that cost more than say going down the aisles at the market & getting processed stuff. since you plan on doing it anyway, good luck to ya~ -
My love affair with wine.
luluc replied to genetic_gem's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i had a LONG talk w/my surgeon regarding wine pre-op. i was willing to let go of a lot of things but i enjoyed my wine & didn't feel i had to give it up. he agreed - of course with moderation. i have a glass about every other night - on wkends sometimes more. i treat it like some do cake / Cookies (which i have no appetite for pre/post band) - it's my "desert" calories. on days i want more, i try to exercise a bit longer......otherwise once your healed, i see no problem. -
I am overweight!! Woo-hoo! :)

good luck beth/ebony on the interviews!!! i'm excited for a secret trip - DH is not one to do "proper gifts" on the exact days (ie - xmas/bday) & i turn 40 in 3wks, so i have no idea what to expect. ok gross pjtp - walking out of the gym this AM, had water bottle in hand, "gulped" some down & forgot that i had a band. it spewed from my mouth , nose & eyes if possible. such a classy move.
