regrets about lapband choice?
luluc replied to pixierainbow's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
wasa - didn't you have a timeline of banded persons & their feelings / experiences? i like my band but i have to work it daily & i know it's there ALL the time. my port is / has been exposed, infected & sore since it went in oct '07. i have a "turkey done look" all the time, better than fat....i KNOW. i don't see it's longevity in me - i was a blind WLS patient going in.....much more informed now, if something does go wrong i will not hesitate to remedy. would i do it again, knowing what i know now - probably not. -
that would be the wallet ..... slim - i'd have to hit my mom up also for pics of the 80's. oh the hair mess i had !!!:smile2:

LOLOLOL so for this whole time i thought i held up well (loose skin wise) till DH tells me the girls are looking like deflated water balloons. quick snap of my head in cybil fashion caught his A$$, and said well they look good for cougar boobies. i then went shopping...............................

ah the bounce. i float between 124-130 on any given day - pms, sodium, not enough cardio, planets not aligned properly????, too much wine, interrupted sleep???? got annoying trying to figure it out - i get on the scale now once every other wk. i KNOW if i have a margarita, the scale will show it. i KNOW if i do a spin class, plus hit the treadmill - the scale will show it. so long as the clothes don't get snug, i'm trying to avoid the number.....especially since my dr says i'm good to go with my body fat %. would i like to be 115??? probably so - but i just did botox on the face, trying to fight mother nature, i say the extra 10lbs is keeping the face a bit more "young".......so i tell myself :smile2::tongue: and then there is the hubby factor - prefers a booty (THANK GOD) - tells me daily don't lose another lb, so there ya have it.

great program c5k - i did it a yr ago & have since realized that running is not my gig. *hate it* all the best!
-
:smile2: sat - weight training boot camp sunday - nothing monday - 30min walk w/dogs & 33 laps in pool. we have a sport court pool and it's not olympic length by any means. no idea what the distance was. today - spin class

* beth, it will be murphy's law you get called about a job when on vacation * plain, HA - will be 22+18 next wk. my family had a early surprise party for me this past wkend - thanks, taps too! * slim, we are the same height. just can't imagine being 110lbs - but i have a curvy / sporty body - not a petite frame. my surgeon told me i would do well to get to 140lbs. he state his experience was woman 35+ have a hard time getting to the lower end of the recommended BMI scale. at first this pissed me off - he had no idea that i would workout hard/eat well and beat the odds. frankly, he's right. it's a struggle to stay below 130lbs IF i want to eat / drink what i want - and that is how i want to live. if me being 10lbs over what i should be - so be it, my clothes fit well, i'm in a bathing suit everyday and not the least bit insecure like i was at this weight when i was in my 20's. only you are going to know what you should weigh when you get there. * can't imagine a newfie in TX heat. plain my dogs roam at night too - summer time. i leave the kennel gate open if they want to crash - but during the day, on the cold tile under a ceiling fan and they don't MOVE.
-
oooh, those taste like cardboard - i like sesame myself. yesterday - b- slice of ciabatta toast w/hummus & cucumbers l- small caprese salad (my new summer favorite!), slice of cantelope d- few bites of guac & chips, small tortialla soup, margarita s- snickers ice cream bar :smile2:
-
that makes NO sense.!. my body, my band, my health - i deserve to know all specifics about what is inside me. medically speaking, your entitled to that info....i get some surgeons don't want us to get hung up on the # - but this band experience is all about the number, otherwise i wouldn't need a scale. i also have a 10cc band, and i needed 8.5ccs to get any kind of restriction....heck i'm at 7.2ccs maintaining. i joked to my dr that i paid for a 10cc band (self pay) and if i need 10ccs to make it work - filler up!

Seeking Tips for surviving long drive (NY-FL)
luluc replied to nfl1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
nfl - we were tight during the day. no idea why because we were relaxed & had no agenda. we had tried 3 or 4 times to get lunch out and looked like idiots not able to get a small cup of chowder or Soup down after an hr. once we "landed" for the evening and stay a day or two we were fine. able to eat decently - i've never been on vacation where i lost weight like this one:wink: no idea almost 2yrs out when the band wants to be finicky or not??? re- road trip, once you get into TN, there are so many great stops, quaint towns. if you can grab a day in savannah, ga - do it......one of my favorite southern towns. -
Seeking Tips for surviving long drive (NY-FL)
luluc replied to nfl1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i just went on a wk long road trip w/my husband (also banded). while we had diner out most nights - we had 2 coolers with the following for breakfast/lunch: bottled Water fresh fruit cut veggies (cucumbers/carrots) raw nuts Jerky (turkey) few muscle milk Protein shakes (never used though) greek yogurt (5oz cups) granola & trail mix (i had made ahead) sargento cheese sticks we actually came home with half of what we packed - eating was a bit difficult for us.....unfortunately the adult beverages and fruity drinks weren't. have a good trip! btw - i'm from NY and parents now live in FL .... i know that road trip well:) -
nope - no more surprises so far other than presents ... i'm good w/that:) kat - my credit score went down quite a bit when i stopped working ; went to cash/stopped using credit cards ; paid off all the trucks & farm equipment. thankfully is doesn't suck too much & combined w/DH - we're all good; but i get so PISSED that because i carry no debt other than the ranch mtg i am penalized because i don't carry 10 cc's and run them up each month. just my serious pet peeve. fanny - house situation....dh an i have only used one realtor since we've been together, each time we went house hunting, we had to proove that our financial stability/approval/ had already been met, before we were shown the properties we wanted to view. i know that doesn't happen often, if at all - maybe you can let your realtor know, not to show your home till that criteria was met???? just a thought. snakes - um NO! i learned the hard way of turning my workboots upside down before popping them on. g4e - hope you get some satisfaction/relief from your dr today. i was going to tell you on FB last night to have a glass of wine & hot bath..... ebony/beth - hope you both hear from the job search here soon. monday - family gone, love the visit - like the quiet as well:wink:
-
i love spinning! took me forever to find a cardio activity that i enjoyed and looked forward to - spinning is it! i go 3X a wk.
-
i will have a glass every now/then - but my husband drinks it by the gallon each day. i make sun tea. i have a really old glass decanter (was dh's grandmothers) - can only use Luzianne Tea Bags (3 of them) with one lemon cut in slices (not squeezed). i let that sit 6/7hrs in the sun and depending on how strong you like it you can use more/less bags and more/less sun time.....this is hubby's recp, took me a while to get it down right:blink: for sweetner we've gone to truvia lately vs splenda. i actually like this natural sweetner, and will drink more tea on a hot day than i have in the past.
-
yes kc - which is why i keep ostrich jerky / raw nuts in my gym bag....if i can't get home right away to make lunch, i have found one of those 2 very easy to eat (good snack). i've had trouble w/milky shakes afterwards. yesteday - b- slice of ciabatta toast w/hummus & pickled pepers l- cantelope & kiwi - about a cup d- half stuffed sirlion burger (w/basil & mozzerella) w/pesto sauce, and a small caprese salad, glass of cabernet
-
taps - you don't know the half of our "odd" vows... but we did elope to vegas & the guy who married us was quite entertaining...LOL i'm not a fan of surprises at all, this was all my parents pay back for refusing to have a sweet 16, graduation from hs/college parties, nor wedding. i'm the only girl and wanted to get married in jeans & flip flops vs that white gown (who looks good in white???).... so this is getting even in my mind:wink: thanks slim,
-
i am so glad i checked in this am....this sounds so good, and i need something easy to make for brunch today.!! thanks! yesterday - b- banana/chocolate vivanno l- small cup of chili w/sour cream & tortialls d- bbq chicken leg / cucumber salad / few glasses of chardonay
-
happy dad's day ceradad/plain (other dad's reading..) was hoping to pop in this am and see an update from ebony. hopefully she's out celebrating this wkend!!! went to younger brothers house for a BBQ yesterday, and it was a small surprise bday (40 - not yet though:tt2:) party - close friends and my parents flew in from FL. hubby is lucky he didn't plan, as we had it written in our vows that we will not plan any kind of surpise parties for each other.... doing coffee fast to get to the farmers market to make a "unplanned" brunch for dad's day when they all show up here shortly and hit the pool -.... suppose to be a scorcher. have a good sunday all... ps - beth no pics on fb on the roller blading???

Scared to death about excess skin!
luluc replied to Stawberry's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
ah jachut - i bit the bullet, and have had 2 botox trips in the last month (both different areas of the eyes - was too scared to to them both the first time). i turn 40 in a few days and i will say the eyes have been the biggest area of concern lately - reason for a "tweek". not being overweight but 4yrs and having no kids - my body rebounded nicely & fine after 70lbs gone. i do plan on some lipo in the fall on my outter thighs & butt, but i think i had issues w/those areas in my 20's & the weight i am now. i am short - claim 5'1, i would love long lean legs - but that's just not going to happen..... boobs, well mother nature is a rotten person, but nothing a good bra can't hoist (34d's). -
pjtp - went to get tested for bone marrow today & we found out that there were 5 men in the metroplex that a perfect matches for our friend. the hospital is contacting them now, and he looks to get his transplant here in the next 3 wks....
-
heartfire - i would LOVE a great pyranees! but as it is i have an old diabetic golden that's on insulin shots twice a day and a 17yr old long hair chi that is blind/deaf....along w/2 others that are toddlers on steroids. just think i need to let the older dogs have their remaining days in somewhat peace before i go introduce another dog to the picture. that said - they are great w/kids, the ones i know of. 2 ranchers near us have them for goat herding and they are very protective. i would give a shot, and most importantly check the demeanor between it and your dog. i have 2 alpha females and that's been a troublesome time getting them to play along. i've had to throw a pot of hot coffee on them to break up a girl spat as DH puts it. good luck!

Banded between 200lb - 210lb
luluc replied to nano's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i was banded in oct '07. pre-op the afternoon before i was my highest yet - 200lbs and the morning of 195lbs... this morning i weigh 124lbs - but i really float between 125-130lbs.....have been maintaining almost as long as it took to lose the weight. -
i have seen the muscle milk light & regular (cookies / creame) at my 24hr fitness.....i think they are a bit more pricier there. honestly - this is my favorite Protein drink. my grocery store (tom thumb) started carrying the pre-made shakes in banana cream & chocolate mint. i made a smoothie for my husband this morning (he's also banded): 1 muscle milk banana cream 1/4c fresh squeezed oj 6 frozen mangos (act as ice cubes) he has trouble eating in the morning and he called from the road saying he wants this every am. i also froze the chocolate mint one - and it's his "ice cream".... hey KC!!!!
