* beth, DH had a corvette for yrs - he sold it when we moved to the country because our driveway is a dirt road essentially....have fun in OC, use to spend my summers there as a kid - is phillips restaurant still open??? * kat, VERY grateful your DH is all ok, how scary. the bike can always be fixed! * heartfire, i know what your going through. my golden is on insulin shots twice a day & w/the heat she barely lifts her head up off the cold tile most days. i'm just managing her health till the vet says it's time - right now it's not. sorry your dealing w/it - pets can just crush ya when sick or when you have to put them down (sorry beth). * 105 weather, suppose to get to 110 today.....nobody is foolish to run or do much after noon time. i've just come in from mowing several acres - jumped in the pool and it wasn't even refreshing. * mac/cheese. NOT low cal: 1.5lb med shells 1c cream half stick butter 1c blue cheese 1.5lb pancetta 1c panko breadcrums boil & cook pasta, dice up pancetta & saute' till crisp - remove, add butter & cream (s&p) to cooked/drain pasta, fold in blue cheese - add to baking dish. breadcrumbs on top then bake 375 @25mins. you can modify anyway - good news, could only eat 4 bites. * taps, that is just disguting invading a procession like that. you will get a ticket in TX if you interrupt a funeral at any stage where there is a police escort. your right - your day, better than the policemans family. very sad. *think this was my longest post - LOL, have a good wkend all*

pretty sure i know what i wanted to say = PE needs to be back in the schools at all grade levels with different classes available based on skill or want. ie - the athletes could go to the gym and lift weights / hit the track running, those "not athletes" - could do tennis / golf / archery /bowling / swimming etc. i meet the fitness standard based off BMI/Body Fat % - yet i still workout 5 days a wk. just because i got there doesn't mean i stop. i sucked at algebra - didn't need it in my field. having a active / fit lifestlye benefits everyone - and it should start early as a kid. just my opinion - no need to read anymore into that.
-
overhaul? it actually needs to be put back into place. i think a big reason for the lg number of obese children is the fact that PE has been removed from the curriculum & the quality of the lunch menu provided. and overhaul there "might" start to fix the problem... i appreciate your post about the isolation of athletes vs those who don't care to be on the football team - there should be different levels / or separate classes offered. i think doing away with getting a kid up an moving during the day is a detrement....

i'm a slave to journaling my food & exercise. i should say that i'm a very unorganized person & this little step each morning lets me be in control of some sorts & for some odd reason it keeps my kitchen organized, where it's usually chaos. for the most part i do eat what i want - and generally that's fresh food. i was very strict with myself early on, and there was really no need. my husband never measured / weighed / journaled.....nothing & he did quite well and fast. i think whatever works for you is best.

oh taps i'd pull a ground hog day & start over..... glouc - think "shag"....friends style, bit too poofy for me:)

I wish I had the ability to correct other peoples spelling on here
luluc replied to Donnainva's topic in The Lounge

i really like how that's handled as well. g4e - go google internet cafe's / libraries & such this evening in case your down for a while at your home. hoping things do a turn around for ya soon. pjtp - flashbacks on steroids. good friend goes into the hospital monday for a wk of chemo before his bone marrow transplant. SO lucky to found a match so soon.....had been wondering what to get him so today i bought a digital photo frame (YES bitched about it some 500 pages ago) - but he'll be there for over a month after chemo - then marrow transplant. i like how i look NOW at 120'''something or another vs 10+yrs ago. anyway loading it up w/all our trips/holidays, since i don't work - i'll be up in the hospital a bunch tormenting his spirits up so my BF doesn't have to do it all..... omg my hair back in '98 was not a good look......still uploading:)

i think your list is basic humanity social "norms" for living rather than 'rules'....which i hope most do follow. the reason "rules" annoy me so much is you can't apply your view of them upon another. perfect example is here on this site ""it's against the rules to eat pasta/rice/bread""... um, no - no it's not. just my hangup......off to clean the pool, but i like your music this am taps:tongue:

yesterday - b- muscle milk strawberries/cream ps l- 3oz thai chili salmon s- wedge of cheddar & handful of nuts d- sm bowl of cabbage stew

Hernia 5 months post surgery Need Advice
luluc replied to wensweet's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i develolped a hernia needing repair 14 months post op. my surgeon removes these if present during banding (my husband had one removed) - but mine developed "after" i lost weight. i had tenderness / eating was starting to become painful - so i insisted on several tests....i was right. and it was a good thing too - while having the hernia repaired, my surgeon noticed a small infection at the port site. left untreated can cause erosion, mega doses of antibiotics fixed the issue. recovery time is a day or two. -
ugh them rules - hate em' laws i follow (99% of the time) rules in my mind - are meant to be challenged/tweeked/taken under advisement/ & CHANGED when they are deemed bulls&*t. no idea why someone would jeopardize their livelihood - i've seen it done to families w/cheating, can't imagine the thrill being that great. but i try to live on the edge each day to deter such "thrill seeking" :smile2:... especially w/my $$$$$.

Continuing Protein Shakes after surgery??
luluc replied to MrsShannonDennis's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
i think you can get your required Protein via food - but i will add one to the mix on days when it's too hot to eat; don't feel like cooking; or am in a rush. i like the muscle milk ready to go ones... my dr suggests that 50-60g of protein each day for 'me' is perfectly fine & easy to accomplish. -
and she calls me confused...:smile2:
-
generally just on odd & even days:sneaky:
-
agreed~ my surgeon encourages all foods (minus white carbs) & i think whole grains are quite important. the OP doesn't mention what "kind" of rice - but 2 bowls is alot & likely the cause of the pain. that's something you just have to ride out & make mental note of what caused the discomfort.
-
yes - your correct; just thought throwing out dates would help since she indicated she was sorta flexible in her scheduling. good luck at the dr g4e~!
-
