Thank You - I'm one of those instant gratification persons, and I have to talk myself daily off of that tree. The weight is really starting to come off after my third fill, and I'm working out like a crazy woman. I've always hated the gym, but now I can't wait to get there each day. Thanks all for the kick when needed, Happy NYR!!!

*dear* DH's First Wife, I really hope it was worth it to you. You choose to involve your babies in your divorce, talking to them when you should have had a friend to discuss adult issues with - but that would require you the capacity to have/keep a friend for more than a minute. Your insecurity & inability to allow your "girls" the right of free will, to Love and Be Loved by someone other than you, will not serve you in the future, ... I hope I'm around to see that day come. I can live with what you did to me - I'm tuff & I'm strong, and I believe you will PAY in this lifetime what you did to my husband and "his" girls. The painful journey of the last few years has allowed my anger to morph into pity for you. I live with a wonderful person who is not able to be a Dad any longer - all your doing. There are millions of children of divorce that do not have the luxury you had, an Ex-husband and New wife that paid your way - gave you what you wanted (monitarily / emotionally) without question, happy/healthy kids and to be able to spend 5mins of time w/them w/OUT your interference is all we asked...but that was not possible. You never had to work another day of your life & I really WANTED to work with you, never wanted the "mom" title - but those precious girls ended up loving me, as I did with them - and it was over. Your jealousness took over and it became war. You will have to explain yourself in the future to those girls when the questions start, without a Judge / Jury / or Lawyers to hide behind. I believe we all have to answer in this lifetime or the next - shall that not happen *here* while my feet are planted on the earth...Bring your "gloves" to afterlife - You'll need them. Respectfully, Your Childrens Step Mom

I had tuna myself, but the day before I was to start soft foods *per my surgeon*. I was hungry, and according to him - I could move a day earlier onto soft/moist tuna & it was the best damn tuna I EVER had. I spent to much coin (self pay) not to call and ask what I can/can not do at any point in this process. I LUV this forum, and have gotten great advise - but I would never take the word here and make it work for me without placing a call to my Doc. My Guess, your Dr. would appreciate you calling him/her for any questions on the pre/post op diet. Good LUCK!!!

SueSue, Rimadyl is not the wonder drug some think - it's quite harmful long term. I have a 15yr old poodle (yes the yapping kind - lol) who was diagnosed with hip dysplasia & epilepsy @3 yrs old. Was put on rimadyl & phenabarbatol .. was on it for yrs. I moved to the country recently and the Vet here took him off both immediately as other complications were arising *his Opinion* due to Rimadyl use. Little guy has been doing Great! (no seizures in over a yr) - Was given *Metacam* - Non-steroid anti inflammatory drug to use in place as needed & seems to be doing wonderful (might check into that med in the future). I know how meaningful dogs are, my second career is breeding Labs; of which I have 5. My little poodle & his bud a long hair Chi (14) are my "first Kids" and I fear the day they have to leave us...but know how much joy they have brought us. Best of Luck w/your lil' one... Lu

luluc replied to bandpal's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
FANTASTIC - Thanks so much! Happy Holidays. -
Forgot one in my exercise - after 20mins of weights , I do 20mins of treadmill (speed 3 / 1.5 incline) to close it out...

LJM, Thanks for responding - I've' been a lurker of your progress and am quite impressed! Yes I track my food & fitness daily in "Calorie Counter - Diet Tracking Online". Start with Food (last 2 days): B - Black coffee / 1 scrambled egg L - 2tbs tuna / 2tbs cottage cheese / 1/2c salad w/paul newman light vinegrette S - Raw Almonds D - 4oz baked talipia / 1/2c grilled squash/zucchini B - Black Coffee / 1/4c Kasha go Lean Crunch Cereal w/handful of blueberries / 1/4c 2% borden proten milk L - Chick Fil A charbroiled chicken sandwhich - plain / no bun S - Raw Walnuts D - 1/2c Shrimp Salad (shrimp grilled - on bed of lettuce) 1/4c fat free feta cheese / pn light vinegrette As far as exercise, I started walking immediately after surgery working up to an 1hr a day (sometimes more). 4 wks ago I was cleared for weights and got a trainer. My work out goes like this: 4 or 5 days a wk - 20mins bike (high interval hills - level 5) / 20mins weights (3 sets upper & lower body on 5 diff machines for each u/l body) ... this will change every other week as the trainer mixes things up 1 day a wk (today and I'm DYING) is with the trainer....He's working on building my strenght with a lot of core routines. Sweat I do! So that's it - , I know I feel better, sleep better, and am starting to "look" better ... I'm just an instant gratification person, and I know it took 6 yrs to put 70lbs on , I can't expect it to all come off in 2 1/2 months. I was just really interested when people started to really drop the lbs , is it the "sweet spot" everyone talks about?, the exercise?, When was it for you? Thanks for the time, Lu

im not trying to be bitchy, but really ... 99% of the successes on this board exercise. it not only helps with health, it helps mood as well. you can do this!! Question, When does the scale MOVE? I have been so good since the day I got home from being banded, food & Exercisce wise.. Gave up my chips, martinis, cake & diet cokes ., and replaced with exercise 5/6 days a week. I was banded the same day as DH, so the house is completely swept of crap food / drink to avoid temtation of any kind. I bought us gym memberships last Feb when we decided to go with the band, and I didn't enter back until 4 wks out of surgery. I'm getting a little frustrated with the damn scale not moving. I'm not starving, don't over eat, eat healthy high Protein 3 meals a day, drink more Water than a camel should need and I'm ready to SCREAM. Not going to give up, just like the motivation in the scale variety. I go for my third fill next wk, maybe that will kick drive things? I recognize NSV in clothes / face etc.....just like to see the lbs start to fall off faster - How long did it take most of you exercising / dieting for the weight to melt away? Appreciate the feedback, off to the gym and the trainer from hell (thankfully he's cute:)) Lulu

Weight Loss Challenge: Thanksgiving to New Years
luluc replied to Dakota1984's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
:clap2:So FINALLY - broke into the 170's. Had a feeling the second fill would start things going after all the cardio I've been doing, but it might be the chunk of "thick auburn wavy hair" that got chopped today. 14 inches going to "Locks of Luv" , I feel lighter - My Dr is more aggressive that some I see here, Have my 3rd fill scheduled the day after XMas, Might not need it .... Not hungry at all! I don't recall defining my level of support needed strictly to Lapband talk only, Thanks for setting me straight.
-
I can't help but notice that, with all the talk of how Christmas is about being loving and kind, this thread seems to be largely about being Bitter towards Tits for being Bitter. (Projection anyone?) With all due respect, I didn't feel I was projecting a thing - other than voicing my disgust in what I perceived to be the rants of an agry individual on EVERY thread I encountered. I come here for support, not to read continuous hate filled speach at every corner (her street - not mine).
-
In my haste, i typed Pro Life,.... I am PRO CHOICE. I will talk to the Pope about my change in philosphy when we have an opportunity to chat - Nontheless...., Elf - Merry Holidays:) Lulu

Aren't you believers supposed to be on your knees praying for me instead of slamming insults and sarcasm back at me? Yeah, I thought so. Want to borrow a rosary? Hypocrisy is what's wrong with Christmas. The Angry Elf I have't been here on LBT that long, but MAN every thread I have read in the last 2 days, you have come across as one angry individual. Your angst / pain is palpable, to a point that I suggest Medical Intervention. In all due respect, you appear to be seeking something on this board, with that which is lacking in your life. To lump many threads all in one (sorry) , This Christian, Pro Life, Liberal Texan - suggests that if you wish to dispel your hardships of the past - you also should be open to the loveliness of this season, if you insist on posting on that type of thread - NO matter your religious preference. I will pray for you - and will send a rosary your way if that helps. Christmas is MORE than a religious event , to be vulnerable and open your heart / life to others makes you a better person than hiding behind words, and anger - My best to you, Angry Elf...

I'm going to start by saying I'm a pretty private person outside my close knit of girlfriends/husband. I find myself on this website more often and with yet some hesitation I feel somewhat comfortable to "speak out loud" here - clear my head some then maybe be done with it. I was not always heavy, when I got married 7 years ago I was 120lbs - and life was GREAT! My husband and I were very successful *DINKs* (dual income no kids), we were extremely social - more so than most, entertainly weekly / monthly etc. I'm a "non practicing chef" (had high tech job -then) but as a trained cook, I cooked for friends and family nightly. I enjoyed it ... still do. 3yrs ago life threw my husband and I a curve ball both personally & professionally. Life sucked, but as many here can attest, food DID NOT. We both packed on the lbs, with too much food & drink..and in the process we discovered who was and was not our friends. Tough pill to swallow, I'm the type to do things for others with no expectation of a return of a favor, we had a major blow to who would turn their back on us... SO, we made a discision to pack it all up and bought a ranch an hr away from the city to clear our heads and get back on track. My husband and I decided Lapband was for us & had the surgery 2 months ago together., I figured we got fat together lets get back skinny together. He's my rock & best friend! We have told No One about our surgery, his choice orignally... now mine. So the holidays are coming up and the invites for cocktail parties & such are flooding in. I don't want to go to a single one of them (husband is indifferent - could care less...but also travels for work, good excuse). I don't want to see a single person till my fat A$$ is back being a size 4/6. Friends have told me the comments made about my husband and self about how "FAT" we had gotten..blah,blah,blah. I have learned some tuff lessons the last 3 yrs & if I have 2 friends VS an army of social butterflies who say they are , I am fine with that. I'm not sure where to take this rant - and it is one. I appreciate the opportunity to blab it here, cause I can't do it anywhere else. I might be one of the few people to be glad to have gotten fat, cause I've learned humilty, and what it's like to be humbled. Lapband, is going to teach me to be a "better / kinder" skinny bitch in the future, ... Lulu
-
Thanks you two for responding - I had more of a "rant" in mind rather than a out right thread creation. I've not seen too much on this site of those who had been thin all their life - got fluffy - and are working back to the thin world, Granted I've only been on this site a little over a month. I just had a "one of those days", felt blue - some hurt feelings came my way, and what better place to express that blue'ness. I do have a group of Yaya's, as we put it, that are extremely close, however I did not tell them about having the Lapband, out of respect for my husband who wanted me to keep quiet about the process. He still see's a weakness in going the surgery route, me I don't care what route it took for both of us to get healthy & fit. I KNOW this "Trip" is life changing in not just the physical form, I really mean that - I'm somewhat shamed at possible actions/behaviors I may have displayed in the past...and I hope that I can be a better person irregardless of the size of my ass. Thanks for reading - I totally felt better after a stiff walk. Take Care, Lu

Weight Loss Challenge: Thanksgiving to New Years

Sweety that is fantastic!! I go for my 2nd fill on the 10th and CAN'T wait for restriction. I'm almost willing the scale into the 170's...UGH!! -
Current Bandsters - Am I over reacting? (Pre-op concerns)-
luluc replied to kimmi5207's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Kimmi - You will be fine. Dr F is very caring (and recently - very busy). True Results has tripled their volume from when I started this process a year ago, I've been told. They are staffing up to meet the need but you won't find a more caring post op dr than he. I would feel more comfortable having him close by, I do drive an hr to see him / get fills etc. My post op appt was exactly a month out. I believe this is how he does it, unless problems occur. During that month he called to check on me 4 times (one during a Cowboy game on a Sunday). He is very dedicated, lapbands are all he does - and if there is an emergency I'm sure he & his staff will take care of you. Hope I help calm some nerves - Lu~ -
Ready to Take Off.... Literally !!!
luluc replied to McQty's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Love Dr Felts. Such a great guy, his staff too! He banded both my husband and I the same day - so we had each other to lean on "literally". Dogs DO help you get up & go., I have 6 - but with a lot of property the first 3 days I just opened the door and let them run themselves..now they run me -
Oh but so ready to become a loser!!!
luluc replied to ThunderWheels's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I LOVE Kirbys!!!! - To be honest, haven't had red meat since being banded, and have lost all craving / desire for a good TX steak. Best of Luck to you, please update once out of surgery!! Lulu -
Ready to Take Off.... Literally !!!
luluc replied to McQty's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi McQty, I was banded by Dr Felts as well!. When I went back a month later for follow up and first fill he told me to wait till wk 6 to start working out (outside of walking which I began immediately).... Walk when you can, and be sure to take care of yourself the first 4 wks Big Time:) Good Luck, Lulu -
Pre-Op - Tylenol not working
luluc replied to allheart's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I too have arthritis (spinal) and experience numbness on the right side from the neck to the ankle...but I do walk every day 6/7 miles. I find that if I do not walk I am stiffer/more sore. I use a heating pad, daily on my right hip/knee & neck sometimes, was advised not to take ibuprofen EVER with the band. I believe the eliptical machine has the least impact on your body for a cardio workout, I would try that route first if swimming is not really a viable option for you. I love swimming - do it daily & did so up until last month (TX weather is flexible), so walking has become my new workout. Best of luck:) Lulu
