  1. Triplet Mom - Sorry you having a rough go. It's safe to guess you'll get similar responses here "every Dr. is different". For me, it took 3 wks to heal properly, which covered the time of my post op liquid stage and I didn't feel hungry till the end of the 4th wk. I'm pretty thankful my Dr is somewhat on the aggressive side of fills, my first one was a month out, then it's been 4wks / 2 wks / 4 wks (next Wed will be #4). So in 3+ months I"ll have 4 fills. Is that right? I don't know, what I do know is that I've not had to deal with head hunger, or feel starved at any point in this process. I'm eating a bit more now, but I think that's because I'm working out like crazy...which I hope fill #4 can curb. My Dr's opinion is if your working "his" program with diet & exercise...he will fill you as needed. It couldn't hurt to get a hold of your Dr and express to him the difficulty you are having. Waiting 2 months does seem long, but not unheard of. All the best, Lulu

Couch to 5K Anyone want to start with me ?

I was a mess, nothing short of a Laurel & Hardy show. My Ipod fell off the treadmill with my hand at the 2min mark, I jumped to the sides to get it back after it flung backwards...didn't slow down the speed and almost fell smack on my face when I got back on. Took me forever to get my breath back, when I did - I just did 90sec run's....Good Luck Stranger! I hope tomorrow is a better day for me:)
  3. Haven't hit here in a while: Today (all planned): B - 1/2cup chick peas (in a weekly rut with them, can't get enuf it seems) L - Shrimp Cocktail (3), 1/2cup edamame D - 3oz Grilled Chicken, 1/2cup stemed veggies S - handful of walnuts twice a day (getting hungry between meals, either working out more or waiting for fill #4 which is next wk) Thanks for suggestions on the various meals.

Anyone weigh <200 and have lap-band

Actually here is a thread for Lower BMI Members: http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f15/lower-bmi-ers-2008-a-48150/ I was straight up at 200 on day of surgery (my highest) with a BMI of 37. A lot of insurance companies, mine included, do not pay for anything below 40...so self pay was my only option. You will be fine, there are many members on here that have lower than a 34BMI, which is obese - and for that surgeons will perform your surgery not just because your self pay. Good luck!!

So I did stop by the Sports Academy after the gym this morning, and bought 3 different ones to give a try. The one that looks/feels to be the most supportive is the danskin womans triathalon tri-bra. Little pricey (on sale $34). I'll let ya know Wombat how it works...LOL,
  11. Question? Has anyone experienced extreme tightness during air travel, with an inability to eat for a day or two? Also are there any scuba divers here that have had any issues? I ask for my husband who was banded w/me, and he has a really hard time with air travel - and is also a scuba diver. He got pretty scientific w/me discussing that air travel and scuba diving would have the reverse affects from one another (I don't pretend to understand), so I figure I'd put the question out to the masses. He would like to get back into scuba diving after losing some weight, the air travel though is kicking his butt due the frequency of business travel. Irregardless of the length of time between fills, he gets so tight he can barely keep liquid down. After touching down for a day he can resume eating - odd. Just thought I'd hit ya'll up for insight...appreciate it

    Air Travel & Scuba Diving

Yeah I guess I should move this - didn't really know which forum to throw this out. I did travel w/my husband last wk (first time since getting the band) and I was tight. It only last an hr after landing but I did get a tight sensation, something I hadn't experienced before. My husband was a totally different story. He PB'd on Water on the plane, and afterwards couldn't get anything down for well over 24hrs. We're still new to this process, but believe he's at his sweet spot, me I think I need one more fill - but won't know till next wk when I have #4. Thanks Wheetsin, hubby is a big scuba diver (hadn't in the last 2yrs - weight gain, et all) and was terrified when he was told he may not be able to with the band. Again thanks for the response.

Go Wombat!!! Posted on another thread, but do any of ya know of a good sports bra? The running is killing the "girls" (I'm a 34DD). I'm wearing my bra plus the sports bra to smoosh them down good - but I still get the pain of the bouncy bounce, short of using duck tape to strap them down. Thanks,
  14. I could only get down the Atkins Vanilla shake. My surgeon had his own brand that was absolutely disgusting no matter what I added to it. His only sub was Atkins, and to date I do EVERYTHING possible not to have a shake. I don't enjoy being in the bathroom that much ... though I'd rather clean toilets than do protein shakes of any kind.

    Sit ups...

I was told to wait till 10wks out to do any ab / weight training. I still get wigged out doing abs thinking I feel my port moving around. Lu
  16. I don't think making abortion harder to get is an answer that will satisfy any camp in this discussion. I also doubt that anyone here has "converted" from one movement to the other, there is and will always be those that are Pro Life, and those Pro Choice - each feeling as passionate as the next on how this topic touches them. Properly safeguarding against the possibilty of pregnancy, is a notion that many take seriously. If that 'fails', the obligation to carry the baby should not be an issue of law/government when a woman is making the decision to abort or carry, irregardless of her age (under 25 - as mentioned above). As and adult, I'm not convinced nor will ever be that sex should be slated for those whose only intention is to have a child. As sexual beings, that's just not feasible. I enjoy the discussion - For me it's larger than just being Pro Choice. I feel there is a huge issue in the Healthcare of Women as a whole & for that (sorry men) I am extremely nervous when male politicians want to legislate on how a woman decides her medical needs.

Couch to 5K Anyone want to start with me ?

Hey Mindy - I think we should all meet in Mexico for some R&R (me i'd like to be closer to goal this time, bathingsuits were still not too kind) - ..., I'd LOVE to register for the Mardi Gras 5k, but same wkend of my Bro / SisinLaw to be wedding shower (i really can't stand them) and have family coming in from FL. I huff'd & puff'd today on wk 3 ... BUT I am starting to like the running thing. Need to get some new workout bra's etc...Anyone have a good recommendation, I'm a tad big 34DD - and that seems to be an issue of late. Lulu

Back from vacation & did manage to get my 3 days of running in @ Wk2. Not easy, considering too many "beverages" - but managed to loose a pound and not pig out. Starting the grind of wk 3 today - hopefully the sounds/smell of the gym get me moving & back to reality.
  19. Twas the Night before Vacation, All dogs out of the house. Nestled on a Ranch, hopefully chasing a mouse. I'm trying to figure - what clothes to pack, keeping my mind busy so not to snack. It's that "in between" stage that's my daily struggle, size 10, 12 or a 14 I juggle. So and extra suitcase I order to hubby, to pack my workout clothes, to fend off the chubby. I'm going to run, workout, and take care & Hope the margaritas dont' kick me too hard - in the derriere. So off from LBT I am for a week, my support system in mind - so not to cheat. I thank you all for the journey right now, and hope my fill keeps me from eating a cow.

    women only-question regarding tom

Banster I was banded a few days before you and I have not had a normal period since. There is no pattern to it's timing or length of stay, I experience more cramping, and my flow is heavier. I am older, and have had the good old friend since I was 10 - sooo, upon my OBGYN visit last week, she thinks the surgery has shocked my system or I could be pre menopausal. I'm not yet 40, but my mom went through the change or started around my age..so that's not to say it couldn't happen to me. I also have endometriosis, and have for as long as I can remember. I'm going to guess that the band surgery has shocked my system some, as the pain is more than before (with endo) - I'm just going to ignore it some (found working out has helped a bunch with this regard) - until the night sweats arrive. Hope your feeling better so to start running w/us!!!

As mentioned earlier whosya - great job, your an inspiration to this "slug" to get up and run for the first time in YRS. LJM - Welcome back!
  23. Queenie, We paid 15k each (husband banded w/me), which covers a years worth of office visits (post op) and fills. I believe the Surgery Center of Richardson charges $100 per fill - I would double check that, but I'm pretty sure I was told that. Msbutterkup, Sorry you had problems in the past. I've found Dr Felts and his staff very personable / professional. Best of Luck to you. Lulu
