Hi Bling, My husband and I went through the process together as well. He had a BMI of 41, with High Blood Pressure and Mild Sleep Apnea, My BMI was 37 with no comorbis. We went through a lot of hoops with our Ins *BCBSTX* Company for 5 months before we decided to go self pay. We were actually notified the same wk we scheduled our surgeries that insurance had declined us both. We researched our Dr a year before surgery, made sure we checked his stats / office / fill center etc, we felt and still do we made a good choice with our Surgeon. I personally find his after care very supportive, which I believe is very important. Don't get me wrong it was expensive $15k each and that $30k check was hard to write, but has turned out to be well worth it! Best of Luck to You and your Husband! Lulu

To Chime in, I think he should have gone after the mother for finacial restitution because after reading this case for some time now, I believe she defrauded the "Dad". I think she knew full well he was not the father all along. He accepted that the girl was his, financial obligation should follow - so should his love & affection...not just his wallet. Your right Phyllis, life is not fair - it's especially not when the Family Law for most of the US is one sided, specifically towards the mother. I realize there are many single mothers who have dead beat fathers for their children, and that is what gets the majority of attention. It is a shame, it is a crime - but so is fraud. What's not reported, is the father's who have little to no rights when entering into Family Court. I'll admit, I'm more than biased - I have 2 close men in my life that have spent nothing more than a small fortune to have the bare minimum of access to their children. I realize my instances are the minority compared to the thousands of woman who are struggling to make ends meat being a single mom, with no support. I am also a strong advocate for Father for Equal Rights - and this is a case among many that I encounter each day. Net / Net - The child should never suffer, but "maybe" it wasn't just the "Dad" in this issue .... Maybe the "Mom" should bear some responsibility for her part...My 2cents

MP - FL house Mkt is not the greatest from what I hear from family. My parents have too big a house for retired folk, and had it listed for over a year. They took it off the market before the holidays, deciding just to stay put for the time being. My brother in Tampa can't buy another one (bigger needed w/4 kids) till he can sell his home - Not a single offer in 9 months. The economy is scary everywhere, I walked away fr my career 2yrs ago when DH and I bought a ranch. Now I run it, and get nervous time to time did we make the right decision (DINKs also). I got my fingers crossed (add you to the list :rolleyes2:) and pray things turn around quickly - I'm starting to enjoy not getting out first thing in the morning dealing w/traffic and cubical life & would hate to have to reenter that world again, thankfully some smart choices we made (don't use Credit Cards - 100$ cash only / no car pyment / no debt etc) may keep that at bay. Hopefully this will pass - and quickly. I think hardship is felt all over as it pertains to the economy.

I totally thought this way up until about a month ago. Living close if not inside the Bible Belt, I attended my In Laws Church for a Christmas Service. This is as Evangelical as you can get "Assembly of God". There was a prayer encouraging the congregation to show their support for Romney. I about fell out of my chair, and got the look I get from DH when I attend these services (thankfully only 2/3 times a yr). I think Romney's chipping away at the ultra-conservative sector...slowly, but I hear & see it happening locally (NTX). My parents were in from FL this past wk, and they say that he's gaining serious momentum there..Thankfully, Edwards is their man:) Oye where / what will come of this all?? Hopefully the first Female or AA President~

You could be right w/Thompson just now stepping down. Lauren, I think Romney has a better shot than the rest in taking the republican nomination. I count Guiliani out for not campaigning anywhere other than FL, he shot himself in the foot and half of his staff is now working for free - out of money. McCain, too aligned with the current bumble head in office. Huckabee?? - just too out there *I'm not sure he is financially sound as is Romney at this point to sustain him into the Fall* My husband lived in AR while in college, and he was the local sheriff (Huckabee) he has a lot of history that has yet to make it to the public forum - his, IMO scary persona. A little part me (no pun here), thinks the Democrats WANT Huckabee. He's easier to beat than say Romney., Not totaly convinced .. but interesting nonetheless.

Ha!..Well I do Love TX & it's my home. I must say the money spent on these campaigns is obscene to say the least, that and the billions spent on the war could sure be better utilized in MO. I don't care for any of the Republican Candidates (Huckabee the least), and the Democrats ... eh, Not flipping out over them too much either. I'm leaning towards Clinton now with Obama a close 2nd....Edwards third. Yeah I like Edwards (I realize a LOT do not), it will be interesting to see if any of these individuals team up as a "pair" when the dust settles. Clinton / Obama 08' that wouldn't suck - Romney / Huckabee...scary!

Didn't run today. Did a 40min circut of core floor exercises w/trainer this AM, and am SO sluggish, maybe it's the weather. I met w/my LB surgeon for my 3 month checkup late yesterday, and he told me not to anticipate losing anymore than 6lbs per month - I'm like YOUR kidding? I know another topic for another thread, just between him and my PT who is not a fan of WLS - I feel the need to veg the rest of the day. So tomorrow I will be have a new attitude (HA), Try Wk 4, and get my 4th fill...My PT can KMA for right now, I pay him to get me in shape - the Lapband will help me stay there:)...Cheers~

My food bill is the same or higher at the moment. I find myself shopping at Whole Foods, Fish & Farmers Market 10 times more now than prior to surgery. I even pop into my Fav Sushi Restaurant and buy a slab of tuna or salmon. Like you Candle the only savings I've seen is in eating out. I'm either only eating an appetizer or have an entre that will sustain me 3 more meals.

Mindy, you just need to get you and Fam healthy first, maybe I can join you guys in Austin in Mar for the next run. I think I have redefined this couch to 5k thing in my own mind/body. I planned to restart wk 3 today, but I was able to run 4mins...So did a combo wk 3/4....I've always had problems following directions, maybe by mid wk (*like last wk*) I'll talk or run my way into a full wk 4. Stranger you Rock, your post made me feel like a wh**p not completing, which is what this wuss needs...

Adoption can be a great thing, have a little fella on the way (June) that we are adopting from a family member. It is a "very good thing" to have a choice, and this Pro Choicer is in favor of what ever alternative works best for that individual at that time. Safe & Legal are paramount. Nina - didn't see many Pro Life answers to your question, as someone who has gone down the IVF path (unsuccessfully) - My only request would be to submit the unused embryos to Stem Cell Research if I had any, another legal debate I have issues with.
